This game doesn't compare to another others in the series. I am not sure if amateurs are now boxing their products commercially but this game is second rate. The level are way too easy and there were a couple times.

Repeat after me: "I promise I will never ever waste my time on products that are poorly developed and passed off with regarding their customer's intelligence"

Second Rate and Amateurish

Unlike Rogue Spear and Urban Operations, which were developed by the very talented people at Red Storm Entertainment, Black Thorn was developed by a team of UbiSoft employees in their Montreal office who were trained by people from RSE, but who obviously lack their talent. The level design, modelling, and particularly the texturing were second-rate and amateurish, and doesn't compare to the quality of RSE's work on the previous installments in the Rainbow Six/Rogue Spear series.

If you are a fan of Red Storm Entertainment's work then it might be worth buying for the bonus CD (American version only) that contains a feature on the making of Ghost Recon, but don't expect Black Thorn to be on par with Red Storm Entertainment's previous work in Rogue Spear or Urban Operations, or even Covert Operations for that matter. If it weren't for the bonus CD about Ghost Recon, I would have returned it and asked for my money back, it's that bad.

Contrary to the rave reviews that UbiSoft employees have been posting around the net posing as fans and customers, Black Thorn is by far the worst in the series - hardly "the best" as they have been claiming.

Boring...

This game continues with the great graphics that Red Storm has been consitant with, HOWEVER, I managed to finish this game in about 2 hours. The only challenge was the many "beat the clock" type scenarios.

BUT, if you never played any of the Rainbow Six collection, this is a must to get you started.

Get it and start wacking TANGO's left and right!

Is this really by red storm!?

I own every rainbow six game. I am so so so disappointed, the textures in the game were old. Details were left out big time, I expected this to be the best on account of it being the newest, and probobly the last add on to rogue spear. And I know my guns big time, red storm paid no attention to making the guns real like. Basicly this was a last attempt to make more money, but it was worth it because it expanded th multiplayer possiblilities. I say if you like playing it online, go for it. But if you want something more than just covert ops, dont get it. I dont want to knock red storm down completely, but i play operation flashpoint. If you've played it, you would know what im talking about.

NOT WORTH IT!!!

First let me start off saying that this expansion pack was probably a last-ditch effort for R6 before Ghost Recon came out (which is an excellent game i might add). I bought Black Thorn for [price], and it only comes with 9 missions, and a couple new guns. Its VERY boring! I wish i'd never bought it. The graphics are pretty ok, the sound is good (creative EAX), game play is fine, but it just doesnt live up to the other R6's. I'd get Ghost Recon insted.

Not very good

Urban Ops was a lot better. The online play addition was nice, but that's all this game is really good for. The earlier R6 games have much better environments and provide a much greater challenge. I think it's pretty bad when one can complete this game on the Veteran setting in under two hours. On the brighter side, the weapons additions are very nice. I'm not too sure how many are added (and they are only available on the multiplayre setting), but they are all pretty fun to play around with. It gives a sense of what the enemy is using against you.

It's no Urban Ops...

After waiting an awfully long time for Black Thorn to come out, I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. It looks like this was slapped together over a long weekend. Many of the levels just combine textures from Rogue Spear and Urban Ops. Plus, the attention to detail that made UO and RS so cool is missing (for example, signs in Italy are written in English). Also, the game itself is pretty easy. On Vet level of difficulty, I finished all nine of the new missions in three hours, forty-five minutes. Finally, for those who know their weapons, see how many mistakes you can spot. I've lost count.

For Rogue Spear fans, it's worth buying; but honestly Ubi Soft, we deserve better.

I love Rogue Spear. And if you're here, it's because you either love Rogue Spear as well or are interested in learning to love the series. I own Rainbow Six, Covert Ops and now this is a new addition to my collection. But I am not happy. There is just nothing really new in this game. It's really more of the same thing. Don't get me wrong, this is not a horrible game. It plays well, the graphics are decent (pretty much identical with Rainbow Six:Rogue Spear), but nothing improved or ground breaking.
What tends to happen when you have more of the same stuff is you get bored easily....and that I did, with this game. I hate to say it, but I never even finished this game because I got bored, plus I picked up a copy of Ghost Recon (once you go Ghost, you'll never go back). This game never really kept me going. I got to the level where you have to stop the bad guys before they escape on a bus, after a couple of trys, I just lost interest.
Bottom line: If you've never played any of the Rainbow Six games and you want to start, I highly reccommend you pick up Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear, every level in that game is fun and it has good replay value. I'm all about "the experience" when it comes to playing games, I strive to have a fun experience, but with this game it just wasn't there, if anything, it felt more like a job. If you own any of the previous series, I really don't reccommend this unless you really have to get every game in the series. If anything, wait for Raven.

More of the same, nuthin' new really. A few new weapons, no new unis, 9 new maps. Really, the Rogue Spear franchise has grown tired and this is a last gasp effort to pull in some green before Ghost Recon leaves Rogue Spear in the dust.

I have heard that this game was highly anticipated, then when it was relaesed, it was dissapointing. I really looked forward to it and i read the reviews, and i said "Forget it" and i bought a better game like Delta Force 2. I heard this game has cool graphics and neat new weapons like the French FAMAS G2 rifle, FN P90 5.7mm submachine gun, and the Steyr TMP. Although these weapons sound cool, the difference in the weapons compared to the other weapons is just noise and range. Usually, 3 round bursts from any weapon will drop a tango (terrorist). But, it has neat, new missions in cool places and has cool counter-terrorism tactics.
