IF YOU HAVE STOCK IN RAPALA AND ENJOY HORRIBLE FISHING GO AHEAD AND BUY IT.

Worst game ever!

This game is pathetic, the music is really agravating! Theres no real point to this game. I like fishing games with a storyline, like reel fishing 3 witch I just purchased about a week ago and it is way better the Rapala pro fishing. My point is, if you hate fishing games, then Rapala Pro Fishing is right up your ally.

Pathetic!

This game is pathatic, and the music...I don't even want to go there. I like fishing games with a storyline like Reel Fishing 3 witch I just purchased about a week ago and it is way better. If you like playing horrible fishing games, then Rapala Pro Fishing is right up your ally.

Not for anyone with (any) hand-eye coordination

I'm an avid catfisherman and got this game for Christmas. It's the second fishing game I've owned (the first being Trophy Bass).

Although the graphics are wonderful, the gameplay itself is miserable. Among the deficiencies: no onscreen help for the numerous keyboard keys, no explanation or control over the goofy flipping, unpredictable retrieve speed, no thrill to the catch, no lake map, no trolling... the list goes on.

While they spent a lot of time making realistic-looking fish and lures, the game itself is pretty boring. I'll stick to Trophy Bass.

Okay...

Rapala Pro Fishing is a decent game. The fish are realistic, and so are the lures, but the fish are either ridiculously easy to catch, or almost imposssible. I have been trying to catch a 50-pound King Salmon for 2 months and have not been able to. Also Rainbow Trout are very hard.

And Catfish? Where? And I cannot believe there are no Northern Pike anywhere except the Danube Delta. Sheesh!

If I could, I would give this game a 3 1/2. Just OK.

The good the bad and the ugly

Okay here is the deal when it comes to Rapala's fishing game.

First it really is kind of fun to play, it has somewhat realistic play and a very large variety of fishing locations and fish. I really have only one complaint, that is two player. It would be really nice to have a competition with someone who isn't a computer. But I will list for you the pros and cons that I have found.

PROS:
1. Wide variety of fish, locations and lures makes for exciting fishing. Let's face it most of us are not going to get the chance to go to Alaska for some good Salmon fishing, but with this game you can.

2. Very easy to play. If you don't have great hand-eye coordination (fine tuned by years of playing video games) this game has options that makes it easier. With an auto-cast function you can simply point and shoot. But the game also has a manual cast for longer and more accurate casting.

3. Underwater or top water lure cam. With the option of either watching your lure from an under water cam (which allows you to see fish location and exactly when your lure is attracting fish) or top water (which is, let's face it, much more realistic) you can choose which you prefer. Plus you can change if you want to start out with the underwater cam and then move to the top water as you get better you can.

CONS:

1. Again no two player game options. If you select the easy mode, all you have to do is fish...most of the time you will win the competitions, and even if you go to a harder game play, most of the time just hang out for the whole time fishing and you can win easily.

2. I really truly wish the guide was a little bit better, granted in reality fish will bite on whatever they fancy at the time. But the game really doesn't provide much information as to fishing guides. Like I said before I have never fished for Salmon...how am I to know what lures to use and what locations. I don't want the game to give me all of the answers, but how about we start by having the guide (which can be annoying) provide some real advice as to what I am doing wrong, or how I can improve...if I ask for it.

Overall I think the game is a great buy just for the fact that it's kind of fun pulling in a Salmon up in Alaska, or a muskie or pike...instead of the usual games we see that are limited to bass. Go for it...and let's see if you like it.

The best fishing game on the market, Realistic & Fun

I thought this game was great, You couldn't ask for a more realistic fishing game. Everything right down to the casting is as realistic as you could get, the lakes are visually stunning, this game stands out from all the rest just because of the huge assortment of lakes, Rivers, and regions to choose from. Sometimes it is quite a challenge to catch a fish, you have to play around with different baits to see what works in the situation. I for one dont want a fishing game that lets you catch a fish every time you cast, When you hook a fish it is just like the real thing. I think this is a solid effort from activision and for the price you cant go wrong, I dont understand the bad reviews on this game because theres no way you can make a better fishing game.

Not too shabby

This is a fairly decent fishing title. My wife and I enjoy it. Some of the fish are pretty easy to catch while others...namely King Salmon...are dang near impossible to get in the boat. Sure we can hook plenty of them but getting them in the boat to win the tournament is another story entirely. I do like the fact that you can actually drive the boat unlike Sega Bass Fishing Duel in which you only use the trolling motor. I mean part of the appeal of fishing games is the ability to drive the boat. So leaving out that ability is frankly unforgiveable. But if you are a fisherman or fisherwoman or at least interested in fishing, then this game is worth a purchase.

fun game

Realistic lures, tackle selections. Able to move boat on various lakes makes it more enjoyable. Challenging tournaments makes this game a must for all ages.

Entertaining

I love to fish but my dad is never around to take me. This game lets me go fishing right in my house. I like the tornements and the fish and lures come in a wide variety and you can play as different characters. At first casting is a little hard at first so you can't catch any thing but once you get the hang of it you can cast over 60ft! This game is great. And DO NOT buy Reel Fishing III because that game is horrible!
