Great concept.....not very well executed.

I saw this game in a bargain bin at my local grocery store. I thought "woah! a nancy drew game? i l0ve nancy drew! she is teh roxx0r!".....Ya. This game proved to be teh SuXx0r!

The lack of a 'save' option was probably the biggest disappointment. When you complete a level nothing comes with you because of the password system. If you have an item when you finish a level it is magically back where you found it when you start the next level. (maybe this is because it is a scary scary haunted mansion and things like that tend to happen in scary scary haunted mansions? iono.)
Had they included a save option this game definitely would have received a higher score....unfortunately all the password system does is create a game that is frustrating and confusing....

it was good but not as good as the computer games

the games was good, but very hard to play. you had to finish a chapter before you could save and if you did anything in the chapter that was ahead of its time and quit, when you typed in the password it wouldn't be done, so you would have to do it all over again. overall it was a good game but i would reccomend playing it on the computer instead!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kind of Stupid, moderately interesting

This game is rather interesting. Some of the puzzles are REALLY hard and I can't even move the pieces around. Plus it's SUPER hard to handle/see because of the TINY Gameboy screen. You can't really figure out what you're doing.
I haven't even been able to figure this thing out and I've had it for, what, 3 years??? And I play Gameboy all the time and this is the one game I can't really get.

Anyway the 'password' thing isn't much of a password because you can figure out which buttons to push.

The conversations with the other characters aren't that good, because "Nancy" can only choose from 1-4 unsatisfactory responses to the other characters' annoying comments. ("Why don't you shut up!?!?!" is not among the selections.)

The character Abby is a total lunatic and I wonder why Rose is friends with her. She's a jerk and she thinks she can talk to spirits and stuff. At one point she almost had me believing her until I realized she was playing a tape cassette of voices and had a projector showing all these different shadows, ghosts, etc.
I bet (but I don't know for sure) that Louis did "it", whatever "it" was (I don't even remember what we're accusing him of). He'll cut you off in a conversation. You're talking to him and all the sudden he'll say, "I'm very sorry, I'm busy. Can't Abby or Rose help you?" No, they can't help me. You're the culprit, dude.
Rose is nice. She's okay, there's nothing wrong with her except that she actually bought this old "haunted" mansion that's falling to pieces.
Charlie's kind of cute and nice but also suspicious. Find out about him yourself. Also bring a lantern when you go into the saloon secret tunnel; otherwise you'll just fall into the dark. (Nancy: AAAAAAH! [splashing sound]).

ALSO: When you enter the Parlor in about the 2nd level don't freak out like I did when you see this black THING behind a couch. It's a fire, not a ghost; get the fire extinguisher.
The game offers NO instructions on how to deal with the many calamities Nancy faces.

Well, hope you can figure this thing out better than I did. I think it might be better as a computer game.

NO SAVE FEATURE A HUGE PROBLEM

I am a parent of a 10 year old girl who loves the Nancy Drew books. She is a beginning gamer and I thought that this would be a great game. However, The NO SAVE feature within a chapter is a huge problem. She really hates turning off the game and loseing all her hard work when she needs to put the game down. It is so frustrating for her and I. I was used to games like Harry Potter where you can save the game and pick up exactly where you left off. Because of this feature I WOULD NOT RECOMEND this game for children.

great concept, but...

I am a 31 yr old female gamer. Just so you know where I a coming from...I enjoy the concept and idea of this game and it is true that the graphics are great, but it is way too dark in a lot of parts of it and I find myself holding it just right to try to see, even with one of those game boy lights. Growing up with Nancy Drew books I would buy this game even with that down fall. I hope they come out with more mystery games like this one. It is nice to be able to find myself thinking about who is behind the accidents and where to find clues and excited when I find more. The no save feature does not bother me because it is easy to start in the beginning of each chapter and get caught up to where you left off. I hope this was helpful.

Great game, important minor flaws.

This game is graphicly beautiful and expansive. the game is divided into chapters like the nancy drew books. but the main flaw (and reason it didnt get 5 stars) is that you get a password at the end of a chapter, and CAN NOT SAVE during a chapter. depending on how quickly you can figure out what is going on a chapter can take anywhere from just a few minutes, or when i was completely lost it took me about 3 hours to finish a chapter. so not being able to save during the chapter is a pain.

otherwise, the game is beautiful, engaging, creative and at times complex. this game uses the processing and graphic powers of the gameboy advance to the extreme. i highly recommend this title for adult gamers, particularly women gamers.

You, as Nancy Drew, are put into a 3D world full of dangers and mystery. With clues everywhere, you want to serch behind every door and around every corner, but beware that there is danger lurking everywhere and even when you can't see, eventually you will find a light.
Be careful that you don't stay in some one else's room to long and in the end, your answer to defeat is above your head in the lobby.

nancy drew... is genius! but having the computer games was good enough. now its for gameboy and it just wasn't as exciting as a lot of the computer nancy drew games. overall i'd say, from a 13 year old, this game, buy it for your computer.

fun

This game is fun and has great graphics. You are trying to solve a mystery in a mansion and you get to go through the mansion! It looks real too on the inside because the graphics are soooo good! You talk to people in the mansion and ask them questions to try to find out who did it. There are also many puzzles to solve. One really bad thing is this game goes by chapter(like the books) and you cannot save during a chapter because you have to get the passwrd after every chapter to start where you left off. This is bad in case of emergencies and it can also take forever to complete a chapter. Overall,it is really neat and fun.
