Frustrating

A long standing player in the UO community (2 years) I have enjoyed almost every aspect of the game. I was happy when I got my name into the Third Dawn Beta. I spent hours and hours playing Third Dawn, finding bugs and posting them. I was and am frustrated with Origin for sending the game Gold before it was ready.

The game is virtually unplayable (Build 61). Massive memory leaks, crashes, and poor graphics should keep any serious MMORPG gamer away for the time being.

The Game, we must also remember, is part of a virtual community. This community is presumably nutured by the company which made it, however any serious gamer who plans on sticking around will want to make sure they agree, and follow, the companies views of customerism. OSI is not committed to their customer base. A solid 3-4 month lay over of their Veteran 'rewards' program is a good example of their desire for the bottom dollar. Third Dawn was rushed for money, not for your playability.

Instead of Third Dawn, I suggest buying UO: Renaissance and take advantage of the free month of play before you commit to Third Dawn.

I love this game!!

I have played Ultima Online for 5 years now, starting out when i was 8. I started out with Third Dawn and i was addicted to it, eyes glued to screen and mouth wide open when i saw the graphics. You have many choices in what career path you choose, and unlike most games you can change the path you take and try something new out instead. You have so many choices that (for me) its hard to choose. Mages, warriors, blacksmiths, tailors, rangers, ect. You name it, it will probably be in there. In Ultima Online you can alter your appearance, from brown hair to green hair in a second using hair dye. There are many clothe and armor choices so if you get bored with your appearance, well, change it! Weapons of diffrent choice are also there, so you can always have a more powerful weapon. The people are there to help, and you will most likely find someone that you can get along with. There are guilds, which are like clubs almost, that you can join, whether its because you want the title or because your friends with a guildmember. This game does take patience and hard work though, so if your the kind of person that likes to go through a game in 2 days or less, i think that this game might not be the right one for you. Theres so many places to explore, from woods to deserts, dungeons to islands, cities to deserted villages, theres always somewhere new to explore. Monsters and enemies are of diffrent varities, so you'll never get bored with killing them. This game is great and i highly suggest that you buy Ultima Online, whether its Mondains Legacy (newest version out) our Third Dawn. (but i suggest the newest version out more)

I have no idea why but most of these responses are negative. I have been playing uo for about a week and i am hooked. I guess most of these people don't have a good enough computer to see the good quality graphics. My computer has no problems and runs the game very fast, whout any lag. Get a better computer and stop complaining uo is a great game.

Too addictive for my own good...

Contrary to what many say, and what I use to say, pay-to-play is definitely the way to go. It weeds out most of the immature children and maintains a lovely online community. The game it self is one of the most addictive I have ever played. With mass possibilities as to what you can be in the game (Warrior, Mage, Healer, Blacksmith, Tailor, Ranger, etc), you will find it is hard to get bored with this game. The online community you will find is one of the most lovely out there. The people are friendly and immaturity is highly frowned upon. People will give you a helping hand and if you have a want, there are many who will help you fill it. There are two versions on this disc, 3D and 2D. Many old-schoolers will tell you 2D is the way to go with less lag, but I prefer 3D and if you play, you will see why. Either way, you can't complain when they let you have your choice.

Excellent Addition to an Excellent Game.

UO:3D is a great addition to UO. It adds new items, a new land to explore, and best of all 3D graphics. Seeing your avatar in 3D is probably one of the coolest things you could ever experience.

Also added in are new gestures such as wave, applaud, point, and many many more. If you own UO, do yourself a favor and BUY THIS ADDITION. If you don't own the original UO, do yourself a favor and buy it. :)

Awsome Game!

I participated in the Beta testing. I think people need to remember that there is a reason why it was called "beta testing." The game right now is still not fully developed... but, it has a huge amount of potential. Ultima Online and UO the second age were greatly improved through the use of patches. The same thing will happen to UO: Third Dawn. The use of 3D by Ultima is clearly a good step towards making UO one of the longest continual games in history. This game will not disapoint anyone who is a little patient at the start.

This game started out being the best game ever created. Keywords in that sentence were "STARTED OUT" I was loving the game, getting rich about to get married and loving it all the same. As you most likely know this game is across the internet so like anything else that means it could get hacked and almost anyone who has played could tell you about there experience with that happening to them. In my case some loser hacked it and did some horrible things to some of my best friends. And got me to a place I wasnt aloud. Then whoever the heck it was decided to write me up (...) and now I am banned from the game until I can get the IP address changed but then Im not wasting (the money) so someone can take everything I worked my rear-end off and enjoy for themselves. Besides the fact of getting hacked, it isn't worth (the price). (...)DONT BUY WASTE OF TO MUCH MONEY GO BUY CIVILIZATION 3 a truly good game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I run uo third dawn on a rather antiquated system. P2 400, Win 98, Rage 128 (32 megs)one of the video cards that supposedly had trouble with the game. I found all I had to do was download the special drivers and I really have no trouble running this game on my system.

For the most part it runs lag free, I don't crash (maybe once in the last 10 gaming sessions)the graphics are alright, they can be improved, but that is what this new client gives to UO, the ability to easily add new items, monsters, lands etc. Which the 2d client doesn't give this ability.
