Not worth the plastic it's burnt on!

Worms world party is the latest worms game to be churned out by Team17. It uses exactly the same game engine as the previous 2 worms titles, Worms2 and Worms:Armageddon. OK, let me list the new features in this game for you all:

Wormpot: A bunch of mods to the standard worms game. You can choose 3 at a time and they can be played with any setting. Such mods include blood mode, all weapons affected by wind, slippy terrain and the imaginative double damage. These features actually add far LESS to the game than Team17 would have you believe. Since many of them were available in Worms Armageddon anyway.

A new frontend: This is for all you kiddies out there. Anyone who likes slightly more mature games will be absolutely shocked by the front-end used in this game. Bright garish colours and cutesy fuzzy worms abound!

New music: Again, more childish than most people can tolerate.

New sounds: Whoops, it looks like Team17 "forgot" to bother adding any new sound effects or soundbanks to the game!

New weapons: Oh wait, there are NONE. There are NO new weapons or utilities in this game! Absolutely nothing!

Single player missions: 30 odd missions, I managed to complete them all in 2 days because they are mind numbingly easy (for the most part) and again, this is to cater for the younger children.

So there we go. This game contains very little new material compared to the previous 2 worms titles. Infact, there are some features dropped from Worms armageddon! Team17 have taken a step back in my opinion. Previous worms addicts may be disappointed to learn that Worms world party doesn't even contain ranks for online multiplayer!

Simply put, if you already have Worms2 or Worms Armageddon then stick with it. If you are new to the World of worms, then I would strongly reccommend that you buy Worms Armageddon on budget instead, because there is very little (if anything) that I can reccommend to you about this game... There seems to have been a distinct lack of effort put into this game, and it really shows.

surpirzed and disappointed

Team17's Worms series has been a wonderful part of my day ever since I came across the original Worms back in 1995. With Worms2, I was pleasently surprized with the update in graphics, sound, and overall fun. Then came Worms: Armaggeddon. W:A was another great sequel in a world where sequels often leave us wanting more. With WWP, however, it seems that Team17 has dropped the ball. The real upgrade to WWP (which I directly imported from the Team17 shop) is multiplayer modules. Otherwise it seems that W:A has stretched the game engine to it's limits. In fact, some features that W:A boasted are completely left out of WWP. For the new Worms player, pick up a copy of W:A (you will find yourself searching for the original, which may not be as technically impressive, but still worth the price), and enjoy the single player games as well as the online support. Most of the modules added to WWP are already available (through player modifications) over the internet, and were well established parts of W:A long before WWP was even on the drawing board.

A personal note to Team17: That's two games in the dump recently. You really boinked StuntGP, and now a pointless follow up to an exellent series. If this is the best you can do, I suggest leaving the pink fleshy world behind and drafting us another hit outside the Wormy World.

After a brief experience on NBC's Weakest Link, the other Worms games have spoken, and to you WWP, You are the Weakest Link, Goodbye.

Pure dissapointment

In short, Worms World Party is not worth the money. I'm a big fan of worms, in fact, Worms Armageddon is the only video game I play. Just got ahold of WWP this morning and was sorely dissapointed. New missions and training, a few new multiplayer options, but nothing else that means anything. Oh, the interface is annoying now, too. Ugly bright colors. So here's the deal: if you want to run Win2k then you want WWP. Otherwise save the cash and buy/keep playing Worms Armageddon. Go buy your significant other some nice flowers with the money you save and tell her that you've decided to spend more time with her, rather than buy a new video game to lock yourself in the computer room with :)

I got my hands on a copy of WWP today and was sorely dissapointed. I'm a huge fan of Armageddon, and was way excited for this release. But nothing fantastic has been added. Some multiplayer options were changed, different training is available, and the interface was made annoying. That's it. Everything else is the same. Save your money, unless you want to run Win2k...In my opinion, there's no other reason to try WWP.

Disappointed for the delay

Do you know how long this game has been delayed from its original "promissed" delivery? More than a half year already! Now the latest news says it will be available May 30, 2001. We should see if it can keep its promise. If not, cancel your order. Its content can't be trusted to be fun, as the producer can't keep up with its production schedule.

I'd laugh, but it's not worth the effort.

You should note the reviews on this site that praise this despicable waste of money are all from the US. It hasn't actually been released in the US.

That should be your clue.

(HINT : Don't waste your money.)

What's the difference?!

Why did it take them a year after the original release date to release it if it is so much similar to Worms Armaggedon. All those new features they promised to add barely make a difference. If you already own WA or W2, it's not worth it to buy WWP.

Broken, Buggy, Bad Tech Support

Here's my experience with Worms World Party: After installing the game, it won't run at all. I just get an Illegal Operation error. The vendor's web site says to uninstall/reinstall, and apply a patch. So I go to uninstall... I get an error there too. It won't uninstall!! So I delete it completely. I reinstall it. I apply the patch. Still doesn't work. Next step: Fill out the "Return Item" form on the Amazon web site. Very disappointing.

Disappointing

If you already own previous versions of the Worms series then you will be very disappointed with this latest reincarnation.

Apart from the many bug fixes there is nothing extra to justify the price. Contrary to popular belief, there are no new weapons and the WormPot mode is very similar to the cheat options from Worms Armageddon. The new front-end graphics are tailored for a younger audience with the exact same layout as Worms Armageddon too. Worms World Party also lacks league play and a world ranking system that made Worms Armageddon so popular. There is no mission editor as of yet, Team17 have made this as an extra download as they did with The Fiddler for Worms Armageddon.

Worms World party is a good game if you do not have Worms 2 or Worms Armageddon only because of the fact that Worms is a fantastic game in it's own right. Give this game a miss if you expect new features from a sequel.

No Tech Support, WormNet Down, Anti-Climatic

Worms World Party is a great game. The new interface is too bright, and it's exactly like Armageddon - but it's great!

HOWEVER-- You are supposed to be able to play online - but it never works! There is virtually no tech support for Americans. Interplay is supposed to be handling the technical support but they haven't answered any of my emails in the last two weeks.
