USMC..Well. I will strongly recomend Ghost Recon, if you are going for a Realistic game.. This is simply just another shooting game. And yes you can give orders and they will do as told. WOW. hmmm
I hope there will be a update to get this game realistic.

Fantastic Action-Shooter for the Mac

(Disclaimer: I'm neither affiliated with the developer or publisher of this title, nor any competing product. This is my subjective opinion.)

You should buy this game for one reason only: it's a fantastic action-shooter for the Mac. The game design draws you into the story of these elite Marines and keeps you going. Plus, the good design keeps you glued to the action and won't let you go.

Close Combat: First to Fight is the only well thought out action-shooter for the Mac. It even competes with some of the best that can be found on the PC, so you should rejoice that this is here!

I've played the Clancy games and they have less-intuitive control and the graphics are much worse, too. This game is designed with just the right combination of action and adventure for your skill level, and that's what makes it fun.

Pros:
- Fun to play!
- Great game design.
- High quality throughout: music, sound effects, graphics, cut-scenes, gameplay, menu design, UI
- Not very buggy. No critical crashes on my iMac G5 after 20 hours of gameplay. (I did have a glitch where one of the NPC 3D characters got "caught" on something in the environment which necessitated me restarting the Checkpoint.)
- Very fun 3D graphics and environments
- The game design. Well thought out. Interesting.

Cons:
- Some levels get repetiive and feel more like an "arcade-shooter" than an action-strategy game
- Cut-scenes are a boring way to "stitch" the "story" together and mostly get skipped (Wouldn't it be cool to have some of your best combat moves on that level "replayed" in a cut-scene to propel the story along? Now *that* would be worth watching!)
- Somewhat insensitive cultural depiction of most Middle-Easterners as guys withh beards and rocket-launchers
- Boring game color palette (grays and browns are everywhere). Even battle has colors in it, guys.
- Ridiculous "Graphics" user control panel with a dozen settings that make no sense to your average human being.

Bottom line: This is the best game I've ever bought for my Mac. I've been searching high and low for a thinking man's shooter. The "Doom III" demo bored me as did games like "Halo." This has more intelligence behind it. If you're looking for action without the boredom, this is for you.

I can't wait to see what Macsoft and Destineer come up with next. Tell these companies that Mac gamers love great action games and you will be blessed with many more fantastic titles from this duo. This is a keeper! AT LAST!

Nothing Special

First, I take exception to the marketing of this game as a realistic training aid. If nothing else, the time scale is way off. In game time I can do in ten minutes what would take me an hour in real life. It has medical kits as realistic as anything in Duke Nukem.

The ammo load outs are all wrong. You find additional ammo just laying around! (Can you say 'booby trap?' Sure, knew you could!)

The enemy does not behave realistically. I can zap people in one room and nobody runs in from another room. Is this real?

You have fights in sewers! And nice clean ones at that! These sewers are about three meters tall and well-lit. You have a number of scenes where you man a machine gun and blast people as they poke their heads out of windows. It is like like a computer version of a Whack-A-Mole game.

(One scene involves gunning down enemies as they run out of a mosque. Did the Marines really approve that?)

Second, and perhaps more importantly, the game will not save properly. When you start a stage, you have to start from the very beginning. If you try to revert to a save midway through a stage, you will find one of your Marines starts off seriously wounded. No reason for this. They just screwed up when they wrote the game. Other players on Mac and Windows have noted this problem also.

So all in all, a nice little shootemup. Nothing special, no insights into modern combat. You have play each stage perfectly as the save feature is screwy.

The 'save' feature began to fail after I wrote the first version of this review. I regret there does not seem to be anyway to reduce the number of stars for this silly thing. If it will not save correctly, it is not worth having.

What is up with the pricing?

Why is the PC version of this game $9.97 and the MacOS X version $34.99? Something is not right here.

One of the best first person shooters out there. This is intense! I bought a 5 button mouse for this game.
The Logitech wireless mouse. You will need it. If you liked Metal Of Honor, then moved to Call of Duty,
THIS is your next step. In Call of Duty you work with your squad to get things done. You worry about
hitting your own guys. This takes it a step further. You are in hell, and you need to use control. Lots of
it. Not only do you constantly give commands to your 4 man fire team, you also have to NOT shoot
civilians. With people running out of every door, some want to kill you, others want to run away, you
need to check your targets. Also the enemy is not in a bunker, they are EVERYWHERE.
You see 4 guys and move in on them, only to have a truck drive up the alley you are in and shoot
at you, or the window above the door you're in, has a sniper in it.
Very Tough.
Also there is an emotion engine in the game. You can rush up, killing the enemy, and freak them out.
They will also throw back your grenades, or take up firing a mounted gun after you kill the previous guy who maned it.

Good game. Lots of levels.
Complicated. Takes some getting used to. Prepare to die.... a LOT.
Think of Black Hawk Down.

No CD-Key

I only rated this game 5 out of 5 because I don't want to give a bad rating when I'm not actually reviewing the game.

I made the stupid mistake of not fully checking the description of the product. I got the game. But no CD-Key! I can never play it. I am not a hacker, and so I am mad at myself. But just make sure you know what your buying before you buy it. If it does not include a game manual, there is no CD-Key! Just a warning.

Best FPS for MAC

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

This is the best first person shooter (FPS) for MAC. I also own Call of Duty, which is also a great game, but I like the more current theme of the Middle East. I have not played Quake, which I hear is pretty good, so I can't compare it to that game.

Since the game selection for MAC's are slim, it's easy to say this is the best FPS, but overall, it's a great game, variable levels (east to hard) to challenge yourself at, and easy to learn controls.
