Blood Omen 2......

I was figuring this game would be another Soul Reaver(and in some respects it is)but I was pleasantly surprised. This game is fairly linear(not so much wandering around) and it drips with personality. You can't help but dig Kain and his arrogant attitude. I sat night after night playing through this game just to see what happens next in the storyline. Each level has such a high amount of detail that you'll find yourself stopping, every now and then, just to admire the scenery. I'll admit, it's not without its' flaws(collision detection, choppiness) but there's not enough of it to take away from the whole gameplay experience. Blood Omen 2 is a brilliantly thought out game, one well worth the experience of playing though. I think the thing I loved most about it was the thrill of the fight. About halfway through the game, those guys you go up against get harder to beat. So, when you do beat them, you feel like you've accomplished something. You owe it to yourself to check out this game. You'll be glad you did.
Here's hoping there is a Blood Omen 3.

Not a bad game for genre lovers. The Xbox version is slightlly better as it has smoother graphics and more gameplay.

Blood Omen 2 is a combination of incredible action, sophisticated(but not infuriating)puzzles, and an very neat plot(not to mention the EXTREME amounts of gore). it is an awesome game, and whether you are a "Legacy of Kain" veteran, or simply a newbie. I am sure this will become your favorite game. Did I mention that there is a TON of gore!

Could have been so much better

This game was simply a waste of potential. I am glad I rented this game first, because after completion, I had no further desire to play it again. This game portrays the vampire sub-culture in a very cool way. The story was entertaining, but the voice acting is where the game really shines. I sometimes want to play the game again just because of the great dialog. UInfortunately the gameplay is terrible. You fight with the same couple moves EACH time you get into a battle. Punch, punch, grab, throw. Unless you have a weapon then expect chop, chop, big chop. The only thing that adds diversity in the monotonous fighting is the few vampire ablilities you can use. Even then, its still going to be the same silly fight after you use one of your abilities. They would be better off making a really intriging movie from this series, because the game itself offers nothing but linear gameplay and tedious fighting, puntuated with wonderful dialog and great voice acting. Keep the directors and actors, fire the game developing team.

Yeah i think this is a great series!

This is the first in the Legacy of kain i have ever played and yes i like it, this story makes me curious to play trhe others which i hear is better , i must say the glitches piss me off and the controls and actually game at times really can fustrate you. but that does not take away the essense of the game Edios have the tenency to make game with lots of errors and some horrible graphical flaws example Hitman.
I will definitely play this series through this game wasn't so bad i love the story or did i mention the terrible Lip sync? ummmmmmmh oh well all in all a passible effot by Edios laters folks and gamers feast on the blod on humans ha ha ha ah!

If you do not follow the LOK games skip it the gameplay is stiff and annoying if you know the LOK story tis worth putting in your libary the gameplay is weak but all the games since Soul reaver have had many gameplay issues.

Edios did not keep their devs in check this has Voradore living when he died before the pillars fell,of coarse time travel is a option for some in any case thats the only part of the story that dosent follow the rest of the series well.

LOK:Blood Omen: Happens before the fall of the pillars
LOK:Blood Omen 2: 500 years after the fall of the pillars
LOK:Soul Reaver: 1000-2000 after the fall of the pillars
LOK:Soul Reaver 2: 20 years before and 50 years after
LOK:Defiacne: 500? after and the same year of the fall
(sorry if my times are off, time travel is sooo fun ><)

If the next game follows where LOK:Defiacne left off then Kain with the fullly restored Soul Reaver stands before the newly fallen pillars to fight the corruption of the Hyldan and to restore balance and his freedom from fate.

You got to love the series.

Blood Omen 2 is an action/RPG for your PS2. The story is about a vampire, named Kain, who had fallen in battle during an attempted conquest of the world. After 100 years or so he reawakens to find that his kind is fighting a losing battle. Your goal is to rediscover your power while fighting to destroy this threat.

Being a fan of the previous game on PS One, I was looking forward to using Kain in a 3D environment. The magic system is very straightforward and fighting has also been made uncomplicated. Add to the fact that the game has a built in tutorial and you have a game anyone can just pick up and play. For every power you receive you get a situation to instantly use it, allowing you to experiment with usually minimal danger. Some spells and abilities can be used at any time. Others have special conditions that need to be achieved first. This gives the player options to consider at certain parts of the game. For example there is a mist form that allows you become nearly invisible allowing for a chance to get away or perform a stealth kill.

What keeps me from giving this game a high ratting is based one major reason, FRAME RATE! In order to enjoy a game it has to be able to be viewed while playing. When I first purchased Blood Oman 2, I had a lot of problems with frame rate. My friends had the same problems. This is just the product of rushed development or unsatisfactory game testing. It hurts to see key seems where the voices aren't synched and it takes away from the main game as well. Some levels are so big that while I was progressing through them the game nearly stopped. Loading time is also a factor but compared with the heal-dragging frame rate, it's really not an issue.

Overall the concept of the game is sound. If you enjoy being a night stalker drinking the blood of innocent and not so innocent victims give this game a good try. If this not your normal cup-o-tea skip it altogether.

bloody good fun

i played this game over the weekend. my brother in law came for the weekend to visit and he had just bought xbox. this game was so much fun. if your worried abot violence then stay away but if your into scary, violent and a fun time this is it.
you play kain and are on a quest for blood and power. there is so many great aspects to this game to this game. for me the most fun was just killing townsfolk either with my claws, a club or the sword. you can pick up people with one hand and do many things to them. either throw them, choke them or beat them with a club or stab them with a sword. you gain the ability to go invisible like mist and some of the "mist kills" are quite wicked and evil.
i found the controls easy to use and quite easy to adapt to. i did not get to finish it, though. i only made it to the end of chapter II. also worth mentioning are the sound effects. the howling dogs, the eerie sound of night, the screams of people etc.. all in all this was a great game.

length of play a little disappointing

I got this for a teen that was really into the whole set of soul reaver games. It has some really well done movie clips but the time it took to finish the game was a little disapointing. Took about 3 days for a teen that didn't play it but off and on over a weekend.
