Got Redemption?

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 9 / 11

Though I'm a die-hard White Wolf fan, I found this game overall excellent. True, the disciplines don't follow the books exactly, but how could you possibly translate them to a video game. They require Storytelling action to perform properly. The video game does its best to maintain their functions. Among the concessions:

* Spirit Touch identifies items

* Celerity, Potence, and Fortitude must be activated and have a limited duration

* Drinking blood is a discipline with success based upon your rating in it

* All discipline powers are rated 1 to 5

It works well. The coterie tools are excellent, giving you advanced control over what you want the members of your party to do. Why didn't I give it five stars? Mainly, the lack of control. Sometimes a glitch traps my hero in a staircase or my coterie won't move so my character can walk around them. The characters don't corner so well, either, getting hung up on simple obstacles (especially in the havens). Still, the plot is miraculous. It follows Vampire's theme of being a "storytelling game of personal horror." The character spends his entire unlife searching for lost love, his last link to his ever-fading humanity.

Mac users--BEWARE

I have very mixed reactions to VAMPIRE. The graphics are fabulous, the game is loads of fun, and I'd love to show my support of the product. However (and this is a BIG however), I warn Macusers to beware of this product. After playing the game, my computer completely went haywire. For some reason, VAMPIRE completely destroyed my internal hard disk drive on my G3 laptop. The damage was so total that I had to take the computer to a repair shop. After doing a complete systems check and a difficult repair of the hard drive, the repairman agreed with me that the culprit was the game. Even now, my drive is not 100%--it shows some signs of collateral damage. Mac owners beware!

Also had problems installing on my Powerbook G3

I have a bronze keyboard Powerbook G3, and could not even get this game to install on my computer. I have all the necessary ROM and hard disk memory etc, but the install process kept on hanging. So if you have this system, then I would think twice about buying this game, given the problems listed by the gentleman below, who lost his hard disk as a result of this game.

simply awsome, a great idea for the company to make

Fantastic graphics, great game control, varied action, good plot. Unlike other reviewers, I had no problems installing the game or running - EXCEPT - it did crash a lot. But with frequent saves, it was still worth the inconvenience. (It did not crash my machine!). Finally, it was not so difficult that it could not be finished without a "hint book" like the Sierra games.

Great game wish I could finish it

I loved the game and got quite far with it, until for no reason it kept bouncing me back to the desktop. Tried getting advice from activision and still no joy. Love the game, the bugs are a bother

Fun But doesn't Work!
