Above-average game made better by movie tie-in.

I never even knew this game existed until I played it at a friend's house the day it came out, I was pretty impressed and bought it the next day. Three days later and I've finished with Ghost and am going back to play it with Niobe. I've got to say that it's not as long as it could be, like MGS2 it takes up a lot of it's time with cut-scenes but they aren't outright dull like MGS2 could be at times.

The actual gameplay is good, no better or worse than Max Payne(if that's what people want to compare it to), but we've seen that before. The thing that drags this game up from mediocrity is the atmosphere, the gameplay moves into the cut-scenes so well that you find yourself thinking, "Wow!" when you'd normally be thinking, "That will do."

I've noticed a lot of people saying that the 'hacking' system is revolutionary. Maybe some of you are too young to have played NES or Mega-Drive but seriously, all the hacking system is is a complicated way of entering cheat or level codes. Also, most (there is some useful stuff) of the stuff there is the kind of extras you get on a DVD and never bother watching.

But, for the game itself, it's definitely worth a look if you liked the Matrix.

THIS GAME KICKS MAJOR ... I WANTED TO GIVE IT 4.5 STARS BUT I COULDNT IT IS LOADED WITH ACTION AND ALOT OF SURPRISES. THE FIGHT SCENES KICK ... NOT TO MENTION THE BULLET TIME. IT DEFINATLY BEATS MAX PAYNE. BUT HEY IT WAS THE MATRIX THAT CREATED BULLET TIME. THERE IS SO MUCH OF THE GAME TO STILL FIND OUT. BUT WHAT I HAVE FOUND OUT SO FAR IS COOL ENOUGH. ... I NOTICED AN ANOYING ECHO IN THE VOICE AUDIO. DURING SOME SCENES. WHEN I REPLAYED THE SAME SCENE AGAIN. THE ECHO WENT AWAY. AND THEN AGAIN IT WOULD COME BACK AT TIMES. SO THAT IS MY MAIN FLAW IM NOT SURE WHAT MAY BE THE PROBLEM. BUT THE GAME IS STILL TIGHT.

This is a action packed video. The Matrix is exciting and full of adventure and anticipation. The characters are alive and colorful. Their every move will keep you on the edge of your seat. Due to the mild violence, I recommend it for teenagers over 13 years of age.

Not great, but very addicting.

This game isn't the best game out there. Especially for people who notice minor details in things, as I did. First off, the guns are horribly innacurate unless you are using the Matrix slow-mo gimmick. But that gimmick is VERY entertaining at times. The kung-fu is, on the other hand, just plain ugly. You get two buttons to use to fight, and he really only does two kinds of things. But, since this game is all about the Matrix, and it is a very movie-like game, with great cinematics, sound, and enough variety to keep it interesting, this game is worth buying, but I wouldn't say it is my favorite game of all time.

Cool at beginning--gets old quick

When i first rented this game i thought it was awsome untill i beat it--i was thinking about buying it--then i rented it again and it just got old it would be awsome if they put a 2 player multiplayer fighting in it (now that would be awsome) bu they didnt and the game isent very long and the story is hard to follow--dont buy this game just rent it

Great game, Too bad they didn't finish debugging it.

I just purchased the PC version of the game (3 days after it came out). Everything you have heard is true. The music is great, the cut scenes are engaging, the graphics are wonderful and "focus mode" (know to Max Payner players as "bullet time") is just flat out fun. Flying through the air to kick your enemy in the head in as bullets whiz all around you in slow motion (complete with visible air turbulance) is every bit as much fun as you thought it would be. The hacking is a neat ddition as well, though I haven't gotten too far into that yet. (Note: You will need a very basic familiarity with DOS or some other CLI to play around with the hacking).

The problem is, the game not ready for primetime quite yet. Most of the problems have to do with the use of the mouse. The mouse control is squirelly at best. I have died hundreds of times just trying to get my character to turn around. They mouse seems to always be over or under sensitive, never quite allowing you to do what you need to do. It gets so frustrating at times that I just have to quit and walk away. Game controls should not be something you have to think about, much less struggle with. Hopefully the first patch will fix this.

And God help you if you approach a wall. Your character can be under intense fire while running near a wall and suddenly decide to "hug" the wall. This basically converts he/she to your standard target ("hey, I'm getting shot up left and right, but at least I have cover!"). Similarly, you can be in the middle of a fire fight and the character will drop into "hand to hand mode". Unless you have focus time left, you will then faced with the rather interesting challenge of taking on a ton of bullets hand to hand (hint: bullets have no hands, you loose).

And the menus! How in the world did these menus get past QA? They work from the keyboard, but using the mouse to click on an option is an adventure in the world of random results. The mouse controls are so touchy that just one brief (and I mean very brief) click is enough to select the option you want, plus the options in the same positions from the next 2 menus that pop up menus. Because of this, I can click on quit and actually find the game reloading my last save and picking up where I left off!. All of this is solved by using the keyboard for menus, but its very annoying when you forget.

To sum up, Enter the Matrix is a great PC game that badly needs its first patch. These flaws do not keep me from playing and enjoying the game, but I will be so much happier when they are resolved.

Ah, the Matrix. One of those series that'll go down in history. This game, won't be going with it however. This game falls under that laughable category of "Movie Game" that us gamers generally, well, laugh at.

The makers do get some credit for enlisting the Wachowski Bros. and some of the actors from the series. But that's where the praising ends.

The game itself is buggy, the graphics are nothing to be amazed at, and the combat system...that's an insult unto itself.

If it weren't for this game having tie-ins to the movie or having anything to do with the Matrix at all, it never would have sold as much as it did.

This game is on most Best Game of the Year lists, but only as nominees. And those lists are made up by people who don't understand what a good game is. They just see how much it selss and figure "hmm Makes alot of money = good game!"

If you're a Matrix nut, give it a try. But for the rest of us Action gamers, there's better games out there.

I thought this game would be a bunch of bull until I played it at my cousins.

This game is so cool but you cant be Neo or Trinity or someone. It still is cool, it feels like you are in the game. You can do something called Focus which puts you in slow motion. It lets you walk up the walls, do special moves that are unbelievebly incredibly painful, and more!!! You can beat the crud out of the guys and everything. I am saving up for this game.

I am one of the few people who has bought this game. Personly i find it very exciting. The controls are mostly user friends, the character models are brilliantly done and the plot is great. The moves that niabo and ghost have up their sleves are amazing. The bullet time is the best ever. better than max pain and dead to rights COMBINED. But... to tell the truth, its buggy, choppy and the levels are poorly done. The audio isnt that great either. THe sound tracks and sound effects are great but...again choppy and buggy. These factors really weigh down the game. If you don't mind these and u want some GREAT gameplay then buy this game.
