The best boxing game since Mike Tysons punchout

This is the best boxing game in years. Yeah,FNR2 might've had better backgrounds but that's all it had that was better. This is almost August 2007 and I still play this game almost every day a year and half later.

I am boxing fan,i actually do watch boxing so maybe that's why i love this game so much. B/c it is actually like a real boxing match. This is not a Mixed Martial Arts game,or Tekken or StreetFighter, etc. this is a BOXING game. You can actually jab too which i love.

And what is everyone talking about? You can still do combos if you actually take the time to learn the controls. And the haymaker still works if you know when to use it.

The only small complaint i have is that just a few great boxers were left off. They ALMOST has a complete list, but no Sugar Shane Mosley or Larry Holmes?! Come On!!! Those are the only drawbacks to this game in my opinion. But as far as gameplay and longevity, this is gets 5 out of 5 on those and everything else.

I highly recommened that you buy this game. It is by far the best one so far. The graphics are good and there are many things to do. If you aren't sure about this game then rent it instead.

Dare I say better than FNR2?

The "slow" gameplay everyone whines about is REALISM. This game is a lot more fun than FNR2 because you actually have to be good, you can't just find a glitch and knock anyone out in any round you please. The stun punch is awesome, it reminds me of punch-out for NES. If you don't like this game it's because you aren't spending the time to enjoy it. It gets much better each fight. Keep playing and stop hating.

Dying to Play this game!!!!!

It sounds like to many people got carried away with the Haymaker happy FN Round 2. In that game you simply chased your opponent around the ring with your haymaker cocked and ready for firing. (that was not boxing, it was more a special move like in Street fighter of something). Sure Round 3 has it's issues, but overall this is what boxing should be. If you use a speed fighter than you have speed and have to fight that way, if you use a brawler, you have less speed and have to fight that way. This is the first game where the speed of Ali is noticeable and you can actually control the fight with your jab. The different fight styles present a whole new aspect to the game, now you have to pick and chose your punches when dealing with the different defenses that are used. The haymaker thankfully has been toned down. I enjoyed FN1 but hated FN 2 due to the haymaker usage( which if you watch a boxing match haymakers are not a huge part of the match). With bringing back the best of FN1 and throwing out the worst of FN2, you have a pretty good game on your hands. As I stated earlier FN3 has it's issues, with one of the main issues being in the career mode. (no rankings!!!!!)that is like having no polls in the NCAA games. one line on the boxers screen could have changed this "fighter currently ranked #". This would have been all that was needed, no need to see were all 50 fighters are ranked, but do need to see your ranking and your opponents rank. Another issue is the fight stoppage, you never know when you are in danger of this happening(to cure this, since there is no ref present during the fight, start showing him getting more and more on the screen as he gets closer to stopping the fight). overall if you want boxing FN round 3 is your game, if you want a slugfest, then Knockout kings is your game, if all you want is special moves (haymakers) then Tekken is your game. The Choice is yours.....

The best boxing game to date!

This game tops Fight Night 2004, and in turn it beats out the great Evander Holyfield's Real Deal Boxing from a long time ago. (Of note, I didn't much care for Fight Night Round 2; in my opinion it had too much of a reliance on haymakers and not enough of a reliance on boxing.)

Pros:

- This game is fun!
- The play control is good.
- This game has a lot of replay value.
- The play by play commentator is actually pretty decent.
- You can move and block at the same time in this version.

Cons:

- The CPU opponent is way too easy even on hard.
- There are too many variations of the super punch.
- There aren't rag doll knockdown physics in this version.
- There's only rap music in the soundtrack (you can turn it off).

In closing: if you're a boxing fan, I'd say it's just about a surefire bet that you're going to like this game a lot.

Almost got it right

The game play is wonderful. There are many different types of fighting styles. The create a boxer mode has improved. However, I would still like a little more detail for arm length and body type. The career mode is very boring and repeats itself. There just is not much there to work with. I would also love to see more fighters. I know that it is hard but having Tyson, Foreman, Mayweather, and Holmes would be great. If the game had more fighters and a better career mode I would have given it five stars.

Amazing action, powerful moves.

We love this game, playing alone or with friends it's full of action, you really get into the fights and has a lot of boxers for each category, career mode very detailed.
A must-have game. Just the details of the crowd are very poor, but action on the ring is very reallistic.
