Manhunt 2 will punch your balls off

If you liked the first one, you should enjoy this one.
The story is interesting, though I see where they're going with it. The graphics are definitely not state-of-the-art, nor do they need to be. Gives it a more gritty, sleazy feel. Nice touch on the health kits... very much in keeping with the character's mental state. The Wii controls are taking me a bit of getting used to, but I can tell once I get the hang they'll be a snap. So far as the controversial way Rockstar dealt with the executions... come on. If you are that hard up to see them go to youtube, there's a 10 minute "greatest hits" video highlighting all the unedited kills. At least we got the game. The sound design is outstanding and is making me rethink my career arc. A solid buy for only $40.00, and its only $30.00 for the PSP and PS2.

Worth it, but only just...

If you loved the first Manhunt, you'll probably like the sequel enough to make it worth buying. The over all freaky, gritty, and gross feel of the first game is there. The basic mechanics work much the same way as well.

There are a few cool new features. You have to react to enemies searching for you in the shadows now. You can also climb and crawl.

But like it or not, the edited version DOES hinder the game playing experience. Manhunt is a perversely violent and demented trip through a nightmare world. It's SUPPOSED to be. The flashes of static every time you slash, stab, or bludgeon in execution mode does effectively mute the money shot. Manhunt 2 doesn't even contain half the gore of its predecessor. Sickos (like me) who enjoy playing games like this simply BECAUSE of their graphic nature, will (and should) feel cheated.

There are other disappointments. The graphics and physics are not any better than the first Manhunt's. In fact, thanks to the edits, they're probably worse. And the camera spins like crazy whenever you try and run from multiple enemies.

Buy it if you loved the first one. Buy it just to show that there is a vibrant adult market for games like this. But hopefully, once the silly controversy blows over, an adults only version will be available for purchase online.

The executions are no longer available on YouTube. After reading someone's review I wanted to see the "executions greatest hits" and they were pulled. I agree that the controls are a bit strange, but I am having fun playing it. The game is definitely violent hence the M rating. I had to shut it off when my six year old came home from school today. It is not something that I want to share with him because of how extreme the violence is. I have to admit I am a bit upset with the cuts. I enjoy violence in video games. I liked the first one and I am currently enjoying the second. It rocks!

Defenitely dissapointed

If you played the first game the first thing you'll notice about this one is the executions. Compared to the first there PG rated. You cant even see whats going on in them. I had to turn the brighntess up all the way and squint like i was blind to get a remote idea of what was happening. A huge dissapointment from the first.
Overall gameplay is very similar the integration of the WII remote is actually very good. When you shoot you have to point the Wii controller as you would a good and it works very well. the graphics are also very similar. But if your looking forward to a game as crazy and gory as the first your going to be dissapointed

I should have rented it first...

...because if I would have fully understood the impact that Rockstar's edited kill sequences had on the overall experience, I probably would have passed on purchasing it. 1up had a very interesting point here (p.s. they're not fond of the game at all). If you take into account the motion queues that you have to pay attention to (which already distract the player from the on-screen action) and add to that the various blurring effects that were added to achieve an 'M' rating, what you end up with is on-screen sequences that are confusing and hard to follow.

A lot of people are complaining about the ESRB, but it isn't their fault. It is Nintendo's fault for limiting what kind of content they will allow on their platform; it is the large retailers' fault for threatening not to carry such titles; it is the publisher's fault for caving. I understand that they obviously had time and money invested in this game's development, but they should have held my ground...and I should have too. I should not have supported another party deciding what is and is not acceptable for me to watch/play/listen to/etc.

Hopefully someone out there will come up with a mod a la the PSP version to turn off the washed-out epileptic fits transposed over the kill sequences.

Frustrating and disappointing. And the real kicker here is that the game itself isn't wildly impressive to start with. Over-the-top 'AO' content just would have distracted the player from that.

Fun and worth buying but the edited kills takes away a lot of the excitement.

I agree with the other owners of this game about feeling cheated with the edited kills which is the only reason why I give this game 4 stars instead of five. Aside from that the game is fun and at the end it leaves room for a sequel to be made in the future. Hopefully, if there is a sequel made, they'll let sick gamers like me see the kills unedited.

Fantastic! with a BUT

The Wii version of this franchise is amazing. The killing sequences require you to move the controller in order to end your victim.

The BUT: Rockstar had to "blur" the killing scenes in order to censor this title for sale. I just reviewed the Bill of Rights and low and behold, there is nothing about censorship in there. If I had the money I would sue the ESRB and any affiliated group due to the total violation of said amendment. I am 35. I enjoy playing games like this. It is up to me to decide if I want to see or hear something like this, not any self proclaimed, unelected board.

Whatever happened to personal responsibility. Oh, BTW, I bought this at Target with Saw III and 50 Cents latest album. Funny thing, they weren't censored.

Not as bad as its brought out to me

I have just purchased the game and played it for a few hours and i have to say it really isnt that bad. Yes it is a let down that the executions have been edited but the use of the wiimote does still make it worth while. The gameplay and storyline is still there and performing executions with the wiimote is really fun not to mention u still hear all the gruesome sounds. And the price was also only 40 dollars which isnt bad cuz they didnt make u pay over 50 for it. Plus the ultra violence is still there I mean the game starts out with people throwing excrement at you. So rent or buy the game is a solid effort and hopefully rockstar will start a brand new wii franchise that wont be met with so much controversy in the future.

The game is fun. But it definitly doesn't live up to all the hype. It's not scary and not violent enough. Guess Rockstar caved in to much, bad Rockstar bad.

Interesting controls

The long awaited game is finally here... and to our surprise, at least for me...it has lived up to its hype. I am not done with the game yet but so far it definitely has been fun. This is not a game for someone who is not patient as you will be in stealth mode many times...but that's the fun part, when the time is right you will enjoy the kill that much more. Environmental kills are pretty sweet too using toilet seat covers, circuit breakers, giant rollers, manholes, hanging an enemy and a coffin of spikes ala Saw, Hostel. The only downside of it is if you can through the not so great graphics and not nearly as smart enemey AI, as they get stuck on walls and sometimes walk right by you. As for the controls...they are fun to perform your executions but of course as everyone has heard blurrs out most of the execution. You can still make out what is going on but sometimes you are too concerned about what the next gesture is that you don't notice what you are doing on the screen.
