If you ever played a 2D platformer, you gotta get this

This is unreal. Every Mega Man game (not the X series....soon I hope)on 1 disc. There is even music remixes for some levels, which sound great. And these are tough games, which is a welcome commodity. Even with all the latest 3D technology, these games are still a blast.

If you're not into retro gaming, stay away.

Gameplay. What's needed most in the game industry. Mega Man is here to show you exactly why he's had more sequels than any 3-D game out there.
As the title states, if you're not into retro gaming, stay away. This gives you the way Mega Man was in the 8, 16 and 32-bit days.
Capcom remains faithful to the blue bomber by giving the fan everything. From art work to clips of the old TV show, fans won't be dissapointed.
If only more game developers would care more about how a game would play rather than the graphics... ah. One day.

I forgot how frusterating these d*mn games are....

10 games on one disc...you really can't go wrong with that. I've been a Mega Man since his NES days, and picking up this disc brought back some memories. Those happy times of me throwing my controller in frusteration due to missing a jump and plummeting to my death in a pit or dying because I couldn't find the right weapon to use against one of the robot bosses. Yeah, these games are a blast to play, but they can p*ss you off to no end. These games demand precise, and I mean precise, jumps at certain spots. Miss them and you usually die. I just played the Iceman stage from MM1 right before I started typing this, and those damn shooting platforms caused me to spew obscenities and throw my PS2 controller at my cat. Even so, this is highly recommended, it's fun to go back to some old-school gaming. While the graphics and sound are obviously dated, the games are just as playable as they are today. Old-school gamers will probably enjoy this a lot more, but everybody should check it out.

Mega Man Anniversary Collection takes the original 8 Mega Man games, throws in two arcade Mega Man games (one unrealesed in the USA until now) and combine them all to form one hell of a great Mega Man package. Then Capeven added Navi mode to all eight games (something that was added later in the series, and can be turned off if you want to play them as they originally were) added re-mixed music, and added in a save feature to replace the pass codes from the old games. The PS2 version also includes a full episode of the Mega Man cartoon.

The graphics are tight, all of the games get their own slot here, but one thing can be said about all of them...all the games keep their original graphics. No graphical enhancements here, and if you really like Mega Man, you could care less. Mega Man 1-6 maintain their 8-bit style, and MegaMans 7 and 8 maintain their 16-bit style. The two bonus MegaMan games (MegaMan: The Power Fighters/MegeMan 2: The Power Battles), have those PS1 16-bit graphics. The anime intermissions in Mega Man 8 have been kept (though there is that DVD "grain" that you see on low quality DVD videos), too.

Nothing brings back the memories more than this Megaman Anniversary game. When I first put this game in my ps3 and began fighting cutman's level, I felt a whole rush of childhood memories. This is a great game for anyone who loves the old megaman games!

growing up, i only had games 3 and 5 on old school NES. when i finally got my ps2, this game was one of the first i got just because it had those two games i'd beaten so often and 8 others. a great buy for the megaman enthusiast.

The good stuff:

Great oportunity to have all your favourite MM games back and working on your video game collection.

You can easily switch weapons without menus, like on new ones.

Savegames!

Two Great arcade games included!

The bad stuff:

The games are emulated, and they did some mess here.

First of all, instead of using Sega Genesis mega man 1-3 trilogy games, they stuck to the NES ones. A real waste of great artwork.

Second: Game music from 1 to 7 is recorded. That's not as bad as they improoved the synthesizer on some of them. From time to time the music fades out and starts over, and thats ok. BUT... They took some of the soundtrack off! Topman soundtrack on MM3 is missing and was replaced with something from MM8 I guess. (I hope it wasn't some misstyping on the game code as 3 and 8 might be confused), and in MM2 the boss music was replaced for Dr. Willy's last form music. Damn! There are a few more missplaced musics, but I can't remember right now.

Third: Something is wrong on the emulation. You have a tiny delay on MM1 to MM3 after pushing buttons. It's not big deal but it can be really anoying sometimes, specially on some jumps.

Fourth: They redrew all NES in game menus. They are prettier but... They should have done it on the whole game, or in nothing at all.

Well, even with this, its a really great game! I enjoyed it all again a lot!
