Threw down controller before completing the first level

This is not a game that should have been released for a next generation console. Goldeneye on the N64 looked as good as this, and was about a billion times more playable. My girlfriend was shocked to hear such explosive foul language erupt from my mouth when the first level loaded. Switching weapons is tedious, and the analog controls aren't really analog (to sneak you must crouch and push up, up, up, up --- you can't just push lightly on the analog stick). Perhaps later in the game there would have been some interesting gameplay and strategy, but there's no way would I have had the patience to find out.

mmmmm think about it, i didnt and it was a bad deal!!

This game is not all that great. Graphics are choppy and load times are long. I say no one lives forever is crap.

Substandard gaming...

This Bond-wannabe game goes through the motions of a standard action game, but leaves nothing out of the ordinary. The graphics are dated, the story is used and the gameplay just isn't all that interesting. This is a dud in the action gaming world. Don't spend your money on this one.

This may have been a good PC game, but it's a shoddy port.

The controller setup gives you a choice of 4 predefined configs with no option to change button assignments, I find this unforgivable. To add insult there's no support for southpaws making the game a waste of hard earned cash from the start for me.

The gfx are quake style - chunky and with no lighting effects. The locations are varied but in some places quite messy. These gfx would have been quite something 3 or 4 years ago but now they look dated, Goldeneye looked better.

Gameplay is not so bad - given a good controller layout it would be much better. Frequent 30sec loading interludes do not do much for the pace though.

On the good side the dialogue is laugh out loud funny in places and the plot quite original - it's a pity to see some basic mistakes ruin the work of the original PC programming team.

Aviod - get Red Faction if you want a PS2 FPS... but if you really want the best then get Halo ;)

I was so excited when I first heard about this game. A femme operative going around blasting away bad guys with her assortment of goodies just has a certain appeal to it. Well...I've had it for a week now and I can't wait to finish it so I can move on to something else. An occasional flaw here and there is acceptable, BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! I can't count the number of times I was facing an enemy, got shot, tried to duck and cover, and the next thing you know I'm facing the wrong way, running directly into the fire. Maybe those gadget glasses in the game should've been seeing glasses instead. Now when I get shot, instead of retreating and hiding, I just have to stand there and take it like a man (I"m supposed to be a woman in this game). Too bad it doesn't have a "save anywhere" feature, then I could live with this problem. Hopefully I can finish this in a week and move on to bigger, better games. Producers of this game, call the guys at Red Faction next time before putting your game out on the street. You almost had it, better luck next time.

Great Game with a Bad Reputation.

To be honest, I love this game. If you ask me, it's worth every penny of the low price $29.99. Let me explain: First of all, most reviews you will read of this game are WRONG! Gamespot.com gave "No One Lives Forever" a 4.3/10. That's just wrong. Let me tell you why I love this game:

A. Good plot. The plot flows so much better than most shooting games and is rather thick. There is much dialogue between missions but it is all worthwhile and well-done.

B. Great Voices and Characters. This probably makes the game! The characters have advanced relationships with each other. Cate (the main character) is constantly scrutinized by one of her advisors and will always give him an attitude! The voices are very crisp and easy to hear.

C. New Ideas. In this game, you do things that most games would not even try to do! I mean, you shoot people parachuting out of an airplane as you fall thousands of feet! You also are a thief in one part and sneak around the cops to steal wallets.

D. Emotional. The game will get you nervious at times and its very undercover. For example, when stealing a purse, you may get realized and someone will run to the police. While they are going, you must run out of sight! Afterwards, he will investigate the scene including the area around it for you, even looking in every corner! Ingenious!

Now, there are some downsides but they aren't nearly as bad as you may think:
1. Graphics. They aren't the best on the system by far but aren't the worst either. I would say they are acceptable.
2. Controls. They do take time to get used to, but once you do, they become second nature.

Overall, a different kind of shooter and one worthwhile to try or buy!

The name is Archer, Cate Archer

Does that line ring a bell? Well for those of us who are fans of the James Bond series, it should, as it's a tip of the hat to James' famous pick-up line in the movies, in fact even the title itself is borrowed from one of the James Garner novels "Nobody Lives Forever".

With all of that in mind, this game should play like a James Bond game, and in fact it does, it even plays just as well as the recently made "Agent Under Fire", an official James Bond game. The graphics (while not the best the studio could have made) are acceptable, the characters are funny, there is the same sense of dark humor and action. The only three small problem are:

1. the weapons. If you're caught while having to change weapons, or reload a clip while in a gunfight and you don't hide first, you might as well consider yourself as dead, because they just gang up on you.

2. Another small problem is the L-3 directional button. Under most circumstances it's okay, but if you get a little jumpy, you can find yourself turned around, and that could be bad when you're trying to avoid a camera or spotlight.

3. In one or two occasions, you find yourself thrown into a situation without a clue as to what to do. Like the freefall level, you KNOW you're supposed to get to the guy below you to get his chute. But how? Okay, it's easy once you figure it out, you uh, swim. BUT, even that's hard to do when you have several other guys protecting their buddy below you.

Anyway, enough of the negatives, the positives are, if you line yourself up right, with the proper weapon, you can shoot two or even three guys with one shot, and can get them to shoot each other.

Oh, and before I forget, don't disregard the conversations you hear the characters having, while it may seem like idle chat most of the time (on a few occasions it is), there may be something useful within the conversation that you can put to use, sometimes right away, sometimes at a later level so listen in when you can.

Anyhow, I reccomend this game to anyone who is into the Bond movies, shoting games, or just all out action, but I do put a caution on this game for anyone under 13, because of the mild language and violence.

Entertaining - Fun play

Although the loading times are a little slow - this game is still very entertaining. The dialog between the guards when Cate is sneaking up on them is funny. The switching between weapons in a tight situation can be a little rough but all in all the game is fun - and there are alot of areas to explore. Try it out you have nothing to loose.

Its ok

Dear Maker of this Video Game,

I think this video game was a good one. But some of the times were very confusing. Example- When you had to find the private office of Dumas i couldnt find it. I thought i found it, when he was talking to his secretary, but i guess that wasnt it. I still havent found it i have been working on it for 2 days. Either i am not seeing it or i just cant find it. But i think that you should put some blood in your games, it would make it more interesting, to the player. Over all this game was a good one.

Thank you for your time.
