Give This Game Some Credit People!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 2

Sure there are some flaws in this game. At times there is a bad camera angle in small spaces and there is a very small amount of minor glitches in it. But those two things are the only things I don't like about this game. You people who gave this game a negative review must understand that not all games are perfect. Anyway, let me get to the point of what I think about "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" PC game. "The Fellowship of the Ring" PC game is a great game with spectacular graphics and brilliant sound. The storyline and game play are very well-done in it. It is not at all hard to control the characters you play as. The characters you play as are: Frodo the hobbit, Aragorn the ranger, and Gandalf the wizard. Those three characters are great at fighting their foes which are: huge spiders, evil wolves, trolls, orcs, and more. "The Fellowship of the Ring" PC game is a great adaptation of the author J.R.R. Tolkiens "The Lord of the Rings" book trilogy which I have read. This game goes by the book trilogy very well, which is good for a huge fan of it such as myself. If you are a fan, or a huge fan, of "The Lord of the Rings" book trilogy then you should buy this game. But if you are a fan of director Peter Jacksons "The Lord of the Rings" movie trilogy then do not buy this game. Trust me, you won't like it. You would probably compare it to EAs "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" video game that is based on the movie trilogy. But, this game is based on a book not a movie. So you people who critized this game and compared it to EAs "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" video game, which is based on the movie trilogy, just need to be quiet and pretend that "The Fellowship of the Ring" never existed. THIS GAME IS BASED ON THE BOOK TRILOGY [NOT] THE MOVIE TRILOGY!! For fans of "The Lord of the Rings" book trilogy Universal Interactives "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" PC game should be a great marvel!

Waste of Time

Almost a total waste of 8 hours. The story follows the book and the graphics are mediocre (when they are not exhibiting bugs), but I would have rather just watched the game cut scenes and not wasted my time. Go buy something else. This game would get no stars if that was an option!

An Utter Disgrace to Tolkien

The people from Vivendi Universal should be shot. They should be shot before they disgrace Lord of the Rings further by actualy making games of The Two Towers and Return of the King.

This is a game that had limitless potential, in fact half of the work on the game was already done by JRR Tolkien. Story line, setting, plot, characters (good and evil). This is a game that had so much potential that you could do anything with. The story behing warcraft is just a crude copy of Tolkien (men, elves, and orcs cmon guess who created them.) I'll bet you the at Blizzard or any other game studio would have killed to have the licence to Middle Earth

Vivendi Universal has only taken advantage of JRR Tolkiens fans, by luring them into a false sense of security telling us that its officialy Tolkien Enterprises and then stealing our money.

To round things off i would like to say that the moment you install that game you will experience problems with your ENTIRE computer (first they rob us then sabbotage us! maybe they hoped that if crashed our computer we couldnt play game and realize how bad it is.) Honestly, from the moment that cd went into the cd-rom drive i have hd nothing but problems. I uninstall the game and its like my pc recovers instantly from the black plague. Honestly!

My final advice is this. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!! UNDER ANY CIRCAMSTANCES!!

A great disappointment

When I first tried this game, I was impressed by the nice graphics, sound and atmosphere.
I had no problem with the installation or running, exept for that it crashed two times during the gameplay.
The cutscenes, though, was quite bad. The dialouges and editing was bad.
This game is also very different from the book and the movie, but it was good that they included Tom Bombadil. The gameplay is very straightforward. Only running and killing. An original hack-and-slash game indeed.

Master Frodo hit me with a stick and it hurt. A lot.

This game is great as far as dialogue and story is concerned(J. R. R. Tolkien wrote the story) and the acting isn't that bad. I have noticed serveral VO's from cartoons I watched as a kid, the cute lady hobbit(with the cutezy voice) in the Shire for one. Gandalf for another. I think most of these people were in The Gary Colman show and the smurfs or some such. Gandalf was the Snow guy from the Thundercats I think. The thing that annoys me is that even with the patch, EAX is horrid and non functional. If you are going to play a graphic adventure at least include decent EAX. Even an Audigy 2 doesn't work. That and the popping even when EAX is disabled is the sole reason I am cutting 2 stars off this bugged travesty of an otherwise good game.

I like hitting my witless side-kicks with a stick and stone.:)=)

Lord of the rings is okay but, could be better! The camera view is horrible! The Graphics are okay but a bit boxy and the if you are a fan of the movie this game will not satisfy you! The lands are not as in the movie, characters look totally different and the music you will hear will only be in the game, not in the movie! If you want a simple game with simple fighting scenes the this game will satisfy you!

It could have been better

I have played other LOTR games before, including The Hobbit for Gamecube, but I couldn't enjoy this game.
The first disadvantage is when you first start the game. A long ctscene plays, and every two to three seconds, the screen flashes white, which causes splitting headaches for people with eye problems.
You also must use a keyboard to play, which is extremely difficult; I can't even get out of Hobbiton without falling off a bridge. The game doesn't support gamepads (special controllers that you can plug in to your computer to play a game), and if it had, the gaming experience would be easier.
The graphics are choppy, which also tend to hurt your eyes occasionally. Sometimes, when you're walking around, it's hard to tell where you're going as trees and such sort of flash by.
There are two advantages, however, for this game. One is that it doesn't take as long as other PC/Mac games to install, and the other is that this game is purely based on the LOTR books, not the movies, so that you feel like you are playing the original adventure.
Overrall, get this game if you are a die-hard Tolkien fan, but keep in mind that there are more disadvantages than advantages to playing it.

In my daughter's words (age 8.5): I think this is an awsome piece of artwork that Vivendi should be very proud of,though I realized that the 2'nd hall in Moria was very confusing. It took me 1 month to figure it out. And so my sister named it 'the icky place.'But the fun continued. Fighting the balrog, slaying orcs and wargs, this is a lot of hack and slash. Although it's also a lot of puzzles and figuring out where to go and how. The graphics are great, though the characters' hair is very un-realistic, especially Aragorns.

This game is great. You people who dont like it cuz it doesent follow the movie are STUPID. It CANT follow the movie cuz they DONT have the movie licence. EA got that licence and THEY make the movie game. Vivendi got the licence for the BOOKS, so THEY make the BOOKS game. That is the reason for the characters not to look like those in the movies. And those of you who says it's bad can TRY to get a bit further before you open your mouth. THIS GAME IS GREAT IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH BRAINS TO PLAY IT
