The reaon I like this game is because, you get to wander, enlist, revolt,or unify China!!!When I first got a look at the game,I couldn't take my eyes off of it.You could choose to be a commander,a prefect,a warlord,or you could follow your dreams.I'm saving up my money to buy the game.I can't wait until Christmas than I can play all day long!!!! And like the game says,"Brave souls,Came forth"!

I gave it a 2 stars only because I loved the stroy so much and that's why I bought this game. Graphic is just way out of date and too much of planning. One example, Liu Bei will not and shouldn't never have to ask Zang Fei for any advice?! Zang is known for his low Int.!!! and why when Zang makes a suggestion such as doing this or that there need to be a screen for ruler Liu to ok or not??!!? I am playing Liu and Zang so computer should somehow know this and by pass next message screen.......is like I make a suggestion and I need to ok it next?! waste of time. I am still trying to figure out how to play this game, I think the game is just way too deep. Too much micro-management, sure it is something new to be able to play any player but you better just pick play one player only or you will end up permit your own suggestions etc. which is wast of time. Battle is pretty suck mainly because of the poor graphics.
I like it better the older series where you play as a ruler and try to unite China.

This game is boring, very very boring.

I rented this, and spent a weekend learning and playing it. I am not a huge fan of the series, but I am very well aware of its stories, and had played through basically 3-7 all the way.

This one had to be the worst. The graphic is even worse then 7, you might as well play it on a PS1, or even a super nintendo will do. The music is very repetitive, and drives me mad after a little while. Gameplay is so bad, I thought I didn't understand how it works at first, but after a while, I realize it's just the game.
You can only wage war once 3 months. The battle periods are limited to 30 days, and the only means to win a battle is you must crack the gate of the city you're attacking- in 30 days. The gates at some battlefields are impossible to break through, having over 2000 hp- every hit by my ram is about 5hp! After 30 days, I lose automatically, even when there're practically no defending troops left in the city. This is beyond stupid. Why limited to 30 days? I've not known any gates in ancient China where you need to bash more then 30 days and over 400 times and doesn't come down.
That's just one of the examples of the lack of play-testing and quality control from KOEI on this game. There're several others. Very frustrating.
The game is totally unplayable. You basically watch the computer play it out for you- running some numbers and monotone conversations. If it were all with good graphic I might have been okay. But this is super nintendo level graphic. The music is just plain repetitive.

Buy it if you don't believe me. I swear you're going to regret it, even if you're a huge fan. You will regret it.

I think this is far beyond all Dynasty Warriors games, and The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. If I picked a game made from Koei,IT WOULD BE THIS ONE!!! It has heros from Shu like, Zhao Yun,Guan Yu,Zhang Fei, and Liu Bei. It has heros from Wu like,Zhou Yu,Sun Ce,Sun Quan, and Sun Jian.It also has heros from Wei like, Xiahou Dun,Xiahou Yuan,Cao Ren,andCao Cao.

This game could be the best strategy game I have ever played. There is a lot of in-depth political strategies that only get more complicated the higher up the food chain your characters get. I'm guessing that if you looked this game up that you know at least a bit about the series, and that this is the best of the series, though I am yet to play Romance 9. I highly suggest picking it up if you get the chance, and if you really, REALLY like political strategy games.

Best strategy I've played!

This version of RTK is the best by far in my opinion. To do away with all the melodrama of other critics...this is one is the most versatile of all the series. The "growing pains" of your created character are directly impacted within the RTK world you play in. Lets be for real, what are the chances of a 90 rated free officer offering his services to a new jack?

The concept of getting to know an free officer and building relations was great. The battle scenarios and help/ tutilage through the different characters is another plus. Lastly, the concept of 'observing' first to increase productivity is even greater.

This is the collectors edition for the RTKer who wants to experience true and thorough gameplay.

This is the best strategy game i have ever played!!

This is my first time playing a rotk game but I have played the DW games by Koie and i loved them so I decided to try out this game to see if it was all it was cracked up to be. And I have never been so pleased with a strategy game. Ther is very little repetition between playes, u can be vertuly any general u want from the age of the "Three Kingdoms" period, and well..this game is great. if u like strategy games , or u just like the Three Kingdoms era get this game it's well worth it.

I'm gonna buy the book now!!

This game had me hooked for quite awhile. I first rented it just awhile back (I never played any other ROTK or DW games) and loved it. At first I made my own officer becuase I didn't know it was based off a book. It took me awhile also to learn the tactics to use against other people. After I returned it I rented it a day later becaused I loved it so much. Then I rented DW 4, which I thought was the hack & slash version of ROTK 8. I'm waiting for Christmas for someone to get it for me but until then I'll be paying Family Video to rent it.

It had some what poor graphics, but the addiction made up for it. In another review someone said the music was just a loop and annoying. The music repeated but it set the mood for the game. With some long songs it (the mood setting) would of been lost. You would of listened to it for musical purposes not BACKGROUND (BACKGROUND!!) purposes.

It was a little slower but you need to learn how to wait sometime or another.

Over all it was a wonderful game. Rent then Buy! (Just to see if you like it). Check out DW 4 and the Book(s) too!
