This game is amazing - one of the few games where my wife actually sat down next to me and wanted a go at it. I had to pull myself away from it to go to work today, and 1 hour later my wife calls me to tell me she's playing it... aaarrghhhh!

One of the Best Third Person Shooters on the 360

Wonderful game! Strangehold without a doubt packs more shooting into one game than any game I've played to date. If you thought Minority Report had a lot of enemies, this game is bound to shock you. It's hilarious to see the end of level stats read (300+ Enemies Down.) Beyond this, the action all has to take place while you're accomplishing other goals (like setting bombs, protecting innocents, infiltrating mansions, casinos, etc.) The graphics in this game are also gorgeous, pushing the Xbox 360 to perform beautifuly. On top of all this, Chow Yun Fat's likeness is a huge plus, along with a great story line and wonderful cinematics and sound.
In the end, if you have a next gen console and love shooting and action games, this is a must have.

EXPLOSIONS GALORE! 8 OUT OF 10

Stranglehold is all about explosions, fast gunplay, fast covering moves, pretty graphics, and cool combat moves. One of my favorite moments during this game is when my pistols would zoom in on a target I was aiming at, go slo-mo, and then literally watch my bullet guide itself to my target resulting in cool headshots in which my enemy would scream in agony before dying. The gunplay is excellent and easily makes you forget Midway's critically ashamed Hour of Victory's terrible gameplay. Other cool moves include diving over tables and other objects while going slo-mo blasting your enemies. You also get other upgrades to your abilities which makes the action all the more lucious. However there are certain things that prevent this game from being perfect. The missions at times feel generic(destroy a certain number of drug labs or boats) and the diving mechanic can be unwanted because the game does it for you when your moving to the side and you accidently touch a table. You don't really notice these problems to which is an otherwise amazing display of how far action can be done in a game.

Stranglehold was fun to play but I found it too simple after playing for a few hours. I just wanted to get it over with. After completing Halo 3, Bioshock and Mass Effect I was looking for something to tide me over until the next "best" FPS came along. Stranglehold filled that spot.

I passed it along to my grandson. I think he will get a kick out of the slow motion and trick moves. It is rated "Mature" but I did not see anything that offensive, not like Gears of War anyway.

interesting

i found this game in a bargain bin for 25 bucks an decided to pick it up i was actually really impressed the first hour or so playing it and really enjoyed it but after awhile there was just so much stuff goin on onscreen that i started to get a headache lol and i found the never having to reload kinda cheesy along with the endless amount of enemies flooding out of random doors a lil repetative but all in all i really enjoyed the action movie style stunts and destructable environments really fun theres just so much on screen commotion

Chow WOULD Be Proud ...

I discovered the films THE KILLER and HARD BOILED back in '93 and always admired the hypnotic gunplay and the charisma of Chow Yun Fat as he dispatched hordes of neverending thugs.
This title is the game equivelent of those movies and then some ! It's like a dream come true !
Can't wait for a sequel !

Good not great, but still one helluva ride!!!

Stranglehold is basically Max Payne meets, well, John Woo. This game is action packed from start to finish, although it is on the short side. The graphics are nice, and they get much better on the later levels. Controls are what you expect for a Max Payne rip-off, plus a few John Woo signature specials moves. The multi-player isn't too deep, but still fun. If you are a fan of Chow Yun-Fat/John Woo movies and/or Max Payne then you will probably dig this.

That said, this game could have been a lot better. First off, its rather short. There are 7 levels, each one takes about an hour or so. Luckily it is challenging and you will find yourself dying a bunch so don't expect to finish this in one sitting. The game also could have used more guns. Its got the dual pistols, assault rifle, shotgun, mp5, machine gun, nades and a rocket launcher. There was no sniper rifle or uzi-type weapon. You also could only have dual pistols. No dual automatics, which would have been fun. Lastly, there is some serious compression going on in the cutscenes. The voice-overs are top-notch, but I was expecting a lot more from the cinematics. The real-time cut-scenes look much better IMO. The AI is also pretty dumb, most of the time they either hold a position or run straight at you, nothing new here.

Overall this is a fun but shallow game. If you are a big Hong Kong action movie-buff, then this is the game for you. Otherwise its a solid rental because you can probably beat it in a couple of days.

Intense is the best word to describe Stranglehold, yes it is like Max Payne I'm sure you've heard but its so much more to.Its row after row of bad guys and many different ways to put them down. They did a good job of using John Woo's action style into the game. The game is short about 7 hours but it sure is one crazy ride, enjoy.
