Fun for the family

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 3 / 3

I have two young children and we really like playing this game. Making our characters (however unrealistic) was a 20 minute laugh fest all by itself. We love skeet ball and milk cans and it is hilarious to watch my 4 year old try to hit the tower of strength (he got all the way to couch potato). I also appreciate that it is another game that the whole family can play that doesn't have the stress factor of other video games (there is nothing trying to kill you).
The only reason that I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars is that I am unsure of the longevity of it's entertainment value. However it is fun now, and we enjoy being able to play this together. Definately a good value for young and old.

A Wonderful Family Game

I just purchased this game. The game has every carnival game you can think off (alley ball, milk jug toss, bowling game, basket toss, horse race, balloon darts, ring toss, shooting gallery, and many more). I spent about an hour trying to unlock the hidden games. There are over 10 to unlock. Some off the secret games are modified versions of others, but they are just as fun. My favorite game is the balloon darts and push-a-coin) it is fun to have the excitement as a kid hoping a ton of coins will fall. The one downside of the game, it does not seem to use your mii's. The game gives you limited hair styles to choose from and clothing for your character. You can buy items with the tickets you won or unlock items playing the games. You can unlock a hat and diver tanks at the dunk tank by knoking them over with your ball. Okay no more hints, have fun discovering the hidden secrets of the game yourself.

Nothing Great

The game is an assortment of minigames designed to replicate the experience of a carnival. The game is ok, but laking in many areas. First of all, there is nor replayability in this game. Once you figure out how to beat a game, you will get it just about every time. Many of the games, like in real life carnivals, are just about impossible to win. Cutting out all the games that require a great amount of luck without any real strategy, you only have about 5 decent games.

The only point of single player mode is to get prizes, which obviously don't exist except in the game. So your only choice is to play games based mostly on luck about 50 times until you get lucky and get the prize. The prize which you can look at, but serves even less purpose than Microsoft Xbox's gamer points. (At least those other people can see too)

In multiplayer, you can pick a minigame, which are very roughly characterized in an overdone menu selection screen that depicts signs and pictures that, if anything, take away from the overall game quality. Or, you can randomly pick 5 games, and whoever gets the most points from all 5 is the winner. However, since half the games involve mostly luck, you will find many of the games show one person getting 1, and everyone else getting 0. Furthermore, very few games let you play at the same time, which draws out the length of the game (especially with 4 people playing) You have to watch each person do there turn in between each of yours, which makes the very simple tasks this game involves even more tedious. It also pretty much takes away the multiplayer function of the game, and makes it feel not so much multi player anymore.

Many of the games are glitchy too. I have seen about three games where accidentally doing something causes the game to jam and makes it impossible to win or even play. And mind you, I have only picked up the game a few times, it's not like a play it alot.

If the game really wanted to be good, a real multiplayer, better unlockables(as opposed to one super game unlockable from each area, have more, and perhaps have the games have different properties) The menu screen would have to be redone, and the characters should integrate miis. If they wanted to have there own characters you design, they should have a least made some of the designs not butt ugly. (Or at least have on of the unlockable items be a bag to put over their head)

Lame Game !

I bought this for the family after reading the reviews here. I found it extremely boring watching the kids, and the kids played it once and went back to their other games. It nows sits on the shelf, used once and the kids aren't interested in it at all.
IMO, this is a total waste of time, Wii Sports or any of the other Wii games we have belt this lame attempt at entertainment. Don't waste your money, buy something else, if I could rate it lower than 1 star I would.

Kudos to the designers

Darts, Alleyball, dunk tank, all great simulations of the real thing! I wish this game was hyped up as much as boogie, because boogie was such a let down. Play this with your family. You will not be disappointed. My only wish was there was a game shuffle for single player, and that single player can challenge the computer. Other than that multiplayer is so much fun!

We bought this for our daughters, 4 and 7. This is a good game for the younger set as you can play about 30 different games, most of which don't require more than a movement of the wiimote or the use of one button. It's a great game for them to practice hand eye coordination and there's enough variety that it keeps them occupied. They love the carnival sounds and the heckling from the carnies. I have to say the test your strength tires me out though and that's the only one the little ones would have trouble doing. Great game.

If you own a Wii you really need this game.

I got this game for my kids Wii since the sport package was getting boring for them.
The 25 different games available is a good deal overall, and they can play by themselves or together and they work They work very well with the wii wand, the whole point in getting the Wii. Their favorite game is Balloon Darts and Shooting gallery.
If you own a Wii you really need this game.

Fun game, if a bit repetitive

This wide collection of carnival games is a lot of fun for kids of all ages. It takes you back to all of the old carnival games, but now with a reasonable chance of winning them!

In single player mode, you earn tickets and prizes by playing the games. The tickets can be traded in for prizes that your character can wear. The game play does get repetitive, though (how many times do you really want to try to ring a bottle?).

The high point of the game is the multi-player modes, where you get to compete against up to three other players. This makes for some fast-paced mindless fun. The only downside is that you don't win tickets in multi-player mode. If you did, this game would be excellent. (For example, my six year old likes to play against other people, but he also wants to earn tickets so he can buy prizes.)

My only major disappointment was that you have to create new characters specifically for this game... it doesn't use the Mii's from the other Wii games.

Overall, it is a fun game for the whole family, including a four year old and six year old.

The game is fun. Although some of the characters are a little smart out the mouth, it has a lot of fun games just like the ones at the real carnivals. I would recommend it for great family fun. At least my family and I really enjoy playing it.

"Step Right Up!!"

Carnival Games has quickly become one of my family's favorite games for our Wii system. This fun-filled, interactive game comes with over 25 of your favorite carnival games, including jumping frogs, dunk tank, skee ball, ring toss, and others. As with other Wii games, you can create your own character to play the games. You even receive prizes and coupons, too.

Instructions are given before each game so you'll know exactly how to play. There are even wise-cracking carnival workers who poke fun at the players!

I give this fun game my highest recommendation. Try Carnival Games and play some of your favorite games from the midway!
