My Review Of Fire Pro Returns

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 7 / 8
Date: November 20, 2007
Author: Amazon User

The 2007 edition of the classic Japanese video game series is everything I expect from Fire Pro Wrestling. FPR features over 300 pro wrestlers and MMA fighters, and several game modes like cage match, match maker, deathmatches and championship title matches. Of course, due to trademark laws from the WWE, etc., all the wrestlers' real names have been changed, but that did little to effect the enjoyment of FPR on PlayStation 2 and at an affordable price, it is a better alternative to either WWE SmackDown! VS Raw 2008 or the upcoming TNA video game.

Finally!

Finally, the legend of Fire Pro envades the US. I have been playing this series since the NES days. The graphics are not going to wow you, but they are perfect for this game and more than gets the job done. This game is about depth, creativity, and building your dream match. When you read any comments from TRUE fire pro fans, that is the essence of this series. Many thanks to the Firepro community for always letting Human and eventually Spike know there was a huge demand for this game.

This game allows you to create any wrestler you can imagine. the game also has many different styles of matches. The controls may be a bit tricky to work initially, but nothing as confusing as RvS08. Once you get the feel and timing down, the controls are pretty easy and you are well on your way.

The game does not have the standard American super star wrestlers, but you can create their almost perfect likeness using there creative edit mode. I mean you can create almost every star down to there clothes, haircut, mask, signature moves, gestures, and ring entrance. That is awesome! if you happen to create Steve austin, he can wave hello in his special way :)

I think the graphics get a bad rap with this game. They are cartoonish, but they are pretty crisp and well drawn. The 2D mode works for this game. I would sacarafice 3D for all the other options offered in this game any day. bottom line, your avatar looks like the star they are supposed to.

The true value in the game is developing your wrestlers and creating their AI. This is a deep option and now finally having an American version, incredible experince.

You can even create your own titles. I belive you can create up to 8. the game keep strack of title history. If you like customization and being able to play something with the family and friends. This is the game for you. Enjoy

The "Perfect" Wrestling Game!

Finally Fire Pro Wrestling has "Returned" to the United States!
I'm going to make this short and sweet, 327 in game wrestlers, 500 edit slots, belt edit, team edit, referee edit, logo edit, ring edit and
Match Maker mode! All of this awaits you in the best wrestling game I've played in 6 years! Well worth the $14.99 price tag this is truly a gem
to have in you PS2 library. If you enjoy wrestling as much as I do then you'll enjoy this game!

Don't beleive the naysayers...

I've been playing Fire pro since importing the Fire pro-X for the SNES and playing it via Game Genie. Fire Pro Returns along with Fire Pro Wrestling-D (for the Dreamcast) are throwbacks to the 2-D era. This game and the controls are near flawless and the amount of options are unparalled. If you want button-mashing or 3-D graphics, then please go purchase a Smackdown/Raw game. This game is all about timing, finesse, and most importantly.. Strategy. Look past the 2-D presentation and get into the gameplay and you Won't be dissapointed.

The price itself makes it a steal! When you add in the fact that you can create your own wrestlers and have them compete under pro-wrestling or even MMA rules, you CAN'T go wrong. If you're a fan of wrestling or MMA, this is your dream match wating to happen. There are also pre-made characters you can download via the internet if you want even more variation and accuracy. Great game, Great price!

GODSEND!!!

This is THE GREATEST WRESTLING GAME OF ALL TIME!!!! If you don't like this game, that's OK; you're just probably not a wrestling fan. AWESOME to the 3rd power. Did I mention it was awesome?

Fire Pro is back, this is a great title

Huge roster of available wrestlers, countless moves, and insanely configurable gameplay make this a must-have for any Fire Pro fan. Drawbacks include somewhat clumsy menu option partitioning, and no Victory Road option like most other Fire Pro titles in the past, where you basically take on the whole roster to become the top champion- what with the wrestler selection being so vast, I can understand why they didn't include this, but it's a personal fave so it's somewhat of a disappointment it wasn't included.

Graphics are 2D but very good; the moves look crisp, well-animated and true-to-life. Fire Pro Returns is more a wrestling *sim* than a wrestling game, and brings back that old-school element of when the wrestling industry was centered on exciting, fast-paced action instead of hype or 'fluff'- the game reflects that era closely. Cage and different death matches are included, as is a crazy 8-man battle royal which is just fantastic. The gameplay and playability are great. If you're already familiar with the Fire Pro series this is a very worthy addition to your PS2 library; if not, be sure to give it a rent to get a taste of the timing-based grappling system and 2D ring perspective- especially if you're a wrestling 'purist', it's entirely possible the game will win you over.

What this game lacks in graphics it makes up for it in move sets, wrestlers, Barbed wire, explosions. with 500 create a wrestler slots. Plus all the in game wrestlers are based on real people and you can rename them to who they are supposed to be. There sites out there who tell you who all the people in game are, and there tons I believe over 300. This game is great, it even has moves that other wrestling games don't even have yet like the Canadian destroyer. Its a great game if you like hardcore matches or if you just like wrestling. The control take a bit to get used to and there is a learners curve but once you get the hang of the game you'll have fun.

one of the greatest wrestling games ever made

if all you know is smackdown then you are missing out. this is not a game you just pick up and play, you need to put some time to learn everything. so if you are one of those people that just throws a game into the ps2 and expects to be beating it at expert in the next 10minutes this game isnt for you. it takes alot of practice to master the grappling system and that is what turns most people off. the great part is that with time this game grows on you and its replay value is amazing. there are 328 different characters in this game and you can create 500 more...no i am not kidding. you can create a ring, a logo that you can put right in the middle of your ring, a belt, and a ref that can count as fast or slow as you want him run for the count as fast or slow as you want him etc etc. there are over 1500 moves to choose from. no gimmick matches like ladder and hell in a cell but you get death matches with barbwire ropes, lighttubes and explosions...the game is 2D and some people see that as a bad thing. i dont because it reminds me of the years when i was a kid. its not bad 2D either but if you cant look past that fact you should keep playing your crapdown. if you are a serious gamer and you love wrestling/wrestling games (and especially if you played and liked wwf no mercy) buy this game and give it a chance...what do you have to lose? its not like its $[...] fire pro forever!!!

Awesome Game

This is the best wrestling game to pick up! If those of you who are disappointed in the WWE Raw vs. Smackdown Series, This is the game to play! You can create up to 500 superstars from the past to the present, as well as creating your own logos, referees, championship belts, and the wrestling rings. You can even save the same match type if you always play the same match type. The match types are amazing- from deathmatches to classic wrestling all the way down to MMA (UFC), which is so cool! You can even sort them based on the organization they belong to (WWE,TNA, ROH, etc.) It already comes pre-loaded with some american wrestlers as well as wrestlers from old and new japan pro wrestling! Great game! I Love It!!!
