pretty good but not great

The graphics are really good, and the effects, like the slow motion effect, are great. The AI is pretty good as well. And there is some humor in it. Like when you meet the first girl, you have to escort her out the building, and she keeps making sarcastic remarks like "Do you HAVE to kill EVERYONE?!?" I thought it was pretty funny.

Now for the bad parts of the game. I think the thing I hate most is that your character cant run fast. In other words, he can never sprint. When he walks, he walks extremely slow, and it's not a video card problem. And when you toggle on run mode, he only walks a little faster. He is certainly not capable of running fast at all. His slow movement, combined with very repetitious mazes of office buildings makes it a bit boring.

Other than the fact that most of the maps are repetitive, and your character can't run fast, ever, I give it 4 stars. I only have to knock of stars because they made it so repetitive. But there are enough points in the game (although not often enough) where the action is absolutely entertaining.

A little disappointed.

I have been waiting 6 months to play this game. I have just built a Vista computer and loaded it up. Graphics are excellent and artificial intelligence is very good. However, I find it very repetitive.

WOW What detail!!

Playing this game with a 8800gts video card and a 22 inch screen is just about as fun as you can get

Because of hardware issues I wasnt able to play F.E.A.R. until recently. Now I know what all the talk was about. Although I am only running at medium settings the game still looks very good. On high I had extremely low FPS on a X700 but graphics looked fantastic. Gameplay wise it is fun, better than your average shooter. The sound and environment really drew me in at first, very spooky! But the scares become predictable after about an hour of gameplay. Also I liked how the flashlight could be used along with the weapons unlike Doom 3 which was extremely annoying to play in pitch black environments. Highly recommended since it lived up to its hype.

Looks awesome at medium resolution

I have a really lousy (GeForce 6600GT 128MB) graphic card.
but at the medium resolution, which the game hardware detection
adviced me to run, it doesn't slow down below 75 fps,and it looks just awesome. You don't have to buy a top notch graphic card to play this game.
I'm wandering, though how this game will look on video cards like
6800GT or 6800 Ultra.Wish i could afford one of these.
I gave this game 4 stars, because the environment is not as good as in Half Life 2.Endless maze of coridoors.
But all the weapons, shooting and fighting simply the best i've ever seen.

Best AI ever!!

i've played countless first person shooters now, and i have to say, F.E.A.R. is one of the best games i've played, if your looking for a challenge in shooting enemies then this would be it as it has the most impressive AI's a game can give, this is a MUST for 1st person shooters, don't miss it out!

Awesome Graphics, Original Storyline, Great Multiplayer options, What more could you ask for! I played this game for ten minutes and got sucked in. . . The things that stand out most are awesome weapon power, SLOW DOWN TIME OR SPEED UP TIME DEPENDING on how you view that, Push the conrol button and speed thru the level massacring the enemy with any weapon. Millions of hidden items in this game, you'll need to find most of them to power thru the levels. And lastly, Finally a great multiplayer interface, makes this the icing on the cake. Awesome multi- levels, great hidding spaces, BIG BANG FOR MY BUCK. . . . 5 stars nothing less.

Having a new dual core machine, 1gB ram and a ati radeon 1600xt 512 mb video card, I had to pick this much hyped game up to see how my computer ran the game. After turning down a couple settings just a hair, I had the game running consistently around 50-60 frames per second, and could easily tweak things higher. One of the things F.E.A.R. incorporates that should be in any shooter is a self-testing video that gives you frame rates and makes it easy to see what makes a big difference and what doesn't.
Now for the game itself. Wow. Scary as heck, and very, very gory. Downright disturbing. I wouldn't let anyone under 16 even think about this one. Language is adult, almost as many f-bombs as real ones in this game. The story gets so convoluted that it's easy to forget. This game is groundbreaking in the same way that the first Resident Evil for PS One was. Terrific gameplay, and difficulty levels, unlike some shooters (GRAW being the worst example), is spot on. I played it through on the "normal" level, and it was challenging but not too much so. I enjoyed the game enough to actually play it through again on the next higher level. I'm not an online player, so single player experience is of paramount importance to me, and this one delivers. I've gone on too long. Just pick this one up IF you are a fan of the genre.

Not Bad

I didn't think this game was going to be that creepy, but it turned out to be more than that. It makes you jump when you least expect it too, but as some reviewers said, it doesn't amount to anything. Similar to Doom 3, you'll know when something "scary" is going to happen, but in this case, you don't ever get attacked by anything, just spooked.

The game's AI is very good, knocking down things to take cover, and they'll even try to flank you and trap you if you're not that careful. Sadly, there aren't a lot variety in the enemies. Later on in the game, you see the same soldiers attacking you, only they have more armor on. Environments do tend to look the same everywhere you go, too, and it's always night time. How else is the game supposed to be creepy, right? The "ending" is very disappointing, but that's why there's FEAR: Extraction Point. I don't have that one, but I heard it falls short as well, about a 4 hour game.

The sound in this game will show you how important it is to hear everything. If you have a good sound system set up, you'll definitely appreciate this, which brings me to the next topic: The Online Multiplayer.
If you have your headphones on, this game does a great job in picking up every footstep and everything minute sound your enemy makes. Therefore, not only do you have to listen for your enemies, you have to watch where you step and WHEN you move.
There aren't too many maps too choose from, but this game takes advantage of new ways of attacking, such as the jump kick and the kick slide, which gives you an easy kill everytime. Testing your skills against players from around the world will truly prove how good or how bad you really are.

Lastly, and probably most importantly, make sure your computer can handle this game!! If you don't have enough RAM or a good graphics card, this game will chug your system to its knees. No joke either. It's preferred that you have a dual core to have this game running smoothly, but that's not always the case. Just set your settings low, and you should be fine.

Overall, great game, although nothing too ground breaking. The sound is excellent, and if you have a good video card, the graphics are superb. Enemies are a bit repetitive and levels all look the same, but playing the game online will make you appreciate this game so much more.
