Sly 2 is more of the same of Sly 1 which is fine with me because I love the first game. I think the first was bit better though. I could be wrong, but I think the controls were tighter in the first and the camera moved better. The game is more difficult which could either be a good thing or a bad thing. Some people like easy games.

Sly 2: Band of Thieves is a terrific example of what a video game should be, what with its cell-shaded graphics, hilarious characters, and terrific gameplay. Sly 2 plays much like an RPG, much to my liking since I heart Final Fantasy. This game also has a little bit of Splinter Cell mixed in as it involves stealth to avoid enemy encounters. The game is simple to use. Even my little sister found the controls easy to deal with. Murray and Bentley are also playable characters this time around, a treat for Thevious Racoonus veterans. The graphics are much like Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker ( I hope Sony doesn't sue me for comparing their products to Nintendo! Hee, Hee!). Also, the guys at Sucker Punch had a very original plot. Think Ocean's Eleven plus Dr. Dolittle and you've pretty much got it in a nut shell. Overall, a terrific experience. 5 out of 5!

Entertaining Sequel

I was under the impression that "Sly Cooper and the Thevious Racoonus" failed to find a niche, since it was a bit difficult for kids, and a bit too cartoonish for older gamers. Happily, I must have been wrong - "Sly 2" is as fun as the original, with some added dimensions that add to the entertainment value of the game. The game is more "open-ended" than the original. In each level, several missions are presented - usually a couple for each of the three controllable characters - and you can choose the order in which you tackle the missions. The use of 3 characters, each with his own strengths and weaknesses, is of course new, and in general it's an improvement, although it can be more difficult to get Murray and Bentley to certain places than may be necessary. The graphics are great - if anything, they're a slight improvement over the fine look of the original.
My only complaint about the game would be the repetitive nature of some missions. At times it in necessary to do the same thing 5 or 6 times, which can make the mission rather tedious. All in all though, Sly 2 is a worthy sequel that has apppeal for gamers of all ages.

Sly 2 is twice as fun!

Back when i was still looking for the first Sly Cooper game, my mom asked this guy at a store if they had Sly 1. The guy said no but asked if she wanted to buy Sly 2 instead. She said no, but asked if it was any good for the future. He said "Well, you know why they call it Sly 2 don't you? Because it's twice as much fun!" He couldn't have been more right! I beat the first game, so i decided to move on to the second game. I loved the first game, but it was short. This is much better.

Rather than just playing as Sly, you can play as Bentley or Murry. Sly is still my favorite, but Bentley and Murry are both great too. All of them have their own special abilities that make them useful for all kinds of situations.

Sly: He's good for pickpocketing and sneaking around anywhere. Unlike the other two, Sly can slide on ropes, climb up pipes, and get to other areas Bentley or Murry couldn't normally get to.

Bentley: In hand-to-hand combat, Bentley's probably the worst out of the three. Don't let that rattle your bars, though. Bentley is the ultimate in stealth. Just use his Binocucom (did i spell that right?) to shoot darts at enemys to put them to sleep. When they're making ZZzz's, plant a bomb and get out of the way. Your foe's about to go up in smoke.

Murry: Murry is useful for one thing: fighting. Murry can knock out any enemy you come across with only a few punches. He's not the brightest bulb in the box, but he's a fun guy to play as none the less.

This game is great. In the first game you were battling the Fiendish Five. Now, you're going after someone else. In Sly 2, you're after the Klaww Gang. Your main enemy before was Clockwerk, right? And, if you beat the game, you kicked his butt, right? Well, now you're going to save his butt. That's what i said. You're going to save Clockwerk's butt. Well, not really.

The Klaww Gang must have heard about you kicking Clockwerk's butt, because they went to the lava pool where you did the kicking and stole Clockwerk's parts! (Whoa! For all of you out there who took that the wrong way, let me remind you that Clockwerk was a machine and his "parts" are, for example, his tailfeathers, his wings, his eyes, and even his heart. Now, i hope we have that cleared up.) Anyway, you have to get those parts back before the Klaww Gang does something with them.

Also, some new characters are being introduced, along with the Klaww Gang. Carmelita is back, but now, she has some assistants.

Constable Neyla: I think she's supposed to be some kind of white tiger, but i'm not sure. She's about as sexy as Carmelita, so i guess that's why they are working together. Even the greatest thieves can't excape sex appeal. Neyla has a way with words and can make anyone trust her. But can she really be trusted?

The Contessa: OK, i have no idea where we got a lady crossed with a spider as a criminal psycologest, but who would expect a racoon working with a hippo and a turtle? I never liked the look of Contessa, but now that i have gotten to her in the game, i dislike her even more than before.

That is as far as i'm going to go. I've got typers cramp. Anyway, i hope you consider this game. If you havn't played the first one yet, play it, just so you can get a feel for the set up. Also, you may want to see what Clockwerk is about. The game is short, so it won't take you long to get to Sly 2. Both are worth the money. They belong in anyones game collection. (Dang, i didn't know i typed so much! This thing is looooooooooong!)

Sly 2 RULES!

Sly 2 just plain rocks. it completly beats the original. In Sly 2, you can not only be Sly Cooper, but you can also be Bentley and Murray (you could be Bently and Murray in the original, but you could only be Murray when racing for a treasure key and the only time you were Bently was when you hacked to shut down the toxic gas). Plus, you get MUCH more exploring space than Sly Cooper and the Thievius Racconus. One of the best things about the game is that you can steal much more stuff (you can pick gaurds' pocket's {don't worry, its hecka easy, you just have to not accidentally touch them} to score some coins and sometimes even find stuff you can sell, and even nab something really valuable from a small stand). Basiclly, this game rules and anyone who says otherwise is INSANE!!!

I haven't enjoyed a game this much in a long while. To call SLY 2 a sequel is not giving it enough credit. SLY 1 was a fun action platformer, ala Crash Bandicoot. I enjoyed it, but this is an entirely different animal.

To begin with, the levels are free roaming. Though compact, they are filled with details. Sly's sneaky moves are rewarded with exploration. Want to get in that castle? You can sneak across the rooftops or follow telephone wires, or crawl through a hole in the wall, or even sometimes sneak right through the front gate (if you've got the guts). The consistency of the levels is such that as you perform missions, you feel like you're actually working toward something. Like a real heist. OK, real is too strong a word. SLY 2 is a world of cartoon animals and outlandish schemes, but that's a huge part of the charm for me. Plus, I really like the characters, including the villains. Badguys and goodguys are very neat to look at and very fun in their personalities.

There's also great versatility in the game mechanics. Bentley the turtle can't fight very well, but he's got sleep darts and explosives, an RC chopper full of bombs, and computer hacking skills that play like a simplified (but fun) version of SMASH TV. Murray the hippo is ready to pound his way through trouble, sometimes even hopping in a tank or bashing his way into solitary confinement (for a greater purpose).

As for Sly, he's just cool. He's so sneaky, and it's fun to pickpocket a guard and vanish without him ever knowing you were there. There's loot scattered throughout the levels and if Sly can find it, steal it, and get it back to his safehouse there's a big payday, a sense of satisfaction, and maybe a new ability or two.

The game has a little bit of everything, which could make it a bit scattered but the execution is so much fun that this game is definitely its own.

There is only one weak aspect for me. The final boss isn't very hard, and the ending is a bit weak, almost a TO BE CONTINUED... kind of thing. I don't like that in my books, in my television shows, and in my video games. Still, I'm looking forward to SLY 3, and highly recommend this game.

THIS GAME ROCKS

This game rocks. I love this game so much. I think it's the greatest game ever even better than the Sly 1 game.
