My wife hates it!

I love this game! I love the fact that there is a Hall of Fame for the great players in the Career Mode to entire after they retire. I love the fact that everything is editable, from creating players to editing players (although the stats are right on). I love how smoothly the CPU-General Manager works with you to make trades go down fairly. Flat out, I love this game so much. My only quarrel? Why oh WHY doesn't this game work on Windows 2000?! I hate Windows ME! I hate it! It is the worst thing ever! But, I love High Heat 2003, so I'm stuck. I'm just waiting for years from now when I get sick of High Heat so I can put Windows 2000 back on my machine.

Newer is not necessarily better....

In this particular case, however,IT IS... I have the 2002 version of HIGH HEAT and I thought that one was much better than the 2000 and 1999 editions, but the latest is definitely the greatest! Everything about High Heat 2003 is terrific! The only problem I had with it was getting it to play properly. After I cleared up that problem it was smooth and exhilarating sailing - complete with, perhaps, the most realistic play of any PC sports game I've yet to see or hear about from any of my fellow baseball game enthusiasts on the internet. I enjoy playing the older games because the players are so familiar but this most recent addition to the High Heat family is the most fun for me.

There's only one word you can describe hh03 is FRANCHISE. The whole game is emphasized on franchise where you draft rookies control a minor leauge system trade for the next young superstar and have players improve through the years. You can LITERALY go through 60,000 YEARS. This game is only for that computer freak that likes solid franchise games because if you want this game just to play games and hit homers your making a bad choice.

Good, but not good enough

High Heat Baseball 2003 should not have actually came out until 2003. The game graphics are really great, but the sound is terrible. The music cuts up often and drives one crazy. Also, the commentators are annoying, have nothing interesting to say, and say almost the same thing all the time. My biggest problem is that I am a big Reds fan and several pitchers and players have been left off of the roster. The AAA and AA teams are also missing several players that have been there since 2001. I also tried to trade players for players from other teams that are now on the Reds and some of them aren't even on the roster. I think that they just ignored the players on the DL or inactive rosters at that time.
Most people's argument is that the game will not work with USB controllers. That is not true. I use a Microsoft Sidewinder and it works like a charm. Playablity is standard, but if you play against the Giants, no matter what you throw (even balls)-Bonds will knock it out of the park or at least get a base hit. Real realistic, huh.
Anyways, it is an overall fun and interesting game to play. Just needs a longer look taken at it by 3DO

Great Game @ A Great Price

This game is very fun and entertaining to play. The graphics are good, and you have lots of options to choose from. Some say the graphics aren't as good as the Triple Play series, but they are much better than my Dreamcast 2k2 baseball game. If I have one gripe about this game, it's the computer baserunners. They can go from first to third or second to home and the play is never close. Other than that, I love this game!...You can't go wrong with High Heat 2003!

Disappointed

I purchased the Microsoft game pad to go with this game, but it doesn't let me pick off a guy at first or second. Also, I followed the directions on the gamepad for pitching but the computer team continually clobbers my pitching. My pitches seem to all come in at the same speed and the same location no matter what I do and I'm usually losing, 10-3 in the third inning. One hit after another, one game after another. Not very realistic. Definitely tilted unequally towards the computer.
Would not recommend this game unless it levels the playing field. Have gone back to my High Heat Baseball 2002.
