Very fun game along with a great story line. I've played Star Ocean games since the days of PS1, and the whole series has always been underrated. This game is definitely worth buying.

I love Final Fantasy, it has everything other games have, story and gameplay, but something on it wan't right, battles. Star Ocean, surpasses in every way, the conection of the story with Earth and not only imaginary world. Thect that humans have such an impact in the universe, the detail of the UP3. I'm not that far yet, still going to Aquios, but DAMN. its awesome, easier to control your health, of course if u use certain special moves u lose HP, but only makes an impact in the beginning while ur still weak. His character in the beginning seems kind a retarded but i'm starting to see a change, into a more competitive, no-rule-stuck up guy. I approve it, manufacturing, real battles, MAZES, HUGE... not like Final Fantasy that all u have to do is follow the trail... BUY, u wont regret it

good game but...

this overall was a great game but with the constantly the same keys and holding times this game got old fast.and the finial boss i think they could have made his a little harder with all that health and so much power. if you are thinking of buying this game i recomemd that you buy the book because there is alot stuff the do and you will not find it by yourself.

well, i'm a RPG FULL WAY fan, I MUST PLAY ALL RPG GAMES, and one that really catched my eyes is this game, one wicked storyline is legend like world like a past but at the same time they have technology to go to other planets, the fights looks to see really cool and i just love the way they put the HP and MP, i like it just like .HACK both display it with so many colors is cool. the ppl looks cool too.

***Spoiler warning!***

At first, I thought this game rocked. The graphics were cool, the story was amazing, the battles are good. But then,as the game continued, I started to notice one thing: this game has some allusions that would be offensive to anyone who believes in God.

The main conflict of the game centers around an armageddon-like event, where the creator of the universe decides to annihilate everyone because "we" (people in Star Ocean universe) had delved into forbidden science. Now, here's the part where I find offensive:

Your ultimate goal in this game is to defeat the Creator of the universe, i.e, the one civilizations in this universe would call God. One of the enemies you will face in this game is the angel Gabriel. Need I say more?

Maybe I'm being overtly sensitive... but to me, the idea of killing God is something I would not even want to entertain.

If you believe in God, and are considering purchasing this game for yourself or your kids, don't.

Gaining Levels...

I enjoyed this game for the most part, the graphics are excellent, and the storyline is good. The battle system takes a little getting used to; however once I was used to it I liked it. It is a lot like the old Star-ocean on PS1. My main compliant is that I ended up spending so much time gaining levels, especially before the last boss. Also some of the music can be a little annoying.

Fun but Infuriating

Star Ocean isnt as bad as some people say it is, however it does still have its short comings. The battles are really fun if you have patience. I found the fact that I could roam around to be helpful because I could use Nel as my command character and just stand back and heal the party while they fought.

As for the voice acting? It could have been a little better. But it wasnt horrible. It is true, tho, that Sophia makes you want to kill her whenever she opens up her trap to speak. Other than that Star Ocean is a good game with lots of freedom, lots of things to do, and good music. Its challenging and the bosses are NOT pushovers but if you pace yourself, get some good food, and clear your schedule for a day you will have some serious fun.

Worst game ever.

Horrible story, combat is waaaaaay too complicated when compared to other games that have real time combat, and THE VOICE ACTING IS THE WORST YOU WILL EVER HEAR IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE!!!!

Good gameplay, terrible story

The graphics were great. The battle system was different than most RPGs, but it was ok. The gameplay was pretty good (like camera angles, manuverability, ect.) But there were a lot of things I didn't like. The story line started out ok but got really boring and was kinda stupid as it progressed. And the end was terrible. The 30 mins or so it took to watch it could have been much better spent doing ANYTHING else. I also didn't like the method for upgrading weapons. You had to recruit people to make stuff, make certain items and then add it your weapon. But they never made anything all that great for me (and I spent many hours trying). I think this game was a flop.

Larger Then Galaxy Game!

It really is! Magic is O.K but symbology rocks! And Fayt dosen't just suddenly learn sowrdplay he hones it over years of vuritual reality games. I may not be far but I'm addicted already! The PA's are also really cool! But it stinks that not all characters are permanet. Buuut,if you don't like all-around perfect games don't get this.
