buy this game or die! (literaly!) this is an amazing game!

I'm just kidding about the die part! But just if you ever bump into me over a internet sever you will die!

I have played, studied, and have been amazed by this masterpiece. I've had the most recent tests for Q3arena and the add-ons for it and they are top-notch quality and fun. If you have the right hardware and a good, compatible computer with a nice 3D card such as a TNT2 ultra or Gforce that support 32bit colors you will enjoy this game. I have seen the games that try to mach up to a game like this, such as UnrealTournament and they dont come close! I tell you that this game is unbelievable, and is far ahead of it's time! I not just talking about pretty looking effects, but I am also saying that there is incredible detail and realism such as 360 degree sphears and real-time reflections that actualy show the world around. If you didn't like Q2 (i cant see why you wouldn't) you will be more than pleased with this STATE-OF-THE-ART tech that is leaps and bounds ahead of it's time. OH! and by the way, this game is way better than Half Life. hope you enjoy!

Instant Classic

If this is /anything/ like the latest test, this is deffinately an instant classic. With the latest installment of the Quake series, Id decided to drop single-player mode altogether (even the single player mode in this is nothing more that multiplayer with bots) and completely focus on multiplayer, as it is light-years faster paced and much more fun. Although Half-Life is undoubtably the best single player first-person shooter, Quake 3: Arena is without doubt THE multiplayer FPS to buy.

Quake3? UT

This is just a souped up Quake1. I for one don't know how ID makes a living selling the same game so many times. It has cool graphics, but the gameplay is very subpar. Compared to it's competitor, Unreal Tournament, Quake3 is miles behind. I was looking forward to q3 since q2, but when I finally got the first "test" I was very disappointed. I heard of Unreal Tournament and downloaded the demo, and now I am addicted. If it's demo with only 6 levels can get me so hooked, imagine what... well you get the idea. Unreal Tournament CLEARLY outdoes Quake3.

Quake3 gameplay

Unfortunately, as Quake3 has probably only just been released in the UK, I haven't had the chance to play the full game yet. however, I have downloaded the 50MB demotest, and I have been a Quake fan ever since the original was released. To people who have yet to experience Quake, I can inform you that this is NOT a sneak-em-up or first-person type strategy affair. This is pure, simple, fast-paced action. You'll probably only like this game if you either enjoy the best graphics the gaming world has seen or very, very fast action.

And there is no doubt that this game is by far the fastest of the Quake trilogy. Quake I was fast, QII slower, but with better graphics and more strategy involved. This game combines the two and inproves on both multi-player wise. However, it is important that you know that this is mainly a multiplayer game. The whole single-player experience is based around simulating an on-line environment, but since you're reading this, you probably already take part in the on-line gaming scene. If not, this is arguably the best game to start off on.

One more thing: Everything in QIII: Arena is action-oriented. To be honest, you'll have little time to stand around admiring the incredible graphics. When I play, I rarely release the fire button, and on some levels rarely even touch the ground.

If you liked the matrix, and enjoy multiplayer gaming, buy this. It beats Unreal Tournament hands-down, and it can't be beaten action-wise. In my opinion, this is the best game ever..... and I've only got the demo test!

The Third Sequel In The Trilogy Turns Out To Be The Best!

Not since the Last Crusade in the Indiana Jones Trilogy have I seen a sequel blow away its predecessors. After laughing uncontrollably at the amazing graphics, I realized the new Bots were kicking my butt! I figured I'd better start shooting back! This game makes Half Life and unreal look like child's play. You have to gun a few people down with the railgun to really get the tingly feeling! I'd would suggest however, to abide by the rating and not let young children get their hands on this puppy! For the nation's sake! You will not be disappointed, even playing on a modem. I thought the lack of the single player game would be a problem, but the bots make up for it. When you hear the footsteps coming towards you, you can help but get a chill! One of the best yet!

its fun, but not THAT fun

All in All, I don't see what the big fuss was about. Don't get me wrong, Q3 is a great game, but i think Half-Life beats it hands down with TFC and CS. Q3 IS just a souped up version of Q2, and Quake can get really old after weeks of playing. :P And on a final note, I just couldn't get into Q3 as much as I did Q2 because the levels weren't as real. It was too "cartoonish".

Alright game, but Should have been Better...

Quake 3, the game that millions were waiting for. It took quite a long time, longer then expected, and in the end it didnt end up like some were hoping it to be. The game itself has excellent graphics and is ok in Multiplayer.

I, myself, like stories in games. The other 2 had an actual story line, but in the third addition to this series, it did not. Hence the name, Quake3: Arena. The whole singe player is just arena playing. I may have liked it more if it had some sort of story line.

The multiplayer option is alright, but not as well done as Unreal Tournament. UT has much more advantages. You don't have to listen to me, but I think that Unreal Tournament is a better buy at the moment.

Could have been better

The graphics are okay at times. But even on a 500mhz computer it can run slow. I wouldn't recommend buying this game unless you have at LEAST a 300mhz. There are many levels to choose from. The game can get a little frustrating. It's hard. I'd recommend half life if you like shooting though. But besides slow play it's an alright game.
