Right now, I am not very happy with this purchase. We have been unable to read the cd's to install the game. I have had to reorder the item in hopes the new one will work.

This game is so bad I would have not even given it a star, but 0 STARS is not a choice!!!

I wear so many karats you'll think I'm a ****ing vegetarian.

Only one drawback

The game is just as addicting as the others in the series. With the new characters/creatures/and magic spells it is a fun challenge. However, if you enjoy using cheat codes you will not be able to use them with this version. An email from 3DO stated "the cheat codes were removed from the Complete Edition of the Heroes III game. This was a Development Team decision."

Heroes III: Complete is a pretty good game.
If you are looking for a good game with good, fast graphics
Then this isn't the game for you, but if you are looking for a strategy game with mystical creatures and the sort, I would reccomend this game for you. This game is kinda like Lords Of Magic. Only it isn't as boring.

A great game for beginners

It is great for those new playing computer games. It is a turn-based strategy game(meaning you take a turn then your opponent takes their turns). there is more than enough scenarios to keep you playing this games for two years. Another plus to the game is that it is very simple to play, you can do everything with your mouse. If you like a lot of action and movies in your games, then this is not the game for you. Even without all of the fancy stuff the game is still challenging and entertaining. I recommend this to anyone whose never played a computer game before and has lots of time to waste.

Ah...Good Ol' HOMM 3!

One day, I recalled fond memories of playing Heroes, so I checked out its availability online. Sure enough, there it was, cheap as dirt and readily available. It got here in about a week, and I've wasted countless irretrievable hours of my life since that day. How can I quantify the value of such an experience? Five stars, my friends, five stars. Besides, no one will probably ever read this review...

Stands the test of time

Newer isn't always better, and old does not mean obsolete. HOMM3 has been around for a while and it's still fun, still worth buying. Being able to download user-created scenarios (and upload your own) adds to its longevity. I just wish I didn't have to have the CD in the drive to play it - that's typical of games, and very annoying.

The Old Guards Parade

When a game series that could run 3 times, it must be damn good a formula to run. HOMM3 still has that addictive "one-more-last-turn" till the first light of morning sun comes through your window for the "Old Guards", who prefer the I-go-u-go turn- based gameplay than the mouse-clickers.

In theory, you could play this game until your death because there are hundreds DIY maps (with the in-game editor, which is great by itself) in the Internet available for downloads, apart from the numerous scenarios and campaigns included in the collection. Though more monsters, more town types, more artifacts, more spells and heroes and more everything than the previous HOMMs (1 & 2), still you tend to figure out the most powerful creatures, town types and artifacts eventually which suit your taste.

Replayability of the game is beyond question but it is more questionable if you have time to play a single scenario twice given the wide range of scenarios available and that the AI tends to play the same turn the same way. (If you save and then quit and watch for the AI's movement of the heroes twice, the AI performs the same during their turns.) For large map, you might spend more time waiting for all the opponents finishing their movement than your own if you pass or do little in your turn.

Of noted interest to HOMM3, a new grail structure is available for each turn if you find the lost artifact from the map puzzle. The grail structure can bring special effect (more creatures growth for the town, higher spell power when casting magic inside the castle, stonger defense strength when sieged) to the town where it is built and in general, increases $5000 more cash per week than your opponents.

The fog-of-war is still the best feature in the game (and applies to the game well) 'cos it keeps you wanting to move 1 more turn to see what resources or mines come next when your heroes stride on the foreign soils and you don't know whether there is a powerful enemy awaiting you out there.

HOMM3 is eye-pretty, exciting to play and sometimes like a self-continual training for your true-life: Will you choose to be good or evil, will you earn more money or learn more experience first, will you upgrade yourself by sharpening your skills to face the next difficulties out there or you paint your own life by drafting your own maps, location of the resources and mines and the story (the dialogue box is editable for your-own- designed story-telling plot)...

You can easily find Multiplayer opponent in the Microsoft's zone.com but I always doubt if turn-based type of game is suitable for multiplayer at the net. The bottom line is that you pay three games for the price of one. This is the best bet that you can have before the end of the millennium. And there is nothing more satisfied if you struggle to win in a "historical" map of Germany (downloadable from internet) during the 30-Years-War period.

Fun.. Boring..Fun.. Boring.. Fun.. Boring..

When I first got the game, and played it, I belived it was one of the best magic based strategy RPG game i've ever seen, the graphics and music, plus the sound effects are remarkable. The game play itself is challegning and with tons and tons of magic to experience and choose from. Although I do not use the map editor a lot, but Im sure many others find use of it to improve their gameplay. However, after a couple of weeks, i began to get bored of the game, i actually stoped playing it for like a month because i had no intention to start a long game and end up not finishing it.... then a couple of weeks later, i insert the cd for the hell of it and played it again, and i was hooked again to the graphic, sound, and gameplay, i played the game everyday on and on. but one again, after a couple of weeks, after a brutal loss to the computer.... i stoped playing it, got bored and tired of it. 2 weeks later, guess what? i had a party and played it multiplayer with some friends, and i got hooked again, played it everyday, ever since, but i wont be surprised to hate it a few weeks later. All in all, the game is excellent, there are no doubts that it is one of the best computer games out there, my suggestion is to buy it, play it, and keep it in ur closet for a few weeks and play some other games, then get back into it, and so on and so on... its kinda fun... u wouldnt regret it...
