Fight wolves, orgres, and more to free Narnia!

As I can't wait to see the CoN movie to come out, I immediately got Narnia the computer game when I saw it in the store. In the game, you can play as all four of the children during most of the levels. Each of them has their own special powers and abilities: Peter's strength lies in his sword, as does Edmund's, Susan can shoot arrows and use panpipes to find hidden items, and Lucy heals as well as tames beasts. The children can also team up together to perform special moves. Throughout the game, you unlock new special abilities for them, spending the coins you'll collect during each level.

There are 15 levels in the Narnia computer game. Each level is broken up into different `sections' or Checkpoints, where the game auto saves where you are. You can't actually save your game in the middle- only after you've finished a level- but if you die at any time during that level, you go back to the last checkpoint (as apposed to starting the level all over again).

During your level, you'll gather money to spend, points to unlock abilities, shields and statues, arrows for Susan to shoot, hearts for health. Not only do our heroes fight, but they also have to figure out things like how to get over an icy pond without falling in. Many times they have to work together to kill an especially difficult enemy. There's also some bonus stuff you unlock for each level you complete.

Overall, Narnia was great fun to play. There are two difficulty levels, Normal and Hard. On Normal, the game is not especially difficult, but it also is not easy- a good balance. Narnia has a cool 2-player feature that lets two people play the game at the same time, making it twice the fun. The graphics are really good and there are some nice clips from the movie itself. I feel it was a great buy and recommend it to anyone who is looking forward to the Narnia movie.

The best game I've ever played!

You get to fight all sorts of creatures. All the characters you play, including Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy, can earn these cool special abilities. Peter can pick Susan and Lucy up. Susan can grab Edmund by his hands and swing him around. Susan can grab Lucy by her hand and tow her around. Edmund can also do this. The coolest ability besides healing people is, Peter and Edmund can stick their sticks or swords in the ground and create a line of fire that kills everything in their path. You also can earn moves where you can kill things in one strike. Susan can play Mr. Tumnus' panpipes. Overall, this game is worth the money.

Do you like to books about knights, animal's, creatures and wars then the Chronicle of Narnia: The Loin, The Witch, and the Wardrobe is for you

The story starts with four children, Peter, Edmund, Susie, and Lucy, had to live with the professor, because they where in they were threaten by the air raids. When they got certain rules. Edmund was making fun of Lucy; she got mad and tried to hide from them, so she went to the professor's wardrobe. When she was in there Lucy was lost and came out the other end. Then Lucy found her self in a winter place, where she met a new friend Mr.Tumnus. He brought her home and gave her tea to drink since she was cold. She talk to him and told him stuff bout her family. Mr.Tumnus felt guilty for something. He told her too leave before he betrayed her.

When Lucy got back home she told everyone bout Narnia and how she met Mr.Tumnus but Peter, Susie, and Edmund thought Lucy was crazy. Edmund went into the wardrobe and went into Narnia and met the White Witch. Edmund told the Witch about how her sister, Lucy met Mr.tumnus. The Witch she was the queen of Narnia and said she'll give him anything he wants if he brings Peter, Lucy, and Susie to her in her castle. Edmund convinced Peter and Susie to go in the Wardrobe. When they went in they found Mr.Tumnus house violated. The Witch took him away; there they met the beavers who showed them the true king of Narnia Aslan the lion. They children met Aslan and Edmund left to the witch and betrayed Aslan to save Edmund, Aslan had to be sacrifice. Peter was the leader of the army against the forces of the Witch. Aslan came back to life and ripped the Witches face off.

In the end Aslan knighted them the Kings and Queens of Narnai and Mr.Tumnus was safe after Lucy saved him. Few years later the came back to the street light falling out of the Wardrobe young again telling the professor the journey.

I think that the book was good i would have to give it a four, it kept making me what happen in the next chapter like when Aslan died. The story had good concept, like how they showed both sides like the writer talk about Edmund was capture.. There's nothing about that I will change about the book. I would recommend this book to people 8-15 or people who love fairy tales.

My boys, my husband included, have really enjoyed this. The 5-yr old has to play with help, but the 9 yr old can play independantly. Usually, the minute it comes on, they ALL crowd around the computer. They got to a higher level, last night...it had been particularly problematic to solve and when they managed to do so, it was as if they really were in Narnia! LOL

Decent, but.

Alright, it's time to silence the whiners and new people to the tech in here. You DO NOT need a new videocard to play the game. Heck, i can probably run it on my laptop's IGP. If you can't run it on many new PCs, then you're doing something wrong. You probably need new drivers, or to install direct-x or something simple like that. As to all this rabble about a "special videocard", what did you guys expect from buying the $99 special at your local store or dell's latest "count your change" machine.

As to the actual gameplay itself, i found it playable for a bit, and missions such as the london house were intended to teach you the basics of attacks, targetting and movement. Things such as the beavers dam were intended to pad out the game. Do you really think it would have been fun if you just walked through narnia for a few hours, talked to the witch, lah-de-dah, whacked her and finished up? I thought not. My only gripe to this title is that the AI seems to be useless. They just stand there, they don't fight. Graphcially, the title isn't too bad, it's better than San Andreas, i'll tell you that now. If it looks horrible to you, try boosting the game above 640x480 before complaining.

Audibly, we can easily find this game's best aspect. The range of music from the movie is superb, the voice acting from the actual actors is great and combat sounds proper and perfect.

In the end, you can do worse with a game - just buy Fantastic 4 and you'll know what i mean. But if you're going to complain that you can't run the game, try and figure out what you're doing wrong first before blaming it, and secondly, smack yourself next time you buy the cheapest possible computer components and expect God (or whichever figure you choose to, or not to worship) to come down and make it run everything like a $25 Million super computer. Or here's a better tip - if you had a PS2 or XBOX or Gamecube, why are you buying it for PC to play on your 14" el-cheapo LCD when you probably have at least 30" to use in the living room? Rent it, and if you like it THEN buy it. Now was that so hard?

This might be a good game. It was given as a gift for our young son, but then we noticed it is now rated TEEN (for "fantasy violence"). It was not rated when we put it on our wishlist.

Just fyi for other parents out there.

Can Narnia Really Run?

Many PC games, today, are adapted from console games instead of being built from the ground up with a computer engine.

Many PC games, especially now, won't run because of security programs (anti-copying devices) conflicting with the PC owners drivers. Basically what that means is that the game may or may not run depending on whether or not the anti-copy program accounts for your driver, expensive or cheap.

UBI-Soft has a disclaimer on many of their games, including their 10th Anniversary Myst edition, claiming (in fine print found with a magnifying glass) that the game may not run because of the installed security program and driver conflicts.

EA games had to post a work around to their security program for many of their games, last November 2005. EA's anticopying security program basically shut sown the game if a burner program was detected on the hard drive.

There are many people who are having serious trouble with the Narnia game. It is NOT their fault. It is NOT because they are whining. It is NOT because they are doing something wrong, or their computer didn't meet the requirements.

It is because game companies would prefer not to mess with PC CD-ROMS because they can be copied. Game companies are slowly whittling down their PC divisions with the ultimate goal of closing them to concentrate on console games (such as Interplay did with Black Isle Studios on December 19 2005). They are not hiding it. Game companies don't like making PC Games.

Narnia is another "adapted" game. It is not built for PC's. The GOF Potter game is another "adapted" game, and another fiasco.

I believe that PC games are a wonderful, fun way for kids to learn about computers. I don't like what is going on with the game companies, but what I like less is the PC community at large blaming parents... instead of being outraged at what the game manufacturers are getting away with.

When you buy a legal game, and bring it home to play on your legal computer, and it won't play because of a legal CD burner (probably installed by the PC manufacturer) that to me is illegal.

Its so much easier to blame the parents.

The Narnia game is a beautiful game, especially when it plays.

Icksnay on the PC version. The PS2 version is the way to go, but XBOX and GameCube versions will also nicely do...and they will play. Parents won't then be blamed for a situation out of their control.

too hard to move around

I find the graphics and the game to both be excellent and enjoyable. The problem I have is with movement. I wish they would've made the game a one player game and incorporate the mouse into the movement better. It is just far too hard to move around and do things.

Normally PC is my way to go for games; I prefer PC over all other formats. But this time around, I've got to recommend that you go for either the Xbox, PS2 or Gamecube versions instead.

Looks like the White Witch won this time.

The book was great. The movie was great. But the day the game was made was the day Narnia died...
In Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe, you can usually play as any one of the Pevensie children. However, when in combat, if you're being attacked by monsters, do your siblings rush to your aid? No, they just stand there and watch you die.[Not very nice are they?] And another thing, your enemies always attack you. Just you! And they ignore everyone else. They just focus on you like homing missiles, bent on murdering you.
And the combat system is awful. Basically all you do is press the attack button[H] over and over again, hoping to kill your enemies before they kill you. And you can barely block. Only Peter and Edmund can block and all that is, is them raising their arms for a half second. So basically, you have to repeatedly press block for it to work at all.
Long story short, if you're a fan of games where all you do is run around desperately trying to kill monsters, this game is for you. But if you like good games where you kill countless enemies, get Jedi Academy.

buy this if you're mad at your money

Our kids were very excited to receive this game on Christmas only to be disappointed that it needed a special video card. We had to spend over $100 to make this game work. The extra money is not worth owning the game.
