Meh...very simple game other games are better..

Meh. Thats what I thought of this game after playing it for about a week.

If you like in-depth mmorpgs, lots of crafting/tradeskills and things of that nature, this game isn't for you. Basically its a LOT like City of Heroes. You fight, and fight and fight and fight...and thats about it. Oh wait, you also can participate in critical missions sponsored by the server when you get to a high level, but you'll be doing nothing but street fighting and missions like you do in city of heroes.

The combat system is good, not AWESOME, but cool. I prefer wow's combat system with hotkeys for your spells/abilities, but whatever. This is a different combat system and much cooler than the old pick a spell and watch it happen style that EQ and a lot of others have. Basically its a super-advanced version of rock/paper/scissors, but not as dull as rock paper scissors :).

The absolute best thing about this game is the fighting animations. They simply rock. When you get off a martial arts special move and smack the mob around like a rag doll, you get all giddy inside :). Unfortunately, thats all you do in this game - fight.

The lag...oh god. Other than the mind-numbingly boring kill the same guys over and over, you'll pick an ability to use, wait like 5 minutes mashing the key while your character does nothing, and then when the lag bomb goes away, you're dead. I mean this happens in just about every online game at one point or another (even world of warcraft), but not as often as this game does. I have a pretty high-end machine and cable internet and it still lags.

Personally, I would not suggest this for anyone. There are MUCH better games out there. I just feel bad for die-hard fans of the matrix that went out and got this and realized they wasted their money.

If you want a really good online game, I suggest World of Warcraft. I wrote a pretty decent review about it. Another really fun yet simple one (if all you want to do is fight and play every once in a while) - is City of Heroes. I mean City of Heroes is a lot like this game, just fighting and fighting, but I keep finding myself going back for the cool super powers over and over :) I played FFXI too long, and it just took too long to get stuff done - so I don't suggest getting that.

Bottom-line, don't get this game, there are so many other good games out there and this one just doesn't cut the mustard. Main reason being the lag and the bugs, second reason being the mind-numbingly boring system of kill, get xp, kill again, repeat till max level.

Matrix Online is awesome!

I've been playing The Matrix Online since it launched a week ago and this is the most fun I've ever had playing a video game. Every other MMO pales in comparison. The highlights include: (1) awesome looking combat animations; (2) a Live Events Team that makes the world feel alive; (3) cool character customizations; and (4) great graphics that make you feel like you are really in the Matrix.

I highly recommened this game.

I played in the Matrix online public Beta when it was first in the release stages. I really liked the game and how it was set up. I still enjoy playing the game, it definatly takes work to level. I would recommend this game to anyone who followed the Matrix Trilogy.

the matrix online sucks!

Well I've been playing this game all night trying to make the most of it. Give it somewhat of a chance. From what I see this game could be pretty good but its far from complete. The game lags WAAAAAAY too much. I have all the lowest settings on and it's nothing but lag. The server doesnt seem crowded at all... yet when you go near a small crowd you will start to feel the pull. Lag is definitely one of the main concerns with me because you almost cant get anything done. Anytime I log into "The Matrix" it has that green number line crap all over the place. This doesnt go away for about 2 minutes. During this time I can't even move. I have to wait till its completely gone and normal color. On top of that whenever I die I have a black screen for about 2 minutes then the green for another 2 minutes. Whenever you zone the load takes at least another 2 - 3 minutes. Its just rediculous! The things I like about the game come down to the combat and the fact that its not a typical mmorpg. The combat system seems pretty cool but couldve been made a lot better. Honestly save your money and get something else. This game might get better in the future, but right now it sucks. This might not bother some people but in order to cancel your subscription you have to call them. Now this might not seem like a big deal... but think about how long you'll be on hold. Believe me when I say that free mmorpgs work and look better than this game. Take it from someone who took a risk and got burned... save your money!

- My first impressions

Ok let me first say that I've been playing FFXI for about a year now. I started getting sick of it and decided I wanted to try something new. I checked out the user ratings for this game and noticed a lot of people hating and loving the game. I just wanted something different from the warriors, mages, rangers, etc. I decided to take a risk and buy it even though I had a feeling it might suck. Damnit! This game is the worst game I ever played!!!! I'm not going to sit here and lie saying I've played it for a long time. I didn't... the game was waaaay too laggy. I could barely move. The map system is horrible, put a damn grid on that! I'll admit I havent REALLY played the game yet but it wouldnt give me a chance to. I fought one guy, tried to do a mission... but the lag just wouldnt let me move. The setup also constantly had errors. It was nothing major but it was still some BS you had to put up with. I wasnt expecting much from this game but thought I might be able to have some sort of fun for a month or two if anything. WRONG! If you want a game where you have to struggle to walk a straight line, screens freeze when you try to buy something off NPCs, really BAD graphics, and something that takes up waaay too many resources... then please buy this game. Seriously... my computer SHOULD be able to handle this game easily (and yes I know the min requirments). Since I have a month free I'll try it out a little more (if I can). If my opinions change I will definitely let you know. As of right now I'm very unhappy with this product and recommend people not to buy it.

I played MxO beta for about 2 weeks. It was laggy at times(despite my dsl), but that was contributed to their server problems. It was confusing at times, but then I realized there were instructions on the internet that a lot of people are too stupid to use. Altogether though, it was freaking awesome! I would not really say their was anything about this game I fully disliked unless I was impatient or quite frankly pessimistic.

No Mac version - this sucks

I can't believe that the developers would make this a PC-only game!!! I think that really sucks. Shame on you Warner Bros.

The people in warner bros, destroyed the story of the matrix completely.

The gameplay sucks. You have little control on your character when you fight.

The instances are all the same, and they are all in buildings that have the same architecture. Is not worted paying 49 dollars for this game, i reccomend you spent them and WOW

the next path of fighting

This game is fun, entertaining, and... customizable as heck. You can basically make your character look however on this green earth you want them to look. If you want a leather wearing cowboy by all means make one. Not to mention you get to enjoy the hyper jumping from the movie and other fun abilities. You can use bullet time on missions which makes for a good time. The game does however get boring after a few months even though it did have its own underground radio station for a while which addes to the fun of raves and what not.

Dead. Boring.

This game has good possibilities, but it is ruined by the lack of people on the two servers this game has. Everytime I logged in, all I saw was little to no one on. If people had been on, they were away from keyboard status or link dead. The actual system of the game is kinda cool, how you create your character, by selecting the powers and path you want to follow, but after the first few steps, it becomes confusing and you dont know where to go.... Pass on this one. If it becomes free, then pick it up.
