Disappointed!

We have been playing Tak 2 and have been very disappointed in the product. The game play is slow and not that fun. We like the Nickelodian games in general, Sponge Bob, but this one not so much. You might want to rent before you buy.

No thank you

Not very good, not very fun, very slow. Much better products out there. My biggest complaint is the game has gotten any better since the first one. I rented it and am glad that I did.

Buggy and frustrating

I tried to post this review once so if it comes up twice I will delete one, I was booted off the system.

We have been playing Tak 2 and own the game. Our impression of the game is it is very average. Me and my son have been playing the game together for about an hour a day for the past week. I believe we are fairly deep into the game. The best part of this game by far is not the game play it is the cut scenes. They were done really well and are funny and entertaining. The game does have all the formentioned issues of camera problems, lack of instruction, it is a fairly slow and tedious game to get through and there are parts where kids will get very frustrated because of not know where to go or what to do next. With that said we still wanted to play through the game to see the cut scenes and we are $39 invested into the game.

Here is where the frustration started, we got to a part in the game where there are two spinning wheels in the air and there are sheep inside the wheels. The user needs to throw "Jobly?" across to the sheep which causes him to run and a platform to raise. Then you throw Jobly? over again to the other wheel and another playform raises you can jump across both and reach a rope bridge. My son through Jobly and hit the sheep but was not standing on the raising platform. When he did the platform did not drop, there was no way to reach it no way to continue playing the game. We ran around, we tried killing our character, we tried throwing Jobly across at the different sheep, we tried backtracking we could not get the platform to drop. So ultimately we decided to reset our machine and hope that we would be back into the level with everything reset. When we did this, we received a memory card message that our data was not valid and there was no recognizable save on the card. So our dilema, do we replay 4 hours of a game we are not having much fun with or do we put it down? We unanimously decided to put the game down. I cannot believe that this bug was not caught, I am not sure who to be upset with THQ, Sony or Nickelodian but as a parent this is completely unacceptable. Thanks for the $39 worth of frustration and 4 hours of completely wasted time for both me and my son. I will not buy another game from this company and certainly do not recommend this one to anyone.

Frustrating game

Well we thought this would be a nice game for our kids, not gory violence, lots of fun, etc. My kids played it a few times than asked me to play because they were stuck. I got a little further, but then got to a place that is just too agravating. I would agree that the clips are funny, to a point, and I would completely agree that the controls are far too difficult and it is too easy to get stuck without any help to get out. Stay away from this game. A waste of money.

Not such a great game

I don't know if everyone posting here has actually played this game or not, we have the game and have actually played it and I can honestly say there is no way this game can be considered a 5 star game. The first game is actually better than this one. This game suffers from a lot of "glitchyness" and abstract, confusing and frustrating game design. The framerate of the game is really bad, there is tons of slow down and glitchyness. There are times where it effects the control of your character. The camera will make you sick if you are a person who tends to get to get dizzy while playing some games, both me and my son felt this and I tend not to have this problem in other games. Also there are just elements that defy common sense and logic in the game that make it go from a light fun game to frustrating and annoying. For example, if you are familiar with the game you follow feathers to get to objectives, well they designed the game so that by following the feathers you will often end up dying because it leads you to a pit or some other danger. There is a barrel sequence where you float down a river that is boarderline unplayable because of this. Also there are times where you have to do some completely abstract action in order to procede, you have no idea what to do so you just end up running around doing nothing in very small areas, for example there are bears that throughout the entire game you jump on to get to higher areas, in one sequence you had to jump up and down on the exact same bear 3X and if you did not nothing would happen, how as a player would you know to do this? In essence it is just very poorly designed for kids. On top of that the environments all sort of look the same when you are running around and the bad camera mentioned above does nothing to help you so you feel lost and confused through much of this game. I don't know who they made this game for but my son quickly became frustrated and bored. There are much better choices out there for E rated game this one was far below expectations especially after the good effort of the first game. If your kids are fans of the first game as my son was you might want to rent or do some research on the internet the ame is not scoring that well.

I will settle this

This game stinks! The dream sequences are terrible in particular.

I have this game on a demo disc and it's pretty cool, for the first five minutes! Although my mom likes it, this game lacks direction and the controls are too complicated! Plus, it's not my kind of game and I was going too buy it. I definitly recomend to rent it first.

Fair not great

Our family owns the first Tak and while I don't think this game is bad, it just seems a bit too similar to the first game and still has many of the same problems. The collect-fest of the game is still as annoying as it was in the first game also the camera works very poorly. The characters and graphics look better, the worlds are larger and there are some decent puzzle aspects - but it just still feels a bit slow and monotnous.

Demo pretty weak

Played the first one and thought it was okay. I recently played the demo that was packed in with OPM magazine. It was pretty dismal. The game play is slow, the camera is nausiating and overall the game is just slow and no fun. I think I liked the first one better than this one.

please, don't rescue failed development....

...obviously this game nearly never was.

brilliant graphics, cool story, humorous dialog (especially if your a fan of this kind a thing e.g jak...) its just a pity its so rubbish:
you've defeated loads of woodies and now face their boss. a hint tells you to wait until his weapon is stuck in the ground and attack him from behind. this you do, and in defeating him you succeed. but wait, nothing else happens, no new enemies, no cut scene. have you missed something? no. the game has failed to realise your success and continues to inform you of a hint about how to succeed in what you've already accomplished. the only way forward is to jump of a ledge at start the scene again, win and hope this hack of a title lets you continue. that's how this game runs. obviously the original developers had hoped for more, but who ever took over obviously couldn't give a ?#*!.

whats more i don't think its age rating gives much indication. this is scary for a 3++++ child: scary dream monsters and a battle against them (that cant be won - even by the accompanying adult helping them)
one to be missed!!!
