If you are looking for the most realistic combat simulator this one is close. The flight behavior is what you have come to expect form Microsoft. The missions are good but the timesaver button makes it a little to easy. If you like flight sims with some action this one is good for a few hours of your time.

Best of it's kind!

This is the best combat flight simulator produced. You can see other aircraft up close, unlike some others that you are shooting at tiny little fighter planes. This is as real as it gets and not like arcade games as most others are.

this game is very hard. it only has guns, no bombs and the plain is hard to control i recomend u dont get this combat game because it is hard to stear and doesnt stear fast to get out of trouble of other plains. DONT GET IT.

Agreat game! The game features a good realism factor, goodgraphics although it is belittled by the CFS 2 screenshots , and some great missions, BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT is the ability to use millions of planes off of the web plus import FS 98 a/c directly into the game. Great your thinking, but the area that it falls short is the campaigns, the only good one from an emersion point of view is the Battle of britain from the luftwaffe point, but the best one for fun is the Bttl of europe from the luftwaffe, This problem is remidied by the fact that there hundreds of better ones on the internet, plus some of the planes on the web are better too.

Every thing about the game is great, just fly the single mission "clobber college" against ace pilots Just over a hundred planes allied and axis of all sorts wheeling about the skies.Ahhh i love the smell of burning messerschmitt in the morning!

One other problem is that in most of the missions though it is just you and your wingman, possibly up to eight in the campaigns.

First of all the game graphics are sharp and fast. The flight physics are on the ball. When you are looking around in your cockpit this where the game shines.

Shooting a plane is very rewarding with debre falling off(and yes you can in fact shoot wings off planes) and smoke.
Unloading on a plane and then pausing to move the camera all around is worth way more then 5 stars.
Unfortunately the campaign brings it down for imersive play and lasting interest.

This quote from reviewer Filmfanman sums it up perfectly:

"The campaign modes are the least interseting aspect of the game and leave a lot to be desired. I want a sense of "being there" from my sims, outside of combat. I want detailed debriefings after a mission. I want to feel a sense of camaraderie with my fellow virtual pilots. I want to know who made it back and who didn't. I want to see how many kills my squad mates got so I have a benchmark with which to compete. I don't care if the missions are scripted or dynamic so long as they have that feel that really immerses you in a campaign. The campaigns here fall flat"

But the game is good for a few hours here and there. And I would encourage you to fly the ones that are not terribly long to get the most out of the simulation aspect. Otherwise like what someone else said. It will get boring quick.

All in all a very solid game where the campaigns brings it down 2 stars. Sad.

A great game to play on-line as long as you have a joystick. There are tons of downloads & squadrons to fly with on the internet. Two thumbs up!

It's very entertaining. The missions are pretty cool. This is a huge game. The online component makes it a blast!

When I bought this game, I thought that the graphics would be horrible because I don't have a video card. However, they were better than in any other game I have! Flying planes is extremely fun but very complicated. The manual is easy to understand. The sound is awesome. I tried to fly using the keyboard, but it turned out nearly impossible since you don't feel how much you push or pull at the stick. But with joystick, it's an awesome experience. Try it!

Hi, Im a 12 year old flight sim freak:) A very good game, although the graphics could be better...(its good for an 1998 game though). The flight engine is also very good, and you can set the realsim to however much you want. One warning though, it only supports one controller. This means that if you don't have a CH Products or Thrustmaster HOTAS(Hands On Throttle And Stick), you can only have one joystick(unless your someknid of a electronics/software genius and tweak with the whole program). However, if you want an even better game, I would recommend Combat Flight Simulator 2.

IS SO EASY TO LEARN AND IS VERY COMPLETE, YOU CAN FELL THE EXPERIENCE OF FLIGHT, I LOVE THIS GAME, I'M THINK THATS THIS GAME IN THE FUTURE WILL BE A CLASSIC OF THE SIMULATORS GAMES, I'M SHURE OF THAT. THE GRAPHICS ARE SO BASIC BUT ITS NORMAL IF YOU THINK THAT THIS GAME IS THE BEGINNING OF THIS CLASS OF GAMES AND THE QUALITY IS VERY IMPORTANT, YOU CAN SEE ALL THE PLANES OF THE GAME WHITH RICH DETAILS AND I'M LIKE IT.
