This is a really hard to fly simulator. If you want to turn left or right, it turns the plane upside down and you crash. Also, a Pentium III or later is required for best control (I have a Pentium III at 866mHZ, 128MB RAM, and a 32MB video card, and it still takes time to load views from the tower, etc.). Also, this is a real memory hogger. It just took up 520 MB of my memory (1420 MB is needed for a Complete installation).

I would definitely recommend a flight yoke or joystick. It makes every plane easier to fly. If you don't know how to fly, you have to read the Pilot's Handbook (over 200 pages long) and take lessons (really takes up a lot of your time). In my opinion, the Cessna 182S is easiest to fly, since it takes off and flies by itself without me doing anything including turning on Autopilot.

Overall, this is a good simulator (better than the old ones) and that's why I rate it 3 stars.

It doesn't get much better than this! But be sure you have an up to date system, I would say the minimum setup would be a Pentium 3 w/ 128 MB RAM and a graphics accelerator. To speed up loading and install you should also probably have 7200 RPM hard drive or higher. Even though it puts a lot of demand on your system, overall it is great.

Wonderful!

I have an ASUS Motherboard and a Diamond Stealth video driver with a 3D accelerator, and it runs GREAT! I have a 15" Monitor with the screen res set to 800x600, with fullscreen mode set to 640x480. I am getting framerates no different from 98 (9 to 15 fps). A Pentium III Really helps; a firend of mine has a PIII, ASUS board, and a 32MB Video card. He gets framerates in the mid-40s. It does help, although my framerates aren't at all unflyable. If you stay out of the daredevil stuff, I would consider 3 fps unflyable. Actually, when I am in non-fullscreen mode, I get framereates ranging from 1.5 to 5 fps.

FS2000 Pro is a great simulator for the PC. I bought it about a month ago and I have been hooked ever since. But, there are still some things Microsoft has left, either for the next version or just abandoned. Like the scenery of most "small" cities is not so good. Theres just a tower which is same for most cities and there are hardly any buildings and houses. After a series of buildings in Chicago or NY, there are the plain lands without smaller buildings. I have boosted the RAM of my PII 350 to 128 megs from 64, but apparently, not much difference. Apart from the scenery, there are other shortcomigs too. Such as the crashes. They're not real. It seems as if a piece of glass is breaking, no sounds, no fire, nothing. There's no smoke puffing on the runway. The sounds inside the cockpit are ridiculous and it seems as if the plane is sliding down the runway without landing gear! The models of the aircraft might be accurate but there's still some attention required to be given to the fuselage. The real-world weather option should have customized networking settings for firewall users like me. MS should give more aircraft and patches on the web site to download and not leave them for the next version. I wonder what's left for this "best" labelled flight sim in the next version. FS 2000/Pro may be a great simulator but MS has neglected many countries like India, some south-east countries, and places like Kathmundu which could have had an excellent scenery close to the Himalayas. Another major thing that is lacking in FS2000 is that for newbies, who don't know how to go to a particular place and not an airport, there should be a country map or listing of all well-known places and the airports close to them. All these features, if included, can make FS 2000 a better sim. But, users or prospective buyers of FS2000/Pro should not care about all this, because its only for the die hard simulator enthusiasts and pilots who're deeply interested in this sim. Overall, on a 10 point scale rating, I'd rate this sim as 8/10. Have fun!

This is the best of the genre. each time I boot this up, I learn something new. FS 2000 is very immersive, and I can actually recognize ground features in my area! The variety of craft is excellent, though Im yet to get that Concorde off the tarmac without augering in. The downside is that it is very resource intensive.

A PRODUCT OF A PARASITIC COMPANY

Inherent to mainstream parasitic businesses/companies (e.g., Microsoft) is the greed for super-profits. They usually over-hype their products through parasitic individuals and advertisers. And this product is one of the examples of that greed, FLAWED!

This game is worth it. This game has spectacular graphics and easy controls. To make this game even better, you need to purchase the Force Feedback Joystick by Microsoft. With this Joystick, you are able to feel like you are flying the plane even better.

It by far the best flight simulator ever but it came out too early. It's too good for the computers we have now.
