Great horse game!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 0 / 0

I got this game yesterday and I've been playing it non-stop! It is a blast!

First off, you get to completely design you and your horse. From your hair color & tone all the way down to your horses leg and face markings.
You practice and compete in Cross Country, Dressage, and Show Jumping at 2 Star, 3 Star, and 4 Star level.
Lucinda Green is there for you the whole time, instructing you, giving you tips and reminders, as well as congradulating you on your accomplishments! She only lets you move on when she is sure that you know exactly what you're doing.

You also get to take care of your horse in the pasture by feeding, watering, brushing, washing, and giving treats to it.
You start out with one horse, but as you rise in the ranks, you can have up to 6 different horses at a time.

The only thing that is a bit different about it is that you don't use the mouse or arrow keys to 'ride'. You use the W,A,D, and S keys to speed up, slow down, and steer. Except in dressage, then you use the arrow keys.

This game is SO much fun, I would reccomend it to anyone! It seems a bit confusing at first but after your first time around a course you feel completely at home.
Lucinda explains everything to you, as well as the manual, so there is no confusion.

Oh yes, and the grafics and SOOO beautiful!! Everything looks 100% real!

This is the best horse game I have ever played and i only got it yesterday! Wow! That says alot!

Fun!

This cd is great! It is not much fun to play with if you are not very good with the keys. Also, when moving the horse, to go left and right and up and down, you can't use arrow keys. The dressage is so fun to watch. The higher the level, the harder it gets. The high jumps are so much fun! You get to pick your outfit, horse color and height(which is rare in most horse games). You also go through training, which is very fun. You get to care for your horse too.
This cd is very fun.

Awesome!!

I love this game. It's challenging -- the name says it all. But the graphics are great and there is a lot to do. My friends and I have been playing it almost non-stop since I got it yesterday. We have done dressage, cross country and show jumping. The cross country is the hardest of the three.

It is just totally awesome!

A very realistic, fun game

Equestrain challenge is a great game. You ride in 2-star, 3-star, and 4-star events that get progressivly harder. The events are just right, not so hard it takes you forever to get through them, but not so easy that you're done with them in a few days. Though a large part of the game is riding, you also take care of your horse by feeding, watering, brushing and making your horse happy. As you win different events you unlock things that make the care of your horse easier. A problem with the game is that when unlock more horses as you progress though the game they don't have devolpment-points which you get as you go on to harder levels. Once you finish events you earn developement-points that make your horse perform better. Without these points you can not win the harder events. When you get new horses they don't have these points...so you can't compete in the harder events with them. I don't mind this to much, but
it would be more fun if you had a lot of horses to ride in the harder events. That is why I gave it four stars for the overall rating.
Even with the problem, the game is still very fun and I reccomend you get it.

Best horse game ever!!!!

I bought this game a few days ago, and I must say, it is the best I've played so far... The graphics are very real, the events are challenging but exciting, and the senery that you ride in is just beautiful! Also, it's very easy to understand ( no puzzling moments), and you have a "trainer" guiding you through the whole game... It's great! I highly recommend it to anyone!

P.S. If your looking for a great western horse game, try " Let's Ride!; Silver Buckle Stables"... my second favorite :)

BE WARNED - Little or no support available

BUYER BEWARE!

I bought this title for my soon-to-be 10 year old daughter (who has several of the "Let's Ride" games as well as a few other of the available 3D horse riding games. They all have similar features, some just do it better than others.

While this game looks polished and runs smoothly, I was extremely upset to find that there were NO INSTRUCTIONS in the box. I bought it here from Amazon, and it was in a shrink-wrapped box, but there were only setup instructions which included information that to get the full manual, go to the maker's website. But while the website was correct, the page where the manual supposedly was downloadable wasn't there (page not found error in browser). I browsed the entire website - which is 100% marketing - little or no support. Nothing.

What makes this such a big deal is that there are icons on the screen while practicing/competing that represent your horse's stamina, hapiness, whatever (who knows since they aren't labeled w/text?) but because of the lack of instructions, it's impossible to complete an event w/out your horse tiring out and failing.

This game would be great if the manufacturer (and/or distributor) supported it properly. But like most of the horse game genre, there's little or no support available. Right now it collects dust while my daughter plays scratched up older titles. Every time she tries to play, it just frustrates her to the point she now says, "I hate this game!" As such, I can't give it more than a one, no matter how "pretty" it looks.

*** UPDATE 5/29/2008 ***

I emailed the publisher asking how to get instructions (got the email from the website listed on the installation instructions) and received no response. This game is still practically unplayable and I stand firmly behind my original one star rating. Too bad, I would have much preferred to have removed it.

This game is a very realist game. The graphics are good and the horeses look real. I liked the way Lucinda helps you to progress through the game and would not let you move up until you are ready. I enjoyed it very much.

This game is so much fun it's my favorite computer game ever! The graphics are great and so is the sound. You can show your horse in Dressage, Cross Country, and Show Jumping. Be sure you have a DVD-ROM in your computer to play this game!
Overall this is the best game ever!
