Tame and ride a wild horse

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 22 / 23

My 11-year-old daughter couldn't wait to get this game, and plays it as much as she is allowed. For a true fan of the movie, this is a fine game. Her only complaints about it are that you have to complete whole segments of the game before you're allowed to "Save" -- and when you do save your game, you're assigned a password to use to restart your game where you left off, and it can be hard to remember the password -- or where you put the paper you wrote the password on.

At the start of the game there's a thunderstorm that scatters the herd -- you choose which of two Native American characters to represent you in the game, and then you go about taming the horses by gaining their trust (feed, water, groom and even sing to them); soon you'll be able to ride them and proceed to round them up while avoiding unfriendly animals -- or getting help from friendly animals -- all the while keeping away from rustlers and the like.

The little booklet that comes with the game gives enough basic information to get started, but my 8-year-old was frustrated by the lack of on-screen information giving him hints of what to do. Nonetheless, now that he's watched his sister play for a while, he's decided to start saving up to buy his own copy of the game.

I got this game today along with a platnim game boy advance. This game is one of the greatest games I ever played. I like horses a lot so I like how you get to find a horse and tame it. It's also great how the horse has a mind of its own. When you get to Spirit, you have to move fast around everything and that is alot of fun.

spirit is graet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved the Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron movie so I decided to try out the game. It has nothing to do with the movie except for the fact that three of the characters in the movie are in the game (Spirit, Rain, and Little Creek.) It all starts out where a thunderstorm separates the herd and Spirit is captured. Then, you have to travel around taming the wild horses (by feeding them their favorite foods, giving them water, petting them, even singing to them!) after that, you have to ride that horse back to his/her homeland while avoiding unfriendly animals and helping the friendly ones. After you've returned the horse to his/her homeland, you are aloud to save the game, but it gives you a rediculously long password like dFgrrdN NtbCvzr. Once all the horses have been returned to their homeland, you have to go to the cattle ranch and save Spirit. Here are all the horses (besides Spirit) and how easy/hard it is to tame them.
#1 - Rain
Taming Level: Easy
Homeland: Forest
#2 - Shadow
Taming Level: Average
Homeland: Prarie
#3 - Buttercup
Taming Level: Difficult
Homeland: Canyon
#4 - Dream
Taming Level: Very Difficult
Homeland: Desert

so confusing

I don't not normally write bad reviews, But this game is just so confusing. When you tame your horse in the second level the bar goes down fast that says you had tamed it and its almost impossible to get back up. Also in the second level you don't know where to go or what to do next and the booklet to help you doesn't tell you anything.

Pretty average...

I am a GREAT fan of the movie, so I got this game ASAP. And... it was actually quite disappointing. Set (probably) after the movie, a thunderstorm has seperated spirit's herd, and spirit himself has been captured by wranglers. To free him you have to return four of his friends to the homeland by first taming them and then going thru four different stages (pararie, desert, canyon, forest). You then get to go into the fort where spirit is being held and free him in a 'minigame' reminicent of the movie.

My problem is not with the game itself (it is quite entertaining and VERY passive, with little violence, except when you get 'attacked' by animals such as cougars), but with the difficulty... it is far too easy! I clocked the game in TWO HOURS... maybe less! There are only four horses to tame... there should be a lot more, and maybe more options and minigames. And also, the graphics aren't that great for GBA (look kind of like gbc ones), and the sound and controls get horribly irritating.

Still, if you're a fan of the movie and don't mind buying a game which you can finish real fast, get this game: it is VERY engrossing and you get a sense of achievement after finishing it.

I thought it was wrather boring it was a easy to beat and had no point! It takes maybe an hour to beat but probably less. It's easy to loose intreast in it. It's porley done. You feed the horse its favorite food and ride through boring levels and collect things for other animals so you can get past them. Personly it stunk!!!!!!!!!

do not buy this game!!!!!!!

I was tricked into thinking this game would be as good as the movie was. It's really stupid, with HORRIBLE graphics. You can beat it in less than 1 hour. Don't beleive the good reveiws! Not buying this game will save your time and money!!!!!

This is a favorite game of mine. Every level gets more challenging and it helps you understand more about horses than you knew before. Even though I like the movie better than the game, it is still fun to play.
