Goku's Review

This game is really cool if you are a TRUE fan of DBZ thick and thin. In the game, you play as Goku, the legendary super-saiyan. (Ok i just said that to make it sound proffessional, lol) Your son Gohan is kidnapped by your brother Raditz at the beginning of the fame and you have to go and rescue him. You start at level 1 (your power level/ fighting skill)The training part gets boring after a while but you'll need to be strong to defeat Raditz. In the end, you'll have to take on Freiza. This game offers three special moves (as far as i know) that are Ki Blast, Solar Flare, and Kamehameha wave. If you love DBZ, I strongly recommend this game.

accurately like the show

I love Dragon Ball Z. I love the show (I own all 291 episodes.) I love the manga. I love the other games. I hate Legacy of Goku. It is the worst DBZ game ever, if not the worst game ever. The gameplay was awfull, the combat and energy system, not to mention the flight system, were terrible. Although many people say that it followed the anime well, it didn't. Only the basic plot was followed, the rest was made up for the game. Also, as I'm sure you've heard, I hate how dogs and bank robbers can kill you at the beginning of the game. Fortunately, it wasn't all flaws. The graphics were actually pretty good, and the game had the feel of the show. Also, it led to the release of more(and better) American games. So, I would only recommend this game for die-hard fans, just if you want to say you have every DBZ game. Otherwise, you may want to avoid this one at all cost.

This game is as good as punching your self.

If you like DragonBall Z the show, and you bought this game, you would know exactly why i think this. EVERY single thing in it is off course to the show. The very first things you fight are wolves, but for some reason, they made it so the wolves can kill you in 2-3 shots when you have to punch them 50 times to kill one. Also, when you fight Radits, piccolo says "lets do this already" he dosen't do one thing to help you. He just sits there watching.
Another dumb thing about the game is that you have to do little side missions such as saving a boy in the forest. When Goku is going to fight Napa and Vegeta in the episodes, do you see goku helping people getting a toy boat or saving little boys in the forest. I THOUGHT NOT!
The Game is very short and easy too. You can go to a level of 25. There is one challenging thing in the game and you will find that out on your own.
This is the worst game ever. DO NOT BY IT!. It will make you hate Dragon Ball Z.

The Legacy of Goku Review

I got this game becuase I was looking for Legacy of Goku II, but didn't find it, so I bought this game. I had heard good thngs about it. To make a long story short, you're Goku in the Saiyan, Ginyu Force, and Freiza Sagas. The game might need a strategy guide or walkthrough at some parts, but you can always figure it out. For the first half of the game, you do good deeds for people like saving a lost girl or getting a kid his toy boat. Another con is that you're fighting things that Goku usually helps on the show: Dinosuars, Snakes, Wolves and - I'm not kidding about this - Squirrls. Also, you don't fight all of the Ginyu Force. They also mess up the plot alot (hey, that ryhmed!). For example, King Kai teaches you Kame Hame Ha. You also get to go to HFIL (DBZ versoin of HELL) and capture spirits, battle Princess Snake on the snake way, and stop Frieza from destroying the world. Overall, this game is fun and entertaining, but doesn't really go with the show. Out of 10 stars, I give it 7.

"Dragonball Z: Legacy of Goku" was the first game I bought on GBA. I bought it because I'm a huge fan of DBZ. I was pretty disappointed, however, because this game isn't exactly what you would call exciting.

The game begins at the beginning of the Sayian saga and ends just after the Freezer saga. You can only play as Goku.

This game's main flaw is that, while DBZ is essentially an action anime, "Legacy of Goku" is more like a quest game, with very little action. You spend more time looking for items and trying to help out local strangers than actually battling enemies. It gets pretty frustrating after a while. Quest games are challenging and fun in their own right, but it just doesn't suit DBZ. Besides, who cares about a lost kitty cat when the fate of the world is at stake?

Also, what enemies you do fight on the way are pretty pathetic at the beginning. I mean, it's sort of sad seeing Goku, who could battle incredibly strong beings when he was twelve, have to fight snakes, wolves and bank robbers.

As for the battles against the stronger enemies (Raditz, Nappa, Vegeta, Frieza and his men), they feel very repeatitive, mostly because Goku's techniques are very limited. He can do a kai blast (which doesn't do much damage), the solar flare and the kamehameha (which can't reach anything beyond a few feet). He can also fly for a limited time, but that move is mostly used for reaching inaccessible places or for getting away from enemies. Also, he can hit with his fists, but you can never use that against strong enemies, because as soon as you get close to them, they hurt you. So it's rather hard to do anything in battle other than solar flare + kamehameha + run away and start all over again until your enemy is dead. Eventually, you have to go hide in a corner and wait for your energy to recharge.
The bird's eye view angle, the primitive graphics and Goku's excrutiating slowness (he can't even run) also contribute to this game's dullness.

I'm not saying this game was too dull to finish, but Dragonball Z definetely deserved better. Hopefully, the sequel will be more advanced.
