Got this one for my girlfriend so she could get in some game time. I've been playing since the days of Pong and love the fact that video games have come to such great heights. Unfortunately she can only handle simple controls and this was a great one for her. True, this would be a five star game if you could have the original controls for the games but beggers can't be choosers! I personally love the games and am hooked once again!!

Ehhh.....

Well, I have seen better! In my opinion, it is too true to the 15 year old versions...thought they might spice things up a bit! BLAH

This is ok but I think better!

I think better. This should be Nintendo Anniversary Advanced. I think Atari is fun reaaly fun but it would be better if they could come up with a NES one. I miss playing Atari and NES. I think Atari and NES games have some nice music.

Takes me back to my childhood.

If you compare against today's games, this might garner a 3-star. However, I really like some of the old games because they require more than many games today. This is a very good replica, so it garners a 5-star rating. My favorite is BattleZone (I spit on the recent arcade version of it). It requires good timing, precision and good use of resources (no, you cannot merely holding down on the fire button forever). These simple games beat 70% of the games on the market.

I really wanted to love this...

I love the games! It's what I grew up playing! But everything is just too small on the screen to enjoy it. And that totally ruins the game for me.

Honestly, spend your money on something better. An exact port of classic arcade games to a GBA screen, just makes everything too small. Don't blow your money on this like I did.

here come the 80's

There I was, sitting in my Lazy boy recliner, watching dvd's and talking to my homey J-Rock on the cell phone. The mailman dropped off some bills and a little brown box from Amazon...my new atari game had just been delivered. I grabbed my GBA system and popped the cartridge in, my hands shaking with anticipation.

Hours later, I finished my last game of missle command, blowing out the top score of all time. I sighed to myself, and turned off the GBA. I walked into the bathroom and glanced in the mirror...I now had on an Izod shirt with the collar turned up, and I was rocking a members only jacket...I glanced in horror at my feet, and my kicks were reebok hightops. On my arm, where there once was a blingy bling Rolex was a Calculator wrist watch. Oh no!

So be careful this game from the crazy 80's can make you retro as well.

Break out the old school side

Decent emulation for Asteroids, Battlezone (which I was never good at), Centipede, Missle Command, Super Breakout and Tempest. The Tempest controls are awkward, since with the coin-op version you play with a knob. Centipede and Missle Command, which used the track ball, works well with the GBA SP controls and movement is just as smooth. Asteroids seems a bit different to me; the graphics aren't as sharp as the original and things seem to be moving a tad bit faster than it should.

Atari Advanced is a great game. It has six different classic arcade games so its hard to get bored of it because you have such a variety. The controls are very easy and simple so you can spend time playing not figuring out controls. The graphics arent good, but its really fun and thats all that matters. You can play exiting arcade games w/o having to pay a quarter every time!
