I dont know how you mess up this bad! You can not bass the whole game on just him trying to get revenge, you have to get the rest of the x-men involved! I just dont understand how the graphics could be that bad and how you have the game that hard. You barly can get pass the first level even if you use cheats! i just thought they should have spent more time on the game to make it better and maybe released it when X-2 came out on dvd!

Pass it...

I [got], thinking it would be a great game to play and to be able to control Wolverine. It's not. Sure, you can use your claws, but you'll find yourself not using them most of the time so you can regain health during combat. You see, there are two main ways to regain health on this game: finding health icons and pulling your claws back in. When your claws are out, it does a little more damage to the enemy, but you also won't regain your health. The combot controls are sloppy, and hard as hell when you're facing multiple enemies. You basically tap "X" or whatever attack you want to use over and over and hope you'll get a stab at them, which is very hard to do. It's also hard to jump away from the enemy, which is also very frustrating. When you hit someone enough times, "STRIKE" will appear at the bottom of the screen. At this point, you can K.O. them if they're weak, bu if they're strong, you'll probably end up losing the fight. You'll die over and over again in the same part, and get frustrated, and if you're like me, just put down the control and leave the game alone and never play it again. The graphics basically suck. No other word can describe them. They look like something from a Nintendo 64 game. This game had potentioal, but not enough belief in it from the creators. I hope they make a "Pyro's Revenege", but make it good...

X2: Wolverine's Revenge......
Although I'm a big Comic Book fan, I must confess that I'm not too big on Wolverine. Don't get me wrong, Wolverine definitely kicks booty in comicdom....no doubt about that. It's just the whole mutant storyline thing just doesn't grab me by the short and curlies. Yet, after playing X2: Wolverine's Revenge, I've decided to reconsider those feelings. That being said, what do I have to say about the game? Well, first off, it's definitely going to change your mind, yet again, about comic book properties being made into videogames. Like Spider-Man before it, it's definitely changing the perception of how a comic-book property be made into a game.
For this to be your Basic Brawler(much like Fighting Force, but better), it has alot more going for it than just brawling. Certain areas require you use your animal instinct while others require you use stealth. At any rate, you have to use some strategy to make it through this game as some areas are downright cunning. Along the way, you encounter the likes of Sabretooth, Wendigo and others and battle to the finish so prepare yourself for some epic battles.
Developer Genepool did an excellent job with the game. They stayed true to the Weapon X storyline and delivered a game any Marvel fan would be proud of. The graphics are some of the best I've seen on the PS2. There's even alot of incentive to replay the game over again in collecting all the comicbooks to unlock original Wolverine costumes, collecting dogtags to unlock more.
I definitely give a hearty recommendation to all for X2:Wolverine's Revenge to be added to your PS2 library. It's one that shouldn't be missed by Comicbook fans and gamers alike.

Avg. game but cool at times

The Game is about wolverine and his virus. He try's to locate the 2 samples of the Anti-virus type A and B to save his hide. He goes through the game finding them whistle fighting very plain enimes, also fighting bosses such as magneto juggernaut and of course sabertooth. this game can some times make you think Ex: stealth and when to use it and moderitly easy puzzles. The graphics were OK. This game probly would not get a 5/5 due to clunky controls and the lock on mode (verry buggy) and hugging the walls(also buggy a couple of times I hugged a invisable wall) also hard to get off the walls when enimes saw me and started to attack. but there is alot of good things to like the stealth ability and stealth kills not much like wolverine but helps balincing a hack and slash. I also like that there is a unique way to kill every boss not just pound at them. The game is a bit repetitive sneak kill, sneak kill, hack and slash, hack and slash can get boring at times no reaply value (in my sense those are not "good Buys") if they had more time i'm sure it would have been a great game but it just barely made the mark meaning preatty avarage game. Recomended for die hard wolverine fans it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Sure you have nothing better to do?

This game has some neat cutscenes, but you'd better be willing to spend some time to get through them.

Some of the ways of conveying Wolverine's mutant abilities are interesting mostly as novelties: blow your top from trading enough beatings, and you'll achieve feral rage, killing people much more quickly with your bare claws; find your opponents and their security systems in an infra red-resembling mutant sense mode. Healing's a bit slow -- so much so that I found myself doing work around my apartment while waiting to restore full health. For a fighting game featuring a guy that's supposed to be able to [do away with] large numbers of people in record time, the hand-to-hand with mere mortals seems to show that you catch a beat down just as easily as you give one until you line up a choreographed move (as in: get your victim(s) to stand in the right place and then bang out the appropriate combination buttons) or work yourself into a blind rage. This makes the fact that you can only [expire] once in a level before being sent back to the start a rub -- this can be very trying when it's that one thing that you have to spend time minutes getting back to that you really want and need to work on. The bosses are too often boring: most of them are brutes that are as interesting to fight as Donkey Kong (Sabretooth, Wendigo, and Juggernaut aren't the brightest lights on the porch), except for the fact that you are stuck in a ... setting where you can't really move around, the camera adjustments don't work, and the surroundings explode with a bit of due warnings. The high points (e.g. feeding enemies to one another) are too far in between given these disruptions in the pace.

In short, if you think there's anything else you'd rather be doing with your time (reading back issues of the comic, playing some other, less [interesting] game), pass this one over. Marvel would be better off making a comic out of the game's material rather than the other way around.

I have seen a first hand look at this game and it looks good. It will help me pass the time while I wait for the real great x-men game in december. This game is the second instalment to the gameboy version. I am pre-ordering it as soon as I can.

Worst game I have ever played on PS2. The graphics look like they came right from the sega genesis. Nothing groundbreaking, and not hing like the real character. A huge slap in the face to wolverine fans.

A Good Game - But Hard

O.K. let's get started. Last week I rented X2 Wolverines Revenge for the PS2.I had saved up my allowance to buy any PS2 game I wanted. I wasn't too crazy about X-Men and Wolverine, but because it was a new game, I decided to check it out. well, at the end of the week my perpective changed about Wolverine and the X-Men. So, that weekend I went to buy the game. Well, when I was renting it, i thought "Yeah, the gameplay is good, challenging, Graphics are O.K." Those were the good things. The bad things were that IT IS HARD...So, I was forced to buy the strategy guide for it. Because of this, I have two points to make. One, is that Marvel should make games that are from 9 years old to- to-to 20 years old (at the most...So, now one week has passed, and I am on Act 3 (Part 3) Part1 (Level 1), including with the strategy guide. Overall, this game is great, but if you plan to beat it, get the strategy guide for it...

Closely follows the comic book stories.

This was an interesting video game. I am so used to playing sports games and GTA that I have forgotten how cool it is to be a superhero once in a while like Wolverine. The game is enjoyable all the way through. You are Wolverine, you have the claws, the healing factor and the awesome martial arts moves, not to mention great combo moves and sneak attack moves. As Wolverine you can also change the costume you wear as you go along the levels and pick up comic book icons. You battle Wendigo, Magneto, Sabertooth(twice), Lady Deathstrike, and Juggernat.
Now that I told you how great the game is, let me tell you why I gave it 4 stars and not 5. The movement of Wolverine when he is sneaking up on an opponent is so two-dimensional, he can only move so much, especially when he's against the wall, you can hardly move him at all! Also when hes fighting and the clock is running down and you need to move fast, he doesn't just turn and run, he backs up slowly as hes being attacked and when he gets a good distance away he begins to run. I would recommend renting this game just to kill time over a week because it doesn't take long to finish. You also have to check out Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse discussing future plans for Wolverine at the end of the game, and Wolverine trying to remember a name of one the mutants who escaped a prison designed for dangerous mutants such as Magneto, Juggernaut, and the one Wolverine remembers is- yipes Omega Red. Oh, and to the people who make video games-Juggernaut is not a mutant, he shoudn't be at a prison for them.
