Nice Game...Not as nice as Windows version...

I think it's great that SimCity 4 is available for the Macintosh operating system. The only problem is it doesn't have half as many features as the Windows version. No building editor, no nothing. You also do not gain access to the EA website which is half the fun of the entire game! Being able to download new buildings and create maps from real world terrain! Not only that but the price sucks. One half the features for double the price. Typical.

Not For MacBook

Sim City 4 is an awesome game, I've been playing it for years on my pc and would play for hours. Recently I got a mac and found out that there was also a mac version, so I bought, installed it, and was EXTREMELY disappointed. There are tons of bugs in the game, some graphics flicker a lot and there is a huge delay time between when you click a button in the game and it actually does what you want it to do...it's very frustrating, even with all the visual effects on their lowest performance possible, the game still runs unbelievably slow and is not worth 60 dollars AT ALL. The game still runs slow even with the patch released. I'll be playing this game on my pc and returning the mac version.

This game can get repetitve if you play it to much, it can SUCK if you run out of money, so cheat, make sure no windows are open and nothing is selected, and hold down at the same time shift+control+option/alt+command and a box will apear in the top-left area of the screen. use the code "weaknesspays" to increase you money amount (I you should cheat when the game paused) to get all gifts type in "you don't deserve it".

This game was a blast at first, and being a big fan of the previous Sim City games I was really impressed with the content. And then my city grew and the game got slower. And slower. By the time I hit 150,000 citizens I had to turn down all of the graphics to the bare minimum just to get the game to do anything. And then I had to turn the sound off because it was irritating to hear the helicopters over the city batting away endlessly (I think it's an unfixed glitch.) And as I neared 200,000 citizens I gave up. The game had bogged down to a freeze-frame that changes every ten seconds. Yay!
Now I'm on a brand new iMac (intel-based) and didn't think it'd have trouble like this, but something must have gone wrong in the crossover from PC to Mac to Intel-Mac, because this game is pretty much worthless to me at this point. And that makes me sad, because it was fun for a few hours. Even after searching and digging for patches (which are not easy to find and the game's website/help is not set up well either) it still stinks.

I'll give it two stars for potential, but if you're on a new iMac don't bother with this one.

Its ok

I thought it would be more fun than this. I was wrong. I thought I could make my own buildings, etc. But that is not true. Hour & hours of frustration. I put the game away. I couldn't even figure out how to add the city to my Sims 2 game that everyone brags about:(

Love it

BORING

I bought the first Sim City several years ago and I loved it. I have been buying later versions, but have been getting more and more dissatified. The problem is that I never liked Sim City in the manner it was always inteneded. When I a kid, I loved construction toys. That is how I used the original Sim City. I used a cheat which gave me all the $$$ I needed and turned off disasters. I just wanted to build cities. I had no interest in it as a game being mayor. The best sim city 4 cheat I found so far is for an extra $1000.0. Doesn't really do it for me. As a game it is just boring.

Alright

It's pretty good, but it could use some work, particularly the driving aspect of the game. It sort of seems that a lot of the update features are gimmicks; driving loses its fun quickly. Honestly, the game feels empty of challenge and quickly becomes uninteresting, when you start playing it RIGHT. It's the failing aspect of many games, when you're challenged to use the best strategy, and when it does it's not fun any more.

Jury still out

As this item was purchased as a gift, I can only guess that it was fun and received a high rating.
The receipt of this item was in a timely fashion and came in time for me to give it.
Unfortunately other attempts at purchasing items were not so favorable and so the jury
is still out.
On the whole though, Amazon reliability has been good and it looks as though I will continue
buying through you until I learn otherwise.
