The whole family likes to watch my son play this. Graphics are cute and not freaky like japanese manga. Easy to learn and challenging at higher levels. If you place a towel under the drum stand while on a table, the banging is less harsh.
It even helped my son's percussion lessons at school. His rhythm is dead on now!

A great addition to your Playstation 2 game collection!

This game is really fun! We moved to Japan recently and played the HUGE arcade version and it was an instant addiction. We were delighted to find it in a local Toys 'R' Us in a version for the PS2. Unfortunately the Japanese and American Playstations are not compatible, so we were unable to purchase it for home use. A few months later we found this version! While some of the Japanese songs were more fun, this certainly satisfies the craving for this game. We wish it had more songs to choose from, as we were spoiled by the extensive arcade selection! The four difficulty levels help keep the game challenging and fresh. It is great for all ages. Our four year old daughter plays it with just as much enthusiasm as many adults that play! If you buy this game, prepare to sit in front of your T.V. for quite awhile!

Fun for parties.

I bought this for my brother-in-law for Christmas, and went out the next week and bought it for myself. The game is a lot of fun (forget "Oni" difficulty though, it's impossible).

The real fun came in though when I picked up the Red Octane accessory drum for 2 player mode. Break this out with friends over and the fun factor goes up %500. In two player mode the two players don't play all the same notes. Player one might play the lead at one point with Player two creating the fill, then it will switch. This way, instead of drumming "over" one another, the two players work together to make the tune sound good. And when it doesn't sound good everyone gets a good laugh and round 2 starts (then 3 then 10.. it's very addicting to play).

I've had friends go out and buy it after a night of playing this game. It's a blast and now that it's down to $50 (It came out at $80), it's a great deal. I just home they make another game to play using the drum controller. A second game with new/more songs would be great!

Fun game but...

I played the original coin-op game while I was visiting in Japan 2001. It was fun and I have been wondering why Namco don't bring the game over US sooner. The US release however is a bit of a disappointment. Lots of traditional Japanese Taiko songs are not in the US release.

BEST GAME EVER

This game is so much fun!! my brother and I play it all the time. We try to beat each others high scores. we have fun hitting the little drums and listening to the great music. It's like dance dance revolution, but much better because of the cute graphics.

I first found this game about 2 months ago and I've Been addicted to it ever since.. Just look at the screen and hit the drum and watch your friends and family dance along with the tunes. The music is Amazing and the little animals that dance on the screen make me feel happy. Its great, not only does it improve your hand eye cordination but it also improves your fitness levels. Everyone should own this game. Infact I wish that I was playing it now!! Thats how good it is!. (Sorry this Game is getting me too excited, But I'm from England so I cant get it yet..I bought the drum sticks for this game about a month ago and I havent even got the game.. Thats how good it is!!!)

I love it! Truly not just for kids or teens. So much fun that when it got too late to bang on the drums for fear of disturbing the neighbors, I switched to the regular controller and made no noise at all--and it's easier because you don't have to be sure to hit the drum just right so my scores were higher. The songs are really great compared to what I've heard on the DDR games. At least with this one I am familiar with most of the titles. I honestly think that this would make a great gift for a player of any age. It will remain a challenge for along time because of all the levels. This is a real winner!

my tapeworm told me not to play this game anymore

I had a wack of fun with this game. If you finish all the songs and all the unlocked songs you can still use the sticks for other things - just use your imagination. I jammed a window open with one and chased my dog with the other.

WARNING - don't try to use them as chop sticks they are too fat and will leave the smell of sweet n sour sauce on them enticing them to be chewed by angry dogs sick of being chased.

Back to the game. I'm a good drummer. I can bang out the into to "we're not going to take it" easy - sneasy with just two pencils and a flat surface. That being said, I quickly made minced meat out of the easy level. Moving up to the normal level was another story. The circles come at you hard n fast. Faster than Joe's cat if you know what I mean. Faster than Joe that's for sure. Don't get me started on things that are faster that Joe. Here's a few I've thought of:
1) those bugs with A GAZILLION legs
2) a really good typer
3) my mom's car
4) clouds in one of those time lapse films where they show you a flower opening or something

I could go on if I didn't have so many OTHER Joe things to talk about. He used to like Metallica in high school. He pretend now to listen to only really cool stuff (when I first met him he was wearing a KMFDM tshirt) but one time we were at a bar we ran into someone who he knew from high school and I distinctly heard the words "you still listen to Metallica?" Speaking of bars, if you like finishing off someones drink who takes to long to finish then Joe is your man. The only way you can get him to drink up faster is to start singing some good drinking songs. Especially english sounding ones. Joe likes all stuff england. He likes saying Oi and stuff. I'm pretty sure he didn't grow up there though on account of running into that Metallica guy who didn't seem very english. Plus - I doubt the villagers of Winona would allow a non-Canadian to be their Duke.
