It's nice when a company has faith in it's unique franchises. And with a company as big as E.A., you would have faith too.

I'm talking about Def Jam: Fight for NY. Boasting some of the biggest names in both hip-hop fashion and talent (who lend their voices to the game) really adds to the authenticity of the culture the game portrays.

The fighting engine is easily compared to the classic wrestling titles on the N64. This is a good thing, as some will say these are some of the best games of the genre.

There are 5 fighting styles, which as you progress, allow mixing between them. With unlockable's including wrestlers, venues, and merchandise, there is plenty to keep you playing. Fans of fighters and hip-hop shouldn't miss this one.

Classic album hands down. I got this game around the same it came out and its still fun now days. You can get something new out of it every time you play it. One of the good things, is that you can change the way you wan't your player to look etc and customize his face, eyes etc. Good option.

The graphics, well i'll say for the type of game it is they are decent. Nothing good or nothing really bad. Just normal lookin graphics for Xbox. They dont push the limit or anything, but the same is so good graphics arent a biggie you know? But they did a good job on making the characters look like the actual people.

The sound is one of the best on the game. The music choices they use on the game are very good choices. I like a majority of the songs that are on the game, after you beat it I think, you can go to the sound and listen to ALL the songs! And in the storyline, the characters talk etc, really good.

The control, very very good. The game is very easy to learn in my opinion. Countering attacks can be quite hard to do, but learning how to fight is not hard at all. You will get the hang of that easily. I liked the controls, and all the fighting moves. You can upgrade your characters stats to make him stronger/faster etc. You can also use weapons a couple times.

Now, how fun the game is. Its crazy. While playing the storyline, it keeps you entertained a majority of the time. Your character has a Sidekick cell-phone and usually after each match youll get a messgage from other characters in the game. Mainly Method Man sends the most messages to you. There is ONE big twist in the game which is really good and keeps you entertained also. Then, you can buy clothes from a store in the game with the money you make from winning matches, another good thing. You can also by Jewelry, for the wrist, neck, earrings etc. You can get Tattoos, and different haircuts to make your guy look different as you want.

So overall, the game has a lot of things to do and is also really fun to play with friends on Multi-player so play that also! Really fun, just beat the game and unlock all the places and charcters or use a cheat lol. But its a fun game pick it up!!

a lot of fun, but very short game

I got this game 4 days ago and i played about 6 hours total, I beat it, but it is always fun to go back and create another story mode and beat it again. This game is a good game, especially in multiplayer, I recommend this game.

This is the most addictive game I have ever played. I've played it non-stop since it first came out in September, 2004. I also played Def Jam Vendetta before that, so I was a big fan already. It has all real rappers, actors, producers, Def Jam clothes designers and some made up characters. But where the Hell are Jay-Z and LL Cool J?!!? This game is the most addictive and frustrating game ever. That being said, don't stomp on your controller if you lose a fight. So screw all the fake ass WWE games. They will never be as good.

pure hottness

Okay everyone who thinks this game is the downfall of modern civilization.......relax.It's a game, and a damn good one at that. Graphics are great. Same for the music. It was meant to be fun, not a vision of reality. Anyway, the game play is tight, not too hard but not a walk in the park either. Story mode is actually well written. And the voice overs are right on time. Multiplayer is where the game really kicks a$$. Now, I'm 30 years old, and have a 10 year old son. Our ritual is to plug in 3 or 4 controlers, call his uncles and get to scrappin'!!!Very fun, very addictive gameplay. Leave Russell alone. you all know Kimora is fine. One beef.....WHERE THE HELL IS L.L.? He helped build Def Jam. Next game, show the man some love. 5 platinum stars!

Why rated M?

Why is this game rated m? i mean it's a little bloody, but overall it's probably the best game of 2005. You can play from over 40 characters and keeps kids and adults preocupied with the ultimate street fighter game.you can even design your own character and play out a story line while buying charcters and clothes. A four player game so even the little brothers or sisters can play against you or others. I ask again, why is it rated M? should be at least rated T. The best game of 2005 and trust me, should not be rated M.

Now this, this is a sweet fighting game. I have very little interest in hip-hop culture, yet this game is so well done that I was totally engrossed. The story mode is short even by fighting game standards, but the storyline is truly exceptional. It was like a novel that you can't put down. It's even surprisingly fun to deck your character out in the hottest funky fresh name brand fashions. I really got into this, and again I would never wear any of that stuff in real life. The central fighting mechanic is excellent too - easy to learn and hard to master - and it's anything but a button masher. Timing is all-important in this game - mashing buttons will get you schooled, hard. One other note, the easy mode is really too easy. Go with the default difficulty. And unless you have friends and/or XBox Live, there is not much replay to this and you'd do just as well to rent it since you can get through story mode in well under a week.
