Boring

This software is NOT Mac capable, in spite of representations that it is. Different modules have to be installed separately to enable different games, generally a pain. Also a pain - you have to leave the CD in the drive to play. If it had been expensive enough to justify the inconvenience, I would have returned it.

I found that this game was worth the price I paid for it.
It down loaded with no problem and was easy to understand.
The slot machines looked and sounded like the real ones.

Good practice, but no single-play option.

The slot machine aspects of this game are very realistic, except for the glaring, albeit expected, absence of the removal of the general point of playing a slot machine...to win money. Since slot machine play cannot be 'practiced' as a skill to improve the outcome, it does not take long for this game to become quite boring. It's still nice to have though, for those times when whatever else you could be doing, or nothing, is worse.

As for the Video Poker play, the tutorial program is quite good, and does allow you to practice to improve your game. What I dislike about it is that all the video poker features in this program are of the multi-play options (3 hands is the minimum, up to 100). I am not a big fan of the multi-play games, because I think it takes away from your true outcome and diminishes the thrill of the 2nd deal. If you only had one hand and hit 4 Aces you would be happy, but when you have 4 hands out of 100 hit the 4 Aces it turns to ho-hum. I've hit Royal Flushes twice in real casinos on single-play hands, and I can assure you the thrill of that was much greater than seeing it in a very tiny corner out of 100 hands. I have taken to now only playing the 3 hand version on this program, and try not to look at the top two hands.

Excellent game. Well designed. Plays as close to the real thing as possible.

Disk required

No where in the product description does it say that the disk must be in the computer to play this game. That is an unacceptable requirement for me. It should be plainly stated in the product description, then we could make an informed choice.

Great training for the real thing!

Lately there have been a number of shows on TV regarding Las Vegas - the hotels, food, shows, shopping --- gambling! After viewing them I thought it would be fun to visit. Naturally I would want to try my hand at gambling, but certainly don't want to lose my shirt!

With that in mind I ordered "IGT Slots and Multiplay Video Poker". Since slots are pure luck I decided to focus on the video poker. With video poker you can increase your chances through making the correct card decisions. The software loaded quickly and I selected the game "Jacks or Better" to train on.

The game is neat because not only can you play as if you were in a casino but you can also make card choices and the system will give you a score based on what an expert would do. If your choice is not the best you can look to see where you made your mistakes. The sounds and graphics are excellent. Grab a beer or glass of wine and you created your own private casino (without the cash of course).

By the end of the first day I was playing a game that I had never heard of before with 92% accuracy! I felt like I could handle the real deal in a casino.

The software includes 50 of the best slot machines like Wild Cherry, Hot Peppers, Haywire and Five Times Pay. Many video poker games such as Joker Poker, Bonus and Double Bonus. Blackjack and Spanish 21 are also included.

The instructions were good but as a complete novice there was some terminololgy I was unclear on and hence had to do a quickie internet search. But overall I feel its very good training!

So next time you are in Vegas and someone hits a Royal Flush at Jacks or Better hopefully it will be me. Even if I dont hit at least I won't feel like a total rube thanks to training with "IGT Slots and Multiplay Video Poker" AND my tight hand on how much I am willing to lose!

An actual casino!

I purchased this game because I absolutely love IGT slot machines. The Masque Publishing Company should be very proud of themselves. The real IGT games, like the most popular "Double Diamonds" is so similiar to the real game that only the sound is the difference. Even the payouts are the same as in a casino. With so many IGT games to chose from in this CD-ROM, I can't pick a favorite. You must check it out the next time you go into a real casino. You'll see almost all the real games on this PC game. You won't be disappointed. I wasn't.
The video poker is terrific too. If you like the feel of real video poker, then you must try this game. It is another copy of a 'real casino' video poker inside your computer. Can't beat the 2 types of games offered on one CD.
Great job Masque Publishing!!

The casino revolution comes home.

IGT stands for International Gaming Technology, though the "I" could just as easily mean "Innovative". IGT introduced slot machine players to imaginative features like Wild Cherry, which matches any symbol on the payline even when the Wild Cherry stops above or below the payline. In machines like Kangaroo, Balloon Bars, Leap Frog and Knockdown, special symbols rise or drop to the payline if they're one stop off. Haywire surprises the player with repeats of certain payouts while Spin Til You Win and Fourth of July treat players to a free round of spins until a winning combination hits.

What IGT did for slots, Action Gaming did for video poker. Their MultiPlay Video Poker machines are the most popular in casinos around the world. You place a bet on up to fifty hands, then play a single hand of draw poker. The cards you hold in your first hand are pre-selected in as many as 49 more hands. The machine then draws your replacement cards and deals cards to the remaining hands. The special paytables from IGT's legendary Game King library add even more excitement. When the machine deals you 3 Deuces and an Ace in Triple Double Bonus Fifty Play Poker, the suspense of watching for that fourth Deuce and its 2,000-credit payout among those 50 hands is downright heart-stopping. If you're lucky enough to receive four cards of a Royal Flush on the initial deal, well, then it's time to call an ambulance, just in case.

Spin Poker marries MultiPlay Video Poker with a 5-reel, 9-payline slot machine. Your initial hand spins into the center payline and the cards you hold are duplicated on the upper and lower paylines as stationary slot machine reels. Your drawn cards spin in on the discarded reels and the machine tallies your winnings on as many as 9 zig-zagging paylines.

Thanks to Masque Publishing, that sweaty-palm white-knuckle casino action is yours to enjoy anywhere there's a computer with a CD-ROM drive. Fifty great IGT slots and as many MultiPlay Video Poker variations come together on one CD.

The slot machine recreations are virtually flawless, though the sound effects, most likely for copyright reasons, are altered slightly from the actual casino machines. You can zoom back to admire each machine's cabinet artwork, and then zoom in on the reels when it's time to get down to business. The reels spin with uncanny realism, rearing back before the spin begins and clunking to a halt with a slight jitter.

In MultiPlay Video Poker, the machine will "squawk" when it deals a paying hand but, unlike the casino version, it doesn't display the hand's rank. You have to really keep an eye peeled when you're playing any Deuces Wild game to make sure you're not about to throw away a Straight Flush.

As if that's not enough, Masque throws in a couple of popular table games, Blackjack and Spanish 21. All of the MultiPlay Video Poker and table games offer tutorial modes to help you sharpen your skills and keep you playing longer. The slot machines can be played with their actual payout odds or at a higher-than-normal jackpot ratio.

The only real shortcoming is that you must have the CD-ROM to play the games. There's no option to install the entire contents on your hard drive and bypass the need for the CD. For that reason alone, I have to withhold that final star.
