Fun, But A Little Odd

This is a pretty fun game. I like how you can breed your horses and I've gotten some of the coolest colors (even though a bit unrealistic). The shows are at first fun and challenging, but eventually they get a little old and it's really hard to get past the second show. I mostly like it because of the breeding which really is a lot of fun! My sisters and I each have our own special farm name which we always put in the beginning of each of our horses and foals we sell to the dealer. Everybody always seems to be aiming towards having the best horses (studs included)under their farm name. That part's really fun! Some of the odd parts are that the colors are sometimes very unrealistic and you can't even see the tack when you put it on your horse. Also, the graphics aren't very good and the horses look like they just stepped out of a cartoon coloring book. But that shouldn't stop you from getting this game if your kids are horse crazy. Believe me, they'll probably still like it!

Fairly boring, not intuitive

My daughter and another second-grade friend both got bored of this game after 20 minutes of staring at a horse standing in a stall and listening to a cat meow. The controls are not very logical, and there is no animation to speak of.

this game is sort of pointless

The game is fairly hard. I bought it for my daughter but have ended up playing it for her. I'm 23 and am struggling with it. It can also get very boring and repetitive. I've played 30 rounds and havent even been able to place in the competition.

disappointed

I got this for Christmas and love horses, but this game is too frustrating. I ended the game with horses and money and when I signed back on I was bankrupt. Nothing in the guide or on the website helped me figure out what happened. It does not have very good directions or support.

I think it might be good for someone who is younger than 8.

I like the concept of the game but I REALLY don't like the graphics. If the graphics were better I would TOTALLY buy it but I'm not going to spend my horses feed on something I think is really geared toward someone under 8.
This is just my opinion and as I do not actually own the game I can only base my opinion on the pictures available.

My daughter loves the cd. She plays it all the time.

Defective product and no after service

I bought My Horse Farm for my daughter and was sent a defective product that would not work. Although I contacted Viva Media several times for service, they have simply decided not to respond either by phone or e-mail. I do not suggest anyone should buy their product.

Needs Work ...

This software has the feel of kids software, but the overall skills required are for someone older. You have to run the horse through different training levels, which have to be done through the arrow keys. The programming of the arrow keys are cumbersome, if you hold down too long the horse will go too fast, if you try to slow it down it often walks or stops altogether. Then the jumps, the timing & speed has to be right, so you are working the arrow keys then using the space bar for the jumps. As the mom & adult I have trouble working the keys with the right speed & jumps to accomplish the levels within a proper time frame to not lose the farm (you can only take the horse out once in a day or round, & each day costs funds). Now the other problem I have with the software. You have to run this from the CD-ROM, you have no choice to do a full hard drive install. Since this is for a kid, I generally burn a copy of the original, so the cd going in & out isn't the original that would be scratched & no good within a few months. Well the makers of this software put a block on their cd. You can make a copy of the cd, but you can't use that copy to play the game in the cd-rom. They even talk about it in their license agreement - which they say you can make 1 copy for backup only - but what good is that backup copy if you can't play the game with it? So you will overall find this software frustrating, personally as the parent I don't think it is worth the money - live & learn.
