I loved the first one,and this has to be a alot better. One reason is battle mode, you get to fight and hopefuly defeat the other players.Another plus in this game is thenew levels and animals and the ultimate mode for 80+,and you can trade symbole chats too.Soccer is another major thing in this gameyou will love this. The pay to play issue is no poblem its only 15 dollars every three months not a big problem.

PAY TO PLAY?

I was very upset (to say the least) regarding the pay to play policy for the upcoming PSO VER.2. I don't have a credit card, nor do I intend purchasing one. What about those who don't have credit cards or have preexisting credit troubles, or who want no association with a "credit" card? I have PSO VER. 1 and was looking forward to purchasing VER.2, but do to this unfortunate policy, I'll stick with what I have......*FROWNS*

One of the last decent titles of the Dreamcast

Phantasy Star Online Version 2 is one of the last games that you will still see on the shelves. Very few stores still sell this title, because it is the successor of the huge international bestseller "Phantasy Star Online". PSOv2 is about the Pioneer being destroyed, and your customally created character must go on a planet called Ragol to research what happened to it, where are it's remains and so on. A plot taken out of the "RPG Storylines" book. It has a weak storyline, but the gameplay is incredible. This game has a online and offline game. The offline game is you can do this adventure yourself, level up your character, buy items, learn magic tricks. The online mode takes advantage of the Sega Dreamcast's build in 56k modem, or a purchasable Broadband Adapter. The modem allows you to connect to the PSO server and play with people all over the world, including Europe, Japan, South America, Africa, Australia and other places with the Internet. The second version of Phantasy Star Online has more additions to it. There is a highly wanted "Battle" mode, which lets you battle other online players. That is really cool! They also have Go-Go Soccer which lets other PSOv2 players play soccer in the lobbies. Now, the cons to PSOv2 is that I found not too much use to it. If you read the cover, you must pay a steep fee of 15 dollars for 3 months of unlimited online play, due to the new filters to eliminate Gameshark users and people who use illegal items, and the overwhelming amount of users. So you have to convert your PSOv1 file into a PSOv2 file, and there is no turning back. The only way to get free online gaming without the extras is to play with version 1. Now, I purchased a DSL modem, and I got rid of my second phone line, which I used for PSO when there was no one online. The only way my DSL modem to get online is to buy the rare, exclusive, expensive broadband modem... They discontinued it after their announcement of the ending of the Dreamcast. Now you can only buy it on [name of store] for ridiculously high prices. I found no use for it, because I refuse to pay [dollor amount] to the additional [dollar amount] for hte game. You have to pay [dollar amount]to own the game and play online for a year.

Phantasy Star Online is an excellent expierence that must be had by any Sega fan. I recommend also playing "Sega Smash Pack" which includes "Phantasy Star 2" from Sega Genesis. I would recommend Phantasy Star Online Version 1 so you can get the expierence of free online play, at a excellent affordable price. You cannot find it in stores, but you have to look around online for it.

Hi,
i imported this game and it was worth it.this game is a must buy. the constantly keep updating it.so less codes and new modes of play. the battle mode is amazing, and the challenge is very difficult, always leaving you up for a challenge no matter your level or if your new or old to the game. if you dont plan 2 go online. i suggest sticking with ver. 1 if you have it. if your willing to go online.this is a must buy expansion.you dont need the first one for this game,so thats a nice expansion. the game is great,i couldnt wait so i imported. i think this is a must buy.

Man You gotta buy this COOL GAME~~!

PSO v.2

Let me say this in the first one you could get tons of items, weapons, armor and anything you could imagine. Well....In v.2 its everything times two ! Tons of upgrades, new items and tons more ! Some slight drawbacks though. No new characters, that stinks, no big deal though. And some of the same blah ( Did I sound arrogant, eek !) enimies. But there are new ones like Barbie a giant Rhino morph. Also you have to pay to play, luckily its not that expensive, its 15 dollars for every three months u play. I played the Japanese version and it ruled, but I wonder what the Americans got up there sleeve...?

Supposed to be excellent.

IF THE FIRST ONE WAS AWESOME, THEN VERSION 2 HAS TO BE TWICE AS AWESOME AS THE FIRST. BESIDES, BATTLING OTHER PEOPLE ONLINE TO PROVE YOUR BETTER THAN THEM, WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR?!

Gotta' Be Great!

I have to say the first game rocked! It was the holy grail of all video games. Know back to PSOver.2. The game is RPG like with a little shoot em' up in it. It has over 200 weps!(some incredibly rare to find and will take hours of play to find). The game is pretty complex with all the char. statistics but incredibly fun! The new version will have 2 more levels to play (Both can only be played in Battle Mode), all monsters look different, new dawn to dusk background effect, tons of new items like the Ancient Sword, Hildebear Cane, Plaintiff Leaf and tons more, new mags including old SEGA consoles and old SEGA chars. as the mags themselves!, new Ultra Hard Mode, Battle Mode so you can fight with other people insted og monsters and a new lobby soccer game which you could play for fun or when your just waiting for your friend. You start the game with a choice of 3 categories of character to choose from, Hunter's (Excell in close range combat), Force's (Amazing with Magic) and Ranger's (Great with guns). Tough choice, each has their strength's and weakness's. You decide. Then you start playing in huge, magnificent, 3D Worlds, defeating enemies while picking up any good items you find and leveling up your character so he becomes stronger and has a better chance against the game. There is a small bad thing about this new version. For where it was free to play online in ver.1, in ver.2 you have to pay to play..... From what you just heard, this game is very very addictive. You'll have hours of fun leveling up your own made char. to try to reach to lvl 200!(almost impossisible) Offline or Online. Battling Monsters to gain Exp. and skill, trying to collect all the best weapons and mostlly, annoy the people you live with to the brink of Insanity! Later!
