i used to hate fatal frame because of the helpless chracter
dieing once every 5minutes ..the problem was that i did not
upgrade or gather items like idid in onimusha1,2...
1 was good no great but 2 is even better you can now turn
whlile going up the stairs....sister s make thrill double...
the core system is same but
it.s be come more challenging.

I always used to think that nothing could get creepier than the Silent Hill franchise. I was wrong. Fatal Frame succeeds where many games/movies of this sort fail: it manages to make ghosts scary again. The game also has a unique take on the weapons system. Borrowing some elements from Onimusha, you can level up a camera, your only weapon, to better combat these apparitions.

Given the fact that I have yet to beat the game, I couldn't give you an entirely accurate summary of the story, but from what I've gathered, it's pretty good. For any survival horror fan, this game makes a welcome addition. I strongly recommend it.

This game is intensly disturbing. I am not going to spoil it, but I will say that when you play on easy or normal, the ending is very sad. It is almost done like a movie. I love it.

When I first sat down to play this, I had no idea how terrifying this game was. After the first time a ghost crawled out of a box, I started playing it during the day only. The plot follows two girls alone in a hidden village in Japan where a massacre occurred years before (leading to the huge amount of ghosts which roam about). Your only weapon is a camera, found inside the first house. Your goal is to save your sister who repeatedly goes weird on you and wonders off or is taken by the ghosts. Think the slums of the village in Spirited Away on a VERY bad night.

Gameplay: Good. Being as your only weapon is a camera, you have to switch into "camera mode" every time an attacking ghost charges you (which not all ghost do, but they can still be captured). You have no control of your character's sister except in two or three mini-missions. Not just a survival horror game, there are several puzzles as well that you have to muddle through. They can be challenging, but not over the top, Riven difficult.

Setting: Perfect. The village and houses for the game are dark, cramped at times, and beautiful in a horrifying way. You have to pay a lot of attention to what is around you, some ghosts are hidden and can give valuable rewards once captured, but you have to look for them among the setting and sometimes in odd places.

Sound: Minimal. There isn't a lot of background music through out the game, only when you are in battle is it really noticeable. But when the battle is about to begin, YOU WILL KNOW IT! A heartbeat sound is heard and then watch out for scary monsters and super creeps to be lunging for you. The save/load screens have some interesting, I'll be it very Japanese music, which really works sense, well, it is set in Japan and made by Japanese. Voice acting was top shelf.

Ghosts: Bladder clearing. Probably the scariest enemies of a video game I have ever seen. The ghosts are straight out of a Japanese horror film; black eyes, pale skin, creepy. The ghosts are shown in the fashion in which they dead (ex: the broken neck girl who can't keep her head up, the crawling woman who falls from the ceiling at you, but the most disturbing are the children ghosts...you'll just have to see those...*shiver*). Again, not all ghost will attack you, but none will help you, either. It is not uncommon to see figures walking out of some corner of the village and disappear. Plus, there are hidden ghosts, ghosts that will jump out but not attack, and other chilling spirits that will just walk by or say something simply to freak you out. The big bad boss at the end was a bit over the top as far as scary demon, creepy to look at but a bit over done and easy to finish off if you have enough film.

SPOILERS: Ehh...The end is truly disappointing. Even the good ending made my feel "well, if all this is for not, why did I waste my time". Not saying this game was bad, in fact, as stated above, it's by far the scariest game I've ever played (Silent Hill 2 & 4, close second and third), but I wasn't expecting to be angry for all the horror I was put through to come to that. I won't tell you how it ends, but in my opinion, it was a cop-out.

All in all, this game is great (scary as hell). Play in the dark, if you dare!

Ridiculously Scary

Right now I'm playing Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill 3, Resident Evil: Code Veronica X, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Outbreak, and this game is by far the scariest game I've EVER played. I actually have to take breathers before walking into a room, I literally scream as if I'm actually seeing ghouls, I get scared in the dark after playing, and I question myself why I even play this, it's that scary. If you decide to buy this beware of playing by yourself, there's a warning on the back of the box about this, take it seriously. I also have Fatal Frame 3 but haven't yet played it. If you're really looking for an amazing horror game you've fatal fallen across the right one.

A picture is worth

THE GOOD:
Truly a frightful masterpiece, Fatal Fame II leaves you in another world of survival horror with only a camera to defend yourself. At first glance you might think gWhat a stupid ideah or gwhere is the hand gun? Steel Pipe? And or rocket launcher with infinite ammunition!?h but I think that feeling of defenselessness just adds to the fear. Sure this is no normal camera (The camera has different lenses which act as different attacks) but itfs still a camera, can you really have a sense of security holding a camera? The Japanese style level design is superb and is only out done with their character/ghost design. Youfll really come to appreciate the ghost design since you donft have a high powered focus on your camera. I donft want to spoil too much but the gbattlesh you have to the ghosts are terrifying but the encounters which lead up to the gbattlesh could cause you to wet your pants.

THE BAD:
I always have a problem with English voice acting in games. Ifll admit itfs tolerable in this game but I still think leaving the option of using the original Japanese voices would have made this game so much better.

SUMMARY:
As a big fan of survival horror games I was drawn to Fatal Frame but the thought of simply taking pictures of ghosts didnft appeal to me, boy was I wrong. With all the survival horror games Ifve played this game still scares me even when I replay through. If you're a survival horror fan you will not be dissapointed.

Excellent!
Believe me... turn off the lights in your room; if possible, play it through headphones... and over all... PLAY IT ALONE!
You'll find with the most scary experience in survival horror ever made! The graphics are outstanding, a brilliant story, very well transalted into English (The voices in English, also perfect), the sounds and noise effects also wonderful!
If you like the survival horror, trust me, and buy this game, and you will like to keep it with you. Is a master piece!

In fact is true ... the terror returns this winter!

Much better than the first

This version is much better than the first one. The environment is much more clear and you can see the character's face better(the first one looked very blurry). The puzzles are a whole lot easier to solve, and you don't get really stuck on them much. I actually about to rated this game 5 star because it's really fun, but I rate it 4 star instead( becuase I'm stuck on the part where there's a ghost blocking the way and when it attack us, we will instantly die, and stone mirrors won't work. The size of the ghost is SOOOO big!!!) try it, it's fun!!! (p.s if you know how to get past the ghost, write me it!)

Well Worth Buying

Fatal Frame 2 has a unique story that will keep you captivated through the whole game. The ghosts and backgrounds are extremely well done, especially for when it came out. The ghosts really are terrifying. The game was great all the way through and I recommend it for anyone who enjoys a survival horror game.
