how can anyone not like this game?

simply put, this and code veronica are the best dreamcast games. i loved veronica for the challenge, but i still haven't beat it. I'm stuck at the stupid tryant on the plane part and cant figure out how to knock the eight foot tall freak off the plane! (lol) But i also liked re2 because not only is the story great, but once you beat there's a different story that you could beat again with claire or leon. How many other games have that?

really outdated

It's kind of late for me to write this review...both the Dreamcast and the PS1 are long dead and gone. I bought this game when it 1st came out on the PS1 and just loved it. Like any other RE junky I bought every port they crapped out just because I love this game so much and any extra is worth the price. The graphics are very dated by todays standards, but they are very clean and polished, unlike the old PS1 and the very crappy GameCube port I bought for 20 dollars more. Plus there are a little bit of extras. You can view all the movies, concept art, character models, etc. Which may not be a big deal to most people, but I like that stuff and just coming off the PS1 dual shock version this blew me away. I sold my Dreamcast *sniff sniff* and my N64 so I could buy an XBOX and own all 3 of the new gen systems. I miss this port a great deal, and can't even stomach the GC one. As far as the game goes...who hasn't played this game? It is my favorate RE of all time. Though if you never played it on PS1 and are really used to these new fangled graphics of today, this game is gonna look like crap to you and won't be much of an experiance. You just had to be there back in '98 when this was state of the art...but if you are looking for the ultimate port of this game, look no further. The N64 had some extra files that are absent from this version but who cares? This is by far the best looking port besides the PC. I know this isn't much of a review, but i'm reviewing it as a port of a classic game. And this game is a classic.

Needed just a little something special

The playstation greatest hit gets a near face lift with all of the challenges added and the add on packs. A nice controller and the great interface stay the same. Despite, lacking some more graphics up date it shines on as being one of the greatest survival horror games ever. What makes this game shine is being able to unlock certain options that the others lack. As for the three star ranking what tears that down is the factors that despite being a great game this is the DreamCast not the PlayStation some graphic face lifts would have been nicer. Seeing the lips move, watching the zombies crumble as they walk, and being able to tread blood on the floor as you walk. Don't call it sick but those little things are what set this apart from say Silent Hill 2. Had the technology just did not use it right.

Best Resident Evil!!!!!

It's another miracle RE from Capcom. A bunch of different things to do, and difficulty settings to help you in the game depending on your experience. I recommend to anyone who is looking for a thrill. In my opinion it's the best for it's time, better than RE 3 Nemesis by far. A must have for anyone, i give it a perfect 5.

Fun, but no comparison to RECV

This game is interesting, I would almost say great. But I can't because Code:Veronica is great and RE2's graphics just don't compare to it. Graphics are just bad. When I move on from the current screen picture, the game freezes for like 2 seconds, and as I move a lot that freezing is kinda annoying.

I am playing this game now, having already completed RECV, and this game just seems ridiculuos to me. Like playing International Karate on Atari after playing DOA2 on dreamcast.

Very good story and setting...

even better than Code Veronica's setting and story. On the DC the graphics are upgraded and such but are kind of wierd at times, kind of Surreal almost.

Be warned, play this before Code Veronica or the less developed graphics will turn RE2 into a joke.

Man, this game is hot! I simply love playing this game over and over. Even though I know where everything is in the game, I still find myself playing this game. For me, there is still some of Resident Evil: Director's Cut and Resident Evil 3: Nemisis that I want to finish. The graphics are amazing. People think these graphics are lousy, "you guys are idiots", line from Resident Evil: Director's Cut. Dreamcast, I admid, could have made an entire full production on making RE2 look like probably better than Resident Evil: Code: Veronica. Instead they gave us a cleaned up Sony Playstation version, which is way too cool for words. Added to the game, Dreamcast included 3 more modes of gameplay such as "nightmare" other than the standard modes. Awesome...in word amazing. The battle mode kicks [...]. Also in battle mode there's a Chris Redfield. The concept of the game is quite beautiful in everyway. The sense of characterism development as well as story development is apparent in all Resident Evil games, (mostly this one). All I own is a Sega Dreamcast and a Sony Playstation new model. Well simply because they both compliment eachother in the gaming industry. You can seriously tell that the level of dedication to Sony Playstation in Sega Dreamcast is obvious and way cool. [...] If you own a Dreamcast buy this game while you still can! You have to own this game. An essential buy. I mean, its way cheaper than the N64 version and the N64 version totally [...]. I can't say enough good things about this game, just buy it!

cool game !!!

The evil returns with brand new music that is awesome, new enemys, and new guns! This game rocks, frist you choose youre charcter Claire Redifield or Leon S Kennedy. You can fight new enemys like the licker. You learn about the new viriust the G viruis witness an scientist turn into a horrible monster. So I hope you enjoyed my review. Plus when you beat the game you can save it and unlock a secret to play a differnt version of the other chacter. So I hope you enjoyed my review.
