Throw this lunker back into the water

This game is booooooorrrring. My goodness is this game boring. If you're not asleep now, you will be once you've played this thing. I actually think that the talking "Billy Bass" (you know, the one in the commercials that sings) is a whole lot more entertaining than this.

fun at first ,really slows down

When i first got this game i thought it was fun. After an hour or two,it began to get really boring. This is probibly do to the fact that it is really easy, really really easy. Also it becomes really repetitive.

Excellent game at first, but deteriorates within days.

This winter, I have been really irritated that I couldn't go fishing because my boat was put away. My parents noticed that too, so they bought me this game with the fishing controller. The first weekend I played it, I was amazed as my craving for fishing went down. That Sunday, I unlocked the 2 secret levels and I caught the 3 secret fish. Next Sunday (today), I unlocked about 250 items and played it for 1 hour this weekend. The game is easily finished, and THERE IS NO FISHING COMPETITION MODE. That trait really makes me angry. In Sega Bass Fishing, the competition mode is really fun and challenging. This game deserves 3 stars because it's not horrible, yet it's not the best. ONLY PURCHASE THIS IF YOU LOVE FISHING. If you don't love fishing, you won't appreciate this game as much as 2 stars.

Great game, needs more stages

If you enjoy fishing, or have stressful jobs like me, this is the perfect game for you. The graphics are very realistic, and the music, although obnoxious, can eventually be turned off my earning a special item. The arcare mode is too easy, even on the very hard difficulty setting, but the replay value is outstanding. The best part of the game is watching those marlins and sailfish fly thorugh the air.

MY WIFE AND 3 YR. OLD SON LOVE IT !

Sega Marine Fishing-A truly unique game

If you liked the unique gameplay and action of Sega Bass Fishing, you will love the new Marine Fishing game from Sega. Sega Bass Fishing was a great game, however, you were only able to catch one type of fish (Bass) and it was very, very easy to reel in and fight the fish.

In Marine Fishing, you can fish at a number of different locations for 15 different types of fish. The great thing is that with each cast, you never know whether you will catch a Tuna, or have a huge Marlin come out of the deep to snare your lure. Unlike Bass fishing, these Ocean fish are huge, and take some time and skill to reel in. The Sega Fishing reel controller is a must for this game. Some of the larger fish can take 2-3 minutes to land, and these fish are able to take out line to a much greater extent then in Bass Fishing.

For those who have never fished in the Ocean, Marine fishing provides a truly realistic eye-opener as to the size and aggressive nature of the fish in the World's oceans. As in real-life, the fish in the game will aggressively attack the lure, sometimes in schools. Also as in real life, it is a challenge to hook the fish and reel them in without the line breaking. My 2 and 4 year old daughters who love the Bass fishing game are struggling a bit with Marine Fishing because it is just much harder than Bass Fishing. However, this is a good thing. My guess would be that ages 6 and up can master the controls and technique after a few hours of gameplay.

The graphics and gameplay are excellent. The only complaints are the fact that I haven't figured out a way to turn down the background music, which can get tiresome at times. Additionally, it would have been nice to have the ability to have different underwater camera angles to get a better feel for the whole bottom of the ocean or bay you are fishing in.

The really great thing about this game is that it is very addictive and like Bass Fishing, is an extremely original entry in the world of shoot-em up/crash-em up dominated dreamcast software.

For fishing addicts, the game is a must, and it is also an excellent choice for parents who want to avoid video games with guns, violence, etc.

If You Like Fishing.......or Fishing Games...This Is It !!!

This game was given to my family as a Christmas gift. We recieved it and the fishing rod. We own the sega bass fishing game also, and I was reluctant. I was fearing that it was going to be the same format and there would be nothing outstanding. I was wrong!!! Bigger Fish -> Harder To Catch -> Added Lures -> Beautiful Scenic Designed Stages -> and the fish really do fight back. I am 19 and I think this game (for a fishing game) stands above all others. I mean how many other fishing games with this quality will allow you to catch Great Hammerhead sharks. Putting ontop that the stage where you catch them is very dark, and the background music gives off an erie feeling. This game just plain and simply sucks you in and doesn't let you go until the system is turned off. Out my brother, sister, mom, dad, and myself........my mother(46) is the most addicted to this game. She is an avid fisherman(women). She loves this more than any other game she has played before. (this is going to be a long year)

So, If you like to fish (in games, or real life) Play This I promise that you will not be dissapointed. absolutely amazing game. Sharks, Blue Marlins, Sail Fish, and many many more. We Love It!!!

A good reason to buy the Dreamcast

Hi,

I live in Hawaii where I've been going salt water fishing for over 10 years. I've always been waiting for a salt water fishing game to come out, and was very excited to play Sega Marine fishing.

I was not disappointed. The graphics of the fish are very realistic, the fishing spots in the game are what every fisherman dreams of. Most of the fish in this game can be caught in Hawaii, which makes the game really exciting. The Sega fishing controller makes you feel that you are fishing. My only complaint with the controller is that I wish that they put the handle on the other side just like a salt water spinning reel.

This game is really exciting to play, and it is great for getting kids interested in fishing. Through this game, they can learn about the different types of lures, the names of fish, and basic fish fighting. Better to lose a big fish in a game, than in real life. I'm amazed that this game can immitate the joy of fishing in the comfort of my lazy boy fighting chair. Nothing beats real fishing, but this comes close.

Skip The Small Fish and Go to the BigĂ˝ Ones

If you liked Sega Bass Fishing you will love this one. The isn't for the hard-core sim player, it's arcade. The gameplay is simply great, even though you are confined to a "small" area. The fish have great AI and some of the best camera angles. An other great feature on the game is to earn other objects.(Different line, hats, sound tracks, fish for your aquarium, even a dog, ect.) There is over 200 new things to get, I haven't got them all yet.

There is 5 fields; The Offing, Shallow, Coral Reef, Fishing Port, and Hide away to Big Fish. There is not a bad selection of fishing lures and fish. Here is a idea of the fish you can get; Blue Marin, Sailfish, Tarpon, Tuna, Mako Shark, Hammerhead Sharks, ect. There is 13 different types of lures, each type of lure has 8 different lures.(104 lures in all)

The graphics on the game are great all though they could of made the fish to greater detail. The "small" area has very dense graphics, for example on the field "The Offing" there are small subs, a huge sperm whale, dolphins, ect. There is no slow down, which is very weird because of the great dense detail.

Over all this game is well worth the 20 dollars. Sadly, there is a lack to play tournaments. But the e-mail games, mini games, and online ranking. I've done alot of marine fish'in and I think you should check this game out.

Great Buy

I just got this game a few weeks ago because I was bored and had some money to burn. I already own sega bass fishing and i thought I might give this one a chance too because bass fishing was fun. I was completely blown away by how good this game is! There is a tremendous amount and varity of both fish and lures. The fish range from 7 pound skipjacks to my personal record, a 365 pound blue marlin. The lures are also great because each kind of fish has about 7 lures specialized just for it. Another great feature of this game is the aquarium. By catching fish, you can put items into your aquarium ranging from fish to stonehenge. A VMU is a must for this game if you intend to take full advantage of this feature. The only thing lacking on this game is a tournament mode, like in bass fishing. Other than that, there is a not a single thing not improved upon. You actually have to work to catch the fish, unlike them being basicly handed to you in bass fishing. Overall, I think this game is a great buy, especially for only 10 bucks.
