I do not own Sega Smash Pack For Playstation But I own it for Dreamcast let me start off by sayin the genisis games are changed none whatsoever.I was a big fan of an Extremely rare game called Altered Beast when i saw it on the package i flipped. It is excatly like its Arcade counterpart.I also Love Sonic the Hedgehog wich is also on here. The Music everything is the same.Phantasy Star 2 Is a wonderfull game that many have not played.I hve a new appreciation for Genisis now.Revenge Of Shinobi Or Shining Force ring a bell? pick this one up.Not all the games are that great but there are many that are.

Smash Pack Sucks. All the games except Virtual Cop 2 have the most god-forsaken annoying sound in video game history, especialy Golden Axe. This was done very badly. ... Good thing I only borrowed it!

Excellent and fun!

Hey, now this is what I'm talking about!! The only reason I miss about my Genesis was Streets of Rage and Golden Axe, and now I can play it on my DC. The sound is a little messed up, like on Sonic, it sounds nothing like the original, but it still plays the same. I found some great games on there that I had never heard of but now love, like Shinning Force, that game is awesome, and Vurtual Cop 2. Get this if you miss your Genesis, or, if you never owned one, you might still want to look at this. By the way, to the guy commenting on Golden Axe sound, that sound is actually right from the Genesis game, it is one of the few games on the cd that they got the sound right on.

Old-School never looked so good.

Ever since my Genesis collection was stolen, I can't say how much I am thankful to Sega for releasing the Smash pack as a seperate title. To see Shinobi, Golden Axe, and Vectorman again brings back so many memories. Why would anyone say this collection stunk? It rules.

A Great Blast From The Past!

This Is A Good Disc. I Highly Reccomend This For Everybody. My Only Complaint Is The Game Sega Swirl. I Mean, Why Would Sega Put A Game That Isn't A Classic On This Disc.

Miss your old genisis?

SmashPack is reminiscent of byone Sega Genesis & Saturn days. If you ever had one of those, then you'll most likely recognize some of these in this 12 game compliation. Honestly, I don't play all 12 games. I bought this cd for 6 of them, but hey, you can't get 6 games for [price] either! There are some "newer versions" of the classics, such as VirtuaCop 2 which is a follow-up from Saturn's VirtuaCop, as well as Genesis' Streets of Rage 2. A newer game included that is fun is Sega Swirl. Probably one of the better known games is Sonic the Hedgehog...poster boy for Sega. Keep in mind, these are classic versions and will not illuminate your screen w/ awe-inspiring graphics like those of today. But, it is fun to be able to play these on my Dreamcast(which I love!) as I have missed Sonic, Columns and Streets of Rage from my old Genesis. I gave it 5 stars because it is a good compliation of games from "yesterday" and for the price, you can't find a better way to enjoy these classics. Also, makes you really appreciate the awesome graphics that we so commonly enjoy in gaming today. If you're looking for a great volume of classic games, this is it.

A mixed bag

About half of the games contained on this Smash Pack are still fun games to play today, the rest feel too dated to be of much fun and makes me wonder why certain titles were picked. Streets Of Rage 2, Sonic The Hedgehog, Golden Ax, and Vectorman stand out as the best games on the pack. THey're still fun, not too difficult, and haven't grown boring with age. Virtua Cop 2 should also be up on that list, but since I don't have a gun its not as fun as it could be. Shining Force and Phantasy Star 2 are two decent RPG which could probably be enjoyed by a fan of the genre. The two puzzle games Columns and Sega Swirl aren't too special, but aren't really bad either. Revenge Of Shinobi seems like it would be fun if it weren't so insanely hard. Finally, Altered Beast and Wrestle War are the only two games on here that I'd classify as being terrible. I guess my only two problems with the set were that I wish some different games had been on here in place of some of the ones I didn't particularly enjoy, and that maybe a few more games should have been included to sweeten the Smash Pack. Overall, it really depends on how many of the games you like, and what you want to pay for the ones that you do like.

Faithful translation to the dreamcast.....except the sound

I have to say that the Sega Smash Pack is a complete blast, firstly, and before I get into the nitty gritty of my dislikes, I have to say that the smash pack is awesome. I grew up with the genesis, and I remember the better half of the games on the smash pack. Golden Axe, Sonic 1, Phantasy Star 2 (I still have to beat that game), Revenge of Shinobi, they're all done incredibly well. except for the sound reproduction.

Now I'm sure we all know that sega decided to take the easy way out of redoing each game and just made an emulator to handle the genesis games in their raw form. If not, there's a head's up right there to what I'm getting to. Now, seeing as the emulator is meant to mimic the original system, it can't be perfect, can it? In some cases, it can, in this case it is not. The sound reproduction is horrible, and it's a bear to sit through 15 minutes of listening to phantasy star, or shining force.

My words of advice are these: if you want to get the smash pack, then great, hop to it and buy it now. but be ready to turn the volume all the way down and turn on some other form of audio entertainment.

Great game, just turn down the volume

It's great being able to play all the great games on here, but what is with the sound??? Now I know the Genesis didn't have the best sound quality, but it least it was listenable, the sound on here on the Genesis games is absolutely terrible. Besides that gripe the games are great though, being able to play Phantasy Star 2, Shining Force, Revenge of Shinobi, and Streets of Rage 2 without having to hook up my old Genesis is great, plus the addition of Virtua Cop 2 and Sega Swirl adds a lot to this great package.
