Graphics are good, but the game is useless after a few hours(PS3 version)

Firstly, I am not a fanboy of any console. Here is my unbiased opinion on Virtua tennis3. Get the XBOX 360 version if you want to play online. The ps3 version might look a tad better graphically(in offline mode), but lacks online functionlity and I know for sure that many of you folks would love to play any sports game online since CPU based challenges are quite boring.

Everything else about the game is pretty good. Definitely better than Topspin 2, but Topspin for XBOX is still the best tennis game(unfortunately Topspin does not play on the 360).

As for the PS3 owners(including me), we have to hope the SEGA magically develops some interest towards PS3 and gives us online play(both Virtua tennis and Virtua fighter) or Sony needs to develop more sports games inhouse too.

Really fun!

This is a really fun game. It is great to play multiplayer and graphics are awsome. A sure rental. Not sure if its worth buying though.

Great game, but short story

I was very excited when i first got this game.
It has great graphics, and is very fun to play.
The only problem that i see, is that even though it has various game modes, they are not so exciting, they help you to improve your in game abilities, but the get very boring after a while.
I finished playing with the story mode in 2 weeks, its kind of hidious because all you do is play and play the same thing over and over, but there is not much to do about it, its a tennis game, the same happens with soccer games, basketball games, etc.
I havent tried it by playing with somebody else, none of my friends are PS3 fans, but it looks like a great game to play between 2 or more people.
I am a huge fun of tennis, and thats why i got it, when i cant go out to play real tennis because of rain or other reasons, the game makes me feel almost as excited as playing in real life.
Its not a must have, unless you are a big fan of the game!

Addictive, challenging game play

This is the most polished Virtua Tennis in the series.

I played the older versions in PS2 and PSP. Game play wise, VT3 actually is the same as those older versions. You get the latest and greatest tennis stars and new mini games to power up your custom player. The interesting thing is in VT3 the computer AI is quite smart. You cant cruise through the game like before. Have to use some brain. Thats the nice part.

Other than part, its pretty much the same game as the previous versions with better graphics (1080p!)

If you never play Virtua Tennis before, then I highly recommend this game to you. Its easy to learn and play. Its fun and addictive.

Lack of online features is the only bad part

I would have given 5 if the PS3 version of this game has included online matchups but for some reason Sega did not include that feature unlike its XBOX360 counterpart. Yet, the visuals are stunning, and the gameplay is highest possible i can imagine, thanks to Sega's long time history with arcade-game style. It is a lot of fun to play with your friend, both on Singles (1 vs. 1) and Doubles (2 vs. 2).

Career mode is also great. It is a BUY unless some other title comes along that combines strong-gameplay and online feature.

Great fun!!

This is a great game the graphics are great, but not mind blowing i think they put all there efforts into the actual players the back ground is a bit poor e.g. the audience look like cardboard cut out's. BUT don't let that put you of, this game is great fun for all ages and the commands are so easy. a must for sport game fans!!

Fun to play

As many users here, I owned the PSP version of this game, which was extremely fun and addictive. The PS3 version has several upgrades, but the game remains quite similar. Create a player and start practicing and participating in events to rank up and access more challenging championships.

With an extensive rooster to choose from, you'll soon be hooked up to this game, its easy to learn but it gets really challenging. Graphics are great, and most of the players resemble their life counterparts.

Where this game fails miserably is in the soundtrack. Its a non-stop arcadish tune that drives you insane during the matches, fortunately you can turn it off and enjoy the game.

Another issue is that the game lacks multiplayer option. I must say that it would be really fun to have a world ranking system, but probably to much to ask.

If you like tennis or looking for a simple and fun game to play, get Virtual Tennis.

PROS:
- Great Graphics
- Highly addictive
- multiple languages depending where you play

CONS
- Annoying soundtrack
- No mutiplayer options

Best Tennis Game Period!

My favorite tennis game returns and Running at 1080p. It is basicly the same tennis that you played on your dreamcast, or PS2. Gameplay wise it is simply amazing, Graphics are pretty good but this game is all about gameplay and succeeds at it flawlessly. The single player is fun but I prefered the training sessions of the later versions where you earned money aswell as experience. The only drawback and a very important one is the lack of online play. I guess we all wish they could send us an update via the playstaion store But if you have 3 friends over and extra controllers, expect to have long nights of great fun.

Fun, short attention span game

This is a fun game that isn't too complicated and requires little mental commitment--the gaming equivalent to a short film. You can have a lot of fun without learning specialized controls and you really can fit in a fun game in less than 5 minutes.
The controls are almost too simple (which is a plus.) Once you stop over thinking the controls, game is a blast. Even my 3-year old can return a volley. It really is a fun, short attention span game.

great fun... for a while

I've played this game for about 30 total hours now. It's very well done and addictive. Nice graphics, good depth in developing abilities with training games. The only gripes are about difficulty, Having mastered the gameplay, Hard is too easy, yet Very Hard is a nightmare. The CPU runs down EVERYTHING, and even when lunging returns shots at impossible angles to deny hard earned points. The volleying doesn't work like it should, also denying sure points with inexplicably weak returns. These "cheating" elements have now killed the game for me. The Chasm of Difficulty between settings really hurts an otherwise great title. With a friend it could still be very fun, but there's no online option. Worth the price, but could be better.
