P>Control is blocky, it's easier to precision-drive a dunptruck
graphics, if you dare call it that, are weak and gave me hour-long headaches

maybe i just hate arcadie games, but this was just bad.

it only got a star because there is no 1/2 star

Great Game to add to the SF collection

This game has only graced my living room for several days now and it has been just as fun as the previous versions of the game. Although I cannot pull of several of the moves (alpha counters) because of lack of practice, I highly enjoy playing the game. My gripe with playing SFA3 is the controllers. I think that a new version of the DC game controller needs to be released. The digital stick is raised to high from the front. These games were designed to be played with the digital, not the analog stick. My thumb get too sore and callused in short order. Over all I think it was well worth purchasing.

Great Game with a New Twist

Most people are used to Street Fighter games like Third Strike and Marvel vs Capcom, but Alpha 3 gives you a different look. Its a game that takes you back almost to the original Street Fighter games, and it features all the characters from the original, like Dhalsim, Dee Jay, Fei Long, Cammy, and Guy. This game has tons of modes and options to keep it alive, and the game presentation is excellent.

This game is a must buy for Capcom lovers.

A modern fighting classic

If you're reading this, then this game may not be for you. I say that because the type of person who'd enjoy this game most likely already owns it. If, however, you're looking to see what the Dreamcast version has to offer, or you're trying to break into the genre, read on.

First and foremost, fans of strictly 3D fighters (a la Tekken, Soul Calibur, or Dead or Alive) need not apply. This game is 2D only, and if you've grown accustomed to the slower pacing of most 3D fighters, the transition can be a bit of a shock. You should know what it is, exactly, that you're buying before you order. Also, this game isn't the best looking 2D fighter you can buy. While it certaintly looks nice, it doesn't look really any better than the arcade version as far as character animation and such goes.

So why the 5 star rating? Simple. The gameplay. This game has it in droves, and this isn't the instant pick-it-up-and-master-it-in-10-minutes kind of gameplay. The multiple single player missions, character saves, three different "isms", and the overall deep build of the game make it seem more like an extremely high speed game of chess than a $20 fighter. A good player can soundly trounce those with less experience, and it's very rare that a new player can sometimes one-up a veteran through luck and button mashing. Tekken has this problem, though some don't consider it a problem. I, however, prefer a system that rewards those with the patience to master it. To each his own.

This game can, and will, teach you if you're willing to learn, however. A very good single player element lets you build up your characters in a quasi-RPGish manner. The better you fight, the more points you have to spend on making your character more powerful. You newly beefed character can either be left to complete the single player missions on his own (which are very creative and fun with set objectives like "beat 5 characters at once" or "use only super moves") or can be exported to the arcade or vs. modes. For added fun, find a friend with a character he's made, and pit your two characters against each other. Or, just play it in regular old arcade mode, which is perfectly translated and looks just perfect on the Dreamcast. If you thought the PSX version looked nice, wait till you see this. It won't turn any heads who are used to 3D, but as far as 2D goes, it looks mighty good considering the age of the game.

All in all, an excellent choice if you consider yourself old-school fighting gamer and have the patience to learn. For those who prefer quick, painless, flashy, and shallow, look elsewhere.

For those in the know, this is Capcom in top form.

This is one of the best games i have played on the DC, and the best street fighter, that i'v played. First off the characters are drawn at low res. so dont expect the buietful character animation in Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike. The gameplay is awsome, there is 32 characters to pick from, lots of different types of modes: Arcade, Teambattle, vs, dramatic mode, survial, and a couple more. The music for some reason outsounds the
sound-fx, that the only draw back that i see. All in all, get this game, if your fighting fan, or just want to have some fun with some of your friends. GET THIS GAME!!!!

My favorite Street Fighter game

I have been playing fighting games all my life mostly Mortal Kombat,Street Fighter,Virtua Fighter, and Tekken games.I recently bought this game on Amazon, and it's so much fun in dramatic battle 2p co-op against the computer. This game is such an awesome game and has so many different fighting modes to choose from.I like the World Tour Mode, you build up up your character every time you beat an opponent.

This game is like the Playstation game except the graphics and sound are way better, also their is little or no loading. This version is just like the arcade version except their is more modes and more replay value.Their is so many characters, but some are almost the same like Juli and Cammy they have almost the same moves. The fighting is almost the same as Street Fighter 2,but it has fighting styles like A-isms,V-isms,and X-isms they are just different ways to do super moves. My favorite fighter is Shin Akuma.

I played Street Fighter 3rd strike and I prefer this game over it because this one has more modes and extra characters. This game plays just like Super Street Fighter 2 turbo which is another classic game. This game is recommend if you like the Street Fighter or just like 2d fighting games.

Pros: great selection of fighters, tons of modes, fun 2p co-op mode, fun game for playing with your friends, arcade perfect

Cons: too many similar characters, not everyone likes 2d games
