This game doesnt have drama, fancy music, nor exquisite story lines, but it does have good graphics, barrels of fun, and lots of excitement. I've played the game in 1 person mode only, but u can play with as many as 4 people or more than that on-line. The basic point of the game is to destroy and kill all others. There are seemingly endless fighting environments, and though at first the environment seems large, u soon become familiar with them and they have a nice layout and good feel. U get an assortment of cool weapons and can choose various skill levels to make it easier or harder depending on what u prefer. This game is just a shootem up game, but u can use strategy if u like a more skillful killing session. My only complaint is that the control buttons could be better programmed, and if they give u an option of choosing different control functions(u get 4 2 choose from) they should have put in the ability to customize the control. Other than that I dont have much 2 complain about. Unreal Tournament is a nice game. It can get extremely fast paced and crazy.

Do you enjoy shooting things?

This is a pretty fun game. Compared to most of the first person shooters for all of the consoles, this one is right up there with one of the best, behind Bond and Perfect Dark. I read someone else's review of this game and they said the frame rate was really slow. It isn't as fast as most people would like, but it never drops below thirty. Definately not in the single digits.

Unreal Tournament vs. Quake III Arena......What a battle!

Although it is not as fast, frantic, and downright crazy as Quake 3, UT makes a good attempt to be the Frag King on the Dreamcast. The graphics aren't as smooth as Q3, as is the frame rate...but the slower pace makes for some more strategic gunnin', if that's what you're into. There are more weapons, which makes for more diversity, and the levels are ingenious for Deathmatch and Capture the flag. Also, online tournaments are plain and simply better, due to the fact that servers allow up to 8 players instead of only 4. In summary, if you are into fast paced, mindless killing, go with Q3. If more strategic and diverse battles are your bag...Unreal Tournament would be your choice.

My friend has a dreamcast and Unreal Tournament. He brought it over to my house and I played it for 3 hours straight! I loved it! if you are going to buy a game for Dreamcast and you dont have this one, BUY IT NOW!! there are a few bad things about this game though.I have this game on computer and the game on dreamcast doesnt have an asult mod. it is also missing a few maps and characters. thats alright though. this is one of my top 3 favorite games on dreamcast.

Great game, bad players!

I'm not a Quake fan so I won't compare this to Q3A like most people. Instead I'll just say that the framerate is smooth as silk while playing solo offline, graphics and sound are plenty good, and the difficulty level is a lot like the third bowl of porridge...juuuusssst right.

While playing online there are occasional lag problems. You may find yourself temporarily unable to change weapons, pick up items, or pass through doors. Usually this lasts until somebody kills you, which, considering the amount of fragging that goes on even during Capture the Flag and Domination modes, is very quickly indeed.

The REAL issue with online play, though, is the nauseating cowardice and lack of sportsmanship displayed by an appallingly large number of people during Capture the Flag games. If you've played CTF online before you most likely know what I mean; either because you've had to deal with this idiocy or because you yourself are one of the buffoons I'm talking about. The lists of online servers will tell you which players are competing in a particular game, but they won't tell you who's on what team. ....

Don't let me sour you on the whole thing, though. In CTF there are SOME people who are willing to even out the teams in the interest of a fairer and much more fun game. And of course there's always the free-for-all Deathmatch where sportsmanship simply isn't an issue. As for Domination, hardly anyone plays it. Pity, it's my favorite mode.

Be sure to get a keyboard to defend yourself from trash talk, as lots of it goes around and most of it is completely uncalled for. Of course it could also be argued that not responding to it at all is even better. But then you can't discuss strategy with your teammates.

I despise using a mouse of this type of game so I stick with the regular Dreamcast controller and it works just fine. I have to use the keyboard for chatting and viewing the scoreboard, but that's it.

All in all, highly recommended if you can get past the cowardice and stupidity of your fellow humans during online play.

similar to quake3 but better

this game is a real fun game I say that because the weapons on this game are so better then on quake3's game.First of all on unreal tournament their rocket launcher can be used 2 diffrent ways you can make it shoot out 5 rockets or more or you can use it as if you were throwing grenades. But on quake3 you can only use the rocket launcher 1 way.The fun thing about playing unreal tournament is capture the flag because its competitive, you score then the computer scores it makes you want to play more and more.I think that playing the levels on quake 3 are too easy but thats not the only reason quake3's weapons are horrible. If you want to buy quake 3 dont, buy a better game instead like unrealtournament.quake 3 is a game you should rent at blockbuster for 5 days.Unreal tournament will saisfy you trust me.

If it would only work...

There's a few reasons why I only give this 2 stars: First, IT WON'T LOAD ON FIRST TRY! It actually takes a few tries; the Dreamcast won't recognise it as a DC game most tries. This is a big problem, and from what I hear from other players online, it happens to all of them.

Next, it freezes quite a bit, on- or off-line, and sometimes loss of VMU data comes with that.

The frame-rate isn't that great, but it's playable. And the online servers go from working fine to INCREADABLE lag, even with a broadband adapter. The PC version is WONDERFUL; and I think you can get some fun out of this version, but I really suggest renting this one before you think of buying. You will see all the problems right off.

UT really gets the most out of your DC !

This game is owesome! Cool music and Sound FX. Great graphics. I played this game on PC for months. I really enjoyed it. With a VMU, a mouse, a keyboard and a tremor pack, you WILL enjoy every SINGLE moment of this horrifing, action-packed, fast-paced, famous game.

Fun, but for multiplayer, stick with the PC version

Unreal Tournament for the Dreamcast is an excellent port from the PC. Using the controller is strange at first, but the implementation becomes managable after some time. I played through the entire single player game and enjoyed the experience. I tried online play and that was fun too (using broadband). However, since SegaNet is now charging for play, I won't be bringing Unreal for DC out again anytime soon. At least it's still free to play the PC version online.

Great Game, but Amazon is too Expensive!

Great multi-player action game. But, I just bought this same game at Bestbuy.com for only $... new. Here at Amazon.com, it is priced today at $... Very disappointing :(
