I don't see why anyone would not like this game.. The only reason that I can think of why you wouldn't like it is if you look down on life. It is an overall GREAT game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

let me get stright to the facts. this game said you can have most of the planes that were used in the pacific. uhhhhh??? i dont see those planes!!! it says that you have to download from their website and get the rest of the 70% of planes that were ot put on the game. the only good planes are the bomber planes and they only have three of them!!! This game lags like crazy if you dont have a nice computer or the very new dell xp that is made to play games. out of all, im gonna say dont waste your money on this game. That includes all airforce pilots who like world war two. p.S how come nobody ever makes a world war I game? that would make good money.

If you have a clue as to what a flight sim is you'll know...

"Pacific fighters" is an exquisitely crafted immersion that conveys an intense emotional and intellectual portrait of what it is to be a WWII combat Aviator. Its not really a "Game" although it is sold as such. Its experience asks a lot from the user. To enjoy this simulator the user must know flight basics thoroughly and understand combat flight tactics at least a little bit to begin with. On top of that it takes a very powerful and fast machine to run it well enough to have fun with it. (I have a thousand dollars invested in my machine to run this 40.00 game.) But OH HOT DAMN it is fun!

If you don't have the fastest machine and need to understand the basics of flight a little better but you're still interested in a WWII flight sim I would recommend Microsoft combat flight simulator 2 pacific theater. It has a realistic flight model and comes with a great manual that explains what you need to know on top of that it offers some features like radar that make 16 plane engagements easer to understand and fly. There is Il2 sturmovik which is an excellent and beautiful sim that requires less that the fastest machine to run, it's a little bit more complex though and doesn't have a manual to speak of. There are some great sights on line that will help you learn what you need to know. Of all the combat flight simulators "Pacific fighters" is the caviar but some people think that's just stinky old fish eggs.

C1 makes another great WW2 game

this is a great ww2 flight sim. the cockpits and models for just amazing..along with the flight models and damage models as well. it runs pretty well on a computer that is a year or two old as long as you don't max the Gfx up.
for those new to the C1:maddox flight sims this is pretty real, some people new to flights sim have trouble, but it you go to the website and get on the fourms there are tons of people who would love help..even fly on-line with you and coach you!
one last thing if you get this make sure you also get IL2:forgetten battles gold pack(with aces add-on) that will give you also 200 flyable planes!! plus tons and tons more AI-only planes...it really is amazing how many and how well the planes are done up in this game!

Great simulator, one outstanding flaw.

This simulator allows the player a level of realism and a sense of actually flying the like of which I have not seen for a home computer system. Graphics are tantalizing, and the aircraft rendering is great.

Having said that, there is a definite bias in favor of all things Russian in the simulator. Not only in terms of numbers of available aircraft to be flown, but especially in terms of the performance of the respective aircraft. If this simulator is accurate, than the U.S. had more or less no aircraft that could hold a candle up to the Soviet Yak-3 (to name only one). In fact, according to the simulator, most of our aircraft were sub-par and we (allies) likely won the war based solely on sheer numbers. Given the fact that the vast majority of the developers are themselves Russian, I suppose the products bias is not particularly shocking. It is however a little hard to stomach at times in the face of, well, reality. Chock it up to airframe envy.
All in all a great sim, just needs more objectivity.

Good WWII flight sim.

And that's about it.

The package is a cash-cow for Russian developer 1C. It's only real use is to generate revenue to fund continued work on the phony-baloney notion that the Red Air Force destroyed the Luftwaffe in WW2.

Over half the planes in the game are either Italian, Russian or British. That's right, in a "simulation" titled, Pacific Fighters, over half the aircraft are associated with forces that had little or no involvement in the theatre.

The good news for aspiring Nazis is that the game can merged with previous 1C titles to create a cornucopia of swaztika-emblazoned aircraft. The bad news for the fascists is that the other half of the plane-set is Soviet, and they RULE the game.

Finally, it's not a "simulator" at all. There is no wind or other atmospheric effects. The beautifully done cockpits provide little information of practial use. In short, compared to FS2004, it's really kind of a joke, excepting again, to Soviet aviation revisionists or Hitler lovers.

Yuk!

5 stars for an unreleased game?

I'm sure the game will be well done, but what do we gain from a 5 star rating for a game that isn't scheduled for release until late NOVEMBER. Please play it before you rate it.

Thank you

I bought it because of the ratings, but it's not much better than Chuck Yeager's air combat.
