Games Of All Time!!!

First off, let me say that it isn't just a political game, it's a RTS game, with Politics and Presidential elections in it.

It has equal choice between both parties, and plenty of internet downloads/fantasy/ random issues and issue importance to keep the game fresh as awlays, and it's really fun.

I deffinently say one of the best.

A good political simulator, but missing basic promised features.

After looking at [...], anybody would assume that this game was going to be the hit of the century (at least for politics fans!!). I've seen false advertising before, but this is just wrong. They promised so many features that don't even exist. I'll try to keep things "fair and balanced" by telling you what's really in the game. You can then make your decision about purchasing.

Basically, you look at a map of the US, click a state, and choose which action to take. There are only 5 actions to take, by the way. The game is very fun to play, don't get me wrong, but it is not the most realistic thing ever. It is super easy to get California to go Republican, and super easy to get Texas to go Democratic. They say each state will have different opinions about the issues, which is kind of true, the Republican states(in real life) care about the war in Iraq, and the Democratic states(in real life) care about the war on terror.... not exactly what I had hoped for. Then a few messed up states care solely about the enviornment (Not that the enviornment isn't important, but they literally ONLY care about the enviornment) . The game is super fun to play the first few times, but once you win a few elections it slowly starts to become more and more boring.

It is super confusing to connect to the online portion of the game, I had to contact tech support, who had me change settings, which I must change every time I want to play. Then when you do get connected, there are usually no games. If you are on at "prime time" you MIGHT be able to get in a game. If you do, the lag is terrible, even if both players have cable internet.

Once you play 5 times, the game really loses its fun. They promise to keep things updated, but since its release they have only put out one update, which only fixed a few typos. The campaign is fun, but gets repetitive.

Overall, this is a very fun game, Amazon has it for 10 bucks. This game is worth around 5 bucks, but no more, and that's if you like politics, if you don't, don't bother. If you are looking for something more in depth, check out "President forever," which goes for 12 bucks, but is harder to use. Personally, I prefer The Political Machine.

I havent played this game, however it seems similar to the game president forever which is a very good game.

Most video games tend to bore me after initially sucking me in with spectacular graphics and atmosphere. 2 games of recent years that didn't do that were from UbiSoft (Beyond Good & Evil/Prince of Persia)- unique and fun experiences both. So when I saw that UbiSoft was distributing a game involving bush, kerry and condoleeza rice for 20 bucks, I figured I had to give it a try. And I love it! but not for any of the reasons I loved their other games (the music from Stardock could have used the UbiSoft treatment). I loved it because I'm so tired of the empty rhetoric and inane back-and-forth of the candidates reported nightly/daily/hourly, the lame one-liners and ridiculous poses. And the anaylsis! Everyone pretending they mean what they say. Enough already - let me pull those puppetstrings! Let me grab John Kerry by the chin and tell him what to say, and to who and where. Let me order the campaign commercials and hire underwater operatives to sabotage a Bush fishing trip/photo-op. I especially enjoyed making quick work of Ms. Rice while managing the campaign of Hillary Clinton. Could you imagine that battle in real life? Maybe someday.. Anyway, I urge anyone with an interest to give this game a try.

Ammusing game, kind of complicated though, you have to go to every state in order to win every state, and it's really hard to get the big states and enough little states to get you elected, I haven't won once yet.

I can't get this game to work properly. The states don't show up on the map. The company has so far provided little assistance on this matter. Like so many games in recent years, it is heavy on graphics--which even here are cartoonish and silly--but weak on concept design and artificial intelligence. The candidate choices are strange. There have been better presidential election simulation games. Save your money.

Its not nice to trash a game before its release just because you don't like the subject.

Past games in this genre have been very interesting, though none of the CD era games rivals the old Campaign '88 I played for hours on my old Commodore 64.

This game has glitzy graphics and is pretty dumbed down, but it looks like it could be fun. For $20 it seems like a worthwhile ride.

My hat is off to the developers and concept people. I hope they continue on with this and can create a truely complex simulation, at least offer something more complex as a option in their next title. You have all sorts of people you can hire, media consultants, spin masters, web masters, ect........ but not alot of depth into what they are doing in any given state other than "being there". Keep in mind that this game deals with the issues and the mood of the country in 2004 at the time this game was being put together. I'd like to see an option to download, update poll numbers on a daily basis based upon REAL polling data. There are polls conducted state by state all of the time and they could easily go with the most current.

Long overdue idea. Poor Game.

First, I had no issue with getting my copy to function.

Having said that, you aren't missing much if you can't get it to run. It is pretty boring and repetitive. It essentially boils down to moving from state to state, giving speaches and buying ads. The problem is that doing these things consists of two mouse clicks. The screen shots show all these interview shows and such, but they are pretty minor in the game.

I was hoping it would be great fun, but I got bored with it after and hour.

I purchased this game because of my growing interest in the upcoming presidential election. While the game is obviously different than most PC strategy games, the overall gameplay is sub-par. After playing the game three or four times, I started getting bored with it. My boredom is the result of the fact that there is really only one mode of play. The main menu gives you the option of choosing a game mode, but they're all the same! There are clearly some areas that could be improved upon. For instance, I think that the game would be much better if you were allowed to participate in a presidential debate against your opponent. Overall: not a great game, but what can you expect from a game with a $20 price tag?
