Three games in one

Sure most people already know what Mah Jong is, you can even find the game online for download etc. Why pick up a Mah Jong game for the DS you might say? Well, I'll tell you why. Pros and Cons.

First, the pros.

3 Modes of play.- Classic (the original way that everyone knows and loves), Puzzle (with unique tiles to spice up the game) and Quest which has a little storyline. I'm Sure you won't be picking this up for the storyline. It almost looks like it is trying to cash in on "Puzzle Quest" by the title but it is traditional Mah Jong more or less with other things thrown in here and there.

Many layouts - There are really hundreds of layouts to choose from and unlock etc. (If that sparks your interest).

Virtually a different game each time you play - Replay value here is high which is why this game is a good addition to anyone's DS library.

Stylus play - Yep, clicking with the stylus makes it seem to move quicker. A mouse click vs a stylus click isn't all that mind boggling but the game makes use of this feature.

Screen switching - Sometimes a tile might seem to be hidden at a certain angle and you might want to see it better. (after all the timer IS going!) You can quickly hit a button at the bottom with the stylus to flip flop the screen horizontally and vertical making the tiles all easier to see from all angles. Its a nifty little tweak and something unique to the game.

Cons

Timer - Yep, the illustrious timer is involved in ALL three modes. If you are new to Mah Jong it might make the game a bit frustrating and challenging. For seasoned players it probably won't make a difference. Not being able to turn the timer off is a BIG con for me but not enough to make me hate the game. I did minus one star from my review for this however.

Anyone who likes Mah Jong and wants a little twist in gameplay this might be something to try out, its not very expensive and probably will hit the bargain bin fairly quickly as its not Mario or Zelda. It is what it is and its pretty fun and challenging.

Mahjong Quest Graphics

I have a number of downloads and versions of this game, but love my Nintendo DS and thought this would be a great addition. The game itself is enjoyable, but the graphics are terrible. Very tiny and you have to spend all your time trying to really keep a focus on the tiles. There is no way that I can find to change the style of the tiles and that is also disappointing.

So overall if you don't care about the clarity of what you are spending tons of time looking at then good game. On a scale of 1-10 the graphics are about a 2.

For several years now, I've been a very big fan of Mahjong. I don't play it too often, but I did get my DS so I'd have something to do when waiting at the Dr's offices, waiting for people to arrive at places, etc. This was one of the first games I bought for my DS and I have not been disappointed. Even the timer seems to last forever, so that is helpful for keeping the stress level down. The only downfall I can see is that the "classic" mode is not really the classic mahjong I remember, but it's still tons of fun. Even on easy mode, it's still quite challenging.

This is a great game for someone (like me) who has ADHD and cannot stand sitting still for even short periods of time. This was recently proven when I had to go pick up a friend from the airport. We only had to wait about 15 minutes for his luggage to arrive, but it's difficult for me to stay still and not become agitated for that long with my ADHD. This game helped to keep me calm and able to wait patiently.

MarJong Quest

I like Marjong and thought I would try this game as a diversion from the brain gamesI play daily. I wasn't sure how it would work on the small screen. I was pleasantly surprised it worked fine. There are three main types of games with several levels. The challenges are there with time limits, but I mainly play it without those restrains. Since I am somewhat handicapped, it gives me the practice of eye-to-hand coordination as I enjoy the game. I recommend it for those who like marjong on the run.

Not for old folks

While the game itself is okay, the tiles are so small that they are barely perceptible for someone with less than perfect vision.

I have spent hours playing, very happy that I can play on DS Lite as the Grand Children gave me one as a gift.

Wife's a serious fan of the Mahjong-solitaire games. She seems entranced by this one. If you're looking for a "true" Mahjong title - you may want to check elsewhere. Imports may be your best bet.

If you like Mahjong games you will like this game, it has a nice twist, and different types of Mahjong games. This game is definitely worth the $19.99. I highly recommend this game!! The graphics are not really great, but its still a great game.

A co-worker had this game and brought it in for me to try and help her get past a level on Kwazi's Quest. I was addicted right then and there! I had to have it, and I have not been disappointed! I've completed all of the puzzles and classics, and right now am stuck on an extremely hard puzzle on Kwazi's Quest.

I thought it would be hard matching tiles on such a small screen, but it's very easy to get used to.

If you are a fan of Mah Jong, this is a must-have! :)
